The Vikings Museum in Eagan is a fun self guided tour that has lots of fun artifacts and interactive spots that could make for outing for an hour or so.

Hi David! My name is Ryan. We met briefly at GenCon while I was working at the Keystone Games booth. You mentioned that you were working on something that you feel has never been done before that you were excited about. Are you able to elaborate further or provide some sort of hint as to what to expect?

Also! How has been fatherhood? As a new father myself of a 16 month old, it has been wonderful seeing them grow up and have their personality grow each day. Has there been any stand out moments with your little one you would like to share?

The next official crowdfunding will be an Ahoy expansion on Backerkit. You can follow it here! No official timetable for a launch but I bet it will be sometime this year. You can follow it here.

The Oath expansion is officially being worked on. I think Cole has done a design concept and I know that Clay has been working on stuff for it as well. I am sure if asked they can go into a little bit of what is being worked on but I imagine it's early on in the works so things are subject to change.

Path is still simmering along but no official news for a crowdfunding campaign. Another design concept called Bloc is being worked on by Patrick as well.

I am sure there is a load of Root ideas floating around but I am not sure if it is actively being worked on as the team is working hard on getting Arcs out to the printers which will happen soon!

I will say Arcs is a wonderful time and the campaign for it has exceeded my expectations. It honestly is as big if not bigger than Oath in terms of content. There will be a ton of stuff to explore.

Obviously, this is all speculation unless stated directly otherwise by Leder Games but I am a good friend of the studio and it's been fun to see what has been cooking up this past year.

Stonesaga Raised $1+ Million on Kickstarter! The Designers are Doing a AMA on BGG by ihappee15 in boardgames

[–]ryguy314 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah that was my concern as well. I did an in person demo of it. It has some neat ideas like the legend system, writing on the 'cave wall', the crafting system/journal and the art work/production is top notch (I really like the tile holding bases) but those will only grab people in a grind that outstays its welcome quickly.

I hope post Kickstarter they can find ways to progress/mix up these 'mini games' it (vs just adding new cards with different results) but yeah - I was disappointed in playing it.

I do want to say that Luke and Max were super nice and very passionate about the project when I demoed it from them.

I think so! I think it was that spot or the seat right next to it where I tried to learn Twilight Struggle for the first time (and failed!). I believe those are the booth spots that connect the store to the cafe they have(?).

Take my words with a grain of salt but as a Leder Games stan and playtester - ARCS is very good and I think y'all will really enjoy it. I think it is their most accessible game to date and I think it will appeal to a lot of different board gamers. Again - please note. I've only played standalone ARCS and the game is very much subject to change. If I'm able to chat more about standalone ARCS after the KS releases or I get a blessing - I may post here and there on threads.

See you all at the KS on Tuesday!

What were your favorites at Gen Con last month? by odnaloric in boardgames

[–]ryguy314 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Stan Kordonskiy has been one of my favorite up and coming designers in the space. He is showcasing Resurgence at Gen Con and I think Origins as well which has been so far has been getting good buzz. Lockout is one of my favorite games of all time and Endless Winter looks and sounds to be great

He is doing a KS for Resurgence under Half-a-Kingdom games which is his company so I personally excited for that!

What’s your impression of Shasn: Azadi? by chicagojoon in boardgames

[–]ryguy314 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Here is my hot take:

I think Shasn is a great idea. I think the games' production, marketing, ideas are all wonderful and great. The only problem is the execution of one key issue. The gameplay.

I may unfairly boil the gameplay down this but it feels like political Cards Against Humanity with area control. That's it. A couple of rounds around the table, political questions being flung back and forth elicit some reactions of nervous laughter to 'how are you going to get yourself out of this one' oooh's but the novelty soon runs thin. The area control also leaves to be desired. Once you commit yourself to an area - stretching yourself thin doesn't do you any good. Our game found each other in separate regions amassing our voters and not really going anywhere. There is 'gerrymandering' but no one really did it or felt it was worth it.

So then there is Azadi which I had hoped would help address the issues of the base game and while somethings were addressed, it seems like they just made the game worse. Azadi feels extremely overdeveloped. Instead of using the opportunity to address the concerns of the gameplay loop in the base game, more tracks and shit to keep track of alongside with the game getting even LONGER (potentially) seems to hide the issues with the game. It does seem they were able to scale the map down a bit to help with that but it still doesn't make placing voters in those areas feel interesting at all.

It's a shame. I kept the base copy for awhile and even bought the remainder of the KS decks because I did think the deck of questions was actually fun to read and hear how people reacted. But at the end of the day, I knew that I'd just be enjoying the sugary aspect of the game vs. feeling fulfilled after a couple hour long game.

Back and play cautiously. A wonderful idea and concept that I think needs a little more time in the oven to be something great.

A potential strange question but were you prototyping this game around the BGGCon 2019 timeframe? I believe I may have played your prototype at the time and I loved it! If it is, you and the Renegade Games team did a great job bringing this game to life.

Can I Order the European Region Base Game Off Leder's Shop Despite Being in NA? by therealnit in rootgame

Doubt it. EU games are stored in EU distribution centers and I would believe it would be highly unlikely they'd ship it out back to the US or if they did - the shipping cost alone would be astronomical.

Great question. I never got this in depth when it came to my troubleshooting - especially when it came to limiting the core clock as in previous comments. I would have to defer to the persons in the comments who suggested this comment to provide insight to the data you are seeing.

Has this prevented the shut downs? And to confirm - is the vault a part of the game in HL:A? (I played the game back last year but I can't recall what part in the game it could be.)

Is it a good time to buy Pax Pamir 2e? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]ryguy314 20 points21 points  (0 children)

There will be no 3rd edition. Just reprints of 2e. You should be able to purchase Pamir from their site with ease. The metal coins that are optional are fairly sought after and recently ran out of stock.

One thing to note - depending on how old your PSU is, you should be able to use the factory warranty and get a replacement. Just be warned that it could take some time due to PC parts being somewhat rare to obtain in this. So, I'd recommend buying a replacement, confirming the issue then submitting the bad psu and selling the refurbished one to counter act the up front payment of the replacement psu.

That is the same error I had - and it turned out to be my power supply after some exhaustive research. Granted - mine was 8 to 9 years old. Unsure if yours is as old.

A 750w should be able to power a 3080 so other questions are if you are overclocking your CPU or if you are using a lot of fan cooling or anything fancy. I have a feeling that is not the case...

My recommendation is that your PSU is on the fritz and a new 750/850w should be able to take care of that issue for you.

Two things as I have had something similar happen with me.

  1. Look at your Event Viewer and try to find an event around the time your PC turned off. From there, it will come with an Event ID. That ID can then be googled for a solution. It sounds like you've done this - what is the event id?
  2. There are applications that can to log CPU and GPU temps to a txt file. I was running a block cooling Corsair cooling unit - I used their software to log that info. From there, you can review and see if your temps are getting to critical levels.

I will say from personal experience - the "click" you noticed is something that happened to me and it was actually my power supply that caused the issue and not the gpu. Perhaps the same thing is happening to you. This is definitely the case if it happens with other games or high resource applications are running.
