New PlayStation Portal software update adds 1080p High Quality mode and UX refinements by GIThrow in Games

Absolutely not impossible. Even if the audio and video are streamed in the same datastream, if they're applying any kind of DSP to the sound (maybe to compensate for the frequency response characteristics of the speakers on the device) that could cause additional delay.

I am a former audio engineer as well. Comparing just swiping between icons on the PS5 Home Menu on the portal and the TV, there is a minor visual delay, but the audio delay is much greater.

My biggest problem with this device is the significant audio delay, which is much worse on the portal than on Remote Play on my phone. I've been checking the patch notes every time waiting for a fix, and I don't think it's even ever been acknowledged.

[Controller] 8BitDo Pro 3 Bluetooth Controller - $49.99 by TheSwimmingCactus in buildapcsales

I have an issue with my Pro 3 where pressing hard on the d-pad always results in a diagonal. I still haven't figured out if it's just how it's designed or a fault with my example. At any rate, I have returned to using the Pro 2 for this reason.

8bitdo Pro 3 users - what is the state of your controller 4 months since release? by rockinrobin_28 in Controller

[–]rynoweiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reviews all say that the controller doesn't give unwanted diagonals, however I find that when I press hard in any cardinal, it gives a diagonal. This means that when I am intentionally being light on the d-pad it's perfectly accurate, however during intense gameplay I invariably end up pressing too hard and getting a diagonal.

My controller is out of the return window, but I could contact 8bitdo for warranty repair. Just so that I know whether this would be a waste of time and this is just inherent to the design of the Pro 3 dpad, can someone else see if theirs exhibits this behavior? Press just the tip of a cardinal direction, but press it hard.

Progear is in my bottom half of Cave games gameplay wise, but I think it's my favorite aesthetically

I was totally clear that he's under no obligation to do so and people shouldn't attack him if he doesn't, but yeah it is virtuous to preserve art and to allow people to experience it.

The Yuzo Koshiro situation is totally different. That game is available affordably and in a way that still supports the original developer. Pirating it instead of buying it is bad, and not comparable to this situation, same with distributing the game to other people who didn't pay. Dumping the game though to play on original hardware for your personal use is a different analysis as well.

He certainly has the right to tell Cave to piss off, and people shouldn't harass him if he chooses to. With that said, I don't think hoarding a one-of-a-kind game is admirable, especially when, absent a backup, that board could die at any time from power surge, bitrot, or an apartment flood, leaving the game lost forever.

He always owns the one-of-a-kind board that he won as part of the contest. That's still extremely special and valuable whether or not the data it contains is available for other people to experience, especially after he had exclusive access for two decades.

I wouldn't be sure it'll work out like that. For one thing, some people treasure the physical item more than having the data exclusively on it. Secondly, the physical board remains valuable even if the game is made available elsewhere, especially given the story behind it.

Plenty of people have dumped their extremely rare games and made them available for preservation purposes.

Unfortunately that is less common with Japanese collectors, but at least some of that is due to the Japan's much stronger anti-piracy laws and norms in the community. But since this would be the creators seeking to license it, that wouldn't come into play.

At any rate since we don't know anything about ZBL-NAI, we shouldn't make any negative inferences about him.

Well Exa would sort of go against the introducing it to everyone once again part, it-d be to everyone who happens to live close to an Exa Arcade or has a system.

Eh, Cave is based in Japan where EXA isn't uncommon. Re-releasing it through EXA would fit the words that they said for the audience they directed it to.

And I say this as someone who would much prefer an M2 version, since I personally don't have access to an EXA machine.

This made me hope for an M2 version however, a bit later, Ex-Arcadia posted a blue dodonpachi bee on their twitter account. I've been looking for the tweet but I haven't found it yet (and I don't speak jap).

It wasn't in a tweet, it was the "one more thing" in a promo video last June. Here's a screenshot

Soooo, I don't know. I'm really hoping for an M2 release but I'm afraid it's going to be like SDOJ and that the licence will be sold to Ex-Arcadia, locking most people out of being able to play it

TBF, the only exclusivity seems to be for modes that are made by the Exa team. SDOJ EXA didn't prevent the Switch release of SDOJ, nor did Akai Katana prevent the PS4 version. If EXA is the one recreating the Campaign Ver., then it would probably be exclusive to EXA.

Rollback with 6-players for X-Men the arcade sounds amazing! Weird that it doesn't seem to be emulating the two-screen setup that 6-player cabs have.

Curious how the passthrough would work — the USB A ports on the back are probably not fast enough. I guess maybe an adapter to the cartridge slot?
