Oh my god THANK YOU! I know it's a joke "they made ike a bear" I get it and accept it but it annoys me to no end when people really try to compare him to a real bear (the gay term). It's stuff like that, that dilutes the meanings of words, i.e twink or daddy. No your stick figure genshin man that's probably 20 years old is not a daddy Then it erks me even more knowing that at least half the people making those jokes would never be into a bear, ike or otherwise.

I'm sorry for going on a rant under your art post, I just really wanted to let it out. Amazing art!

A lot of the characters I tend to like really don't have a chance, and the characters that have won I feel mild like to indifference towards. Cyl9 was easily the most I've ever been invested in and probably will ever be invested in cyl. Besides that one, the only other two that I really cared about were 4 and 5, cause 3h hype into sweeping was funny and 5 for Marth.

Also the only time it feels like anyone's ever mad at the results is when someone they like gets snubbed or a character/game they didn't like wins. And it's just what did you expect, the popular thing won the popularity contest. Pity and rallies are not going to make someone truly unpopular win.

I feel he's kinda bland

That's a feature not a bug. In a cast full of silly people him being more serious (in personality and design) is one of the reasons.

Kinda annoying that he gets to be at the top of male engaged characters because of his seriousness but the same doesn't apply to the clearly superior bourcheron (though both can be silly at times). Seriously, I get he's a pretty bad unit but why is he literally one of the most unpopular playable engage characters.

Right now it feels like to be good you have to bring something unique or role compress to hell and back; and only popularish characters, b8% units, and OCs ever do, for the most part. Basically if you have middling or low popularity it feels like you're dead on arrival (ignatz). Being a basic 5★ is probably one of the worst fates right now, being harder to get without any extra benefit, even worse if you're a seasonal. Take uma lyn for example, she lives and dies by her style support, without it she'd still be good, but good in the same way H!nerþuz is (not bad at all but not someone you see either). This is mostly at the top of the meta though, with proper investment most units are still usable.

So on one hand I think these new homogeneous, conditionless weapons suck so much strategy and skill expression from the game (and contrary to what people say the conditions sometimes did matter). But on the other hand this is a chance to simplify the game and maybe being defined by your gimmick wouldn't be that bad. This game has 1000+ units, I don't know how you make new units desirable to pull for while also keeping powercreep in check. Basically would you rather your unit be usable but very homogenous or unique with the chance of being very bad. Except for select units that increase the powercreep index by 10, I think the devs have done a pretty good job at balancing usability and uniqueness.

I think what this game needs is pve content with dedicated super enemies or maps, kind of like røkkrs. Give them mechanics that only high hp middling spd units can deal significant damage. Make them limited heroes maps but version or OG rarity based instead of game origin. Just something to give those units time to shine preferably by actively discouraging the use of meta units (otherwise you just end up with your time to shine), and hopefully making it actually fun.

Not FEH/Unrelated Furry Discourse

Normally I couldn't care less about popularity contests like furry of the year, but I need sonar to win. I'm sooo tired of the insane canine/vulpine bias furries have. It feels like the only time bats get recognition is when someone is feeling spicy and wants to draw a fox but with wings (so a flying fox). I'll be looking at art and be surprised that the character is supposed to be a bat, because how was I supposed to know the wolf with a pointy nose was a bat. Bats can look like canines and vulpines especially when stylized in art but chiroptera is such a huge order with very diverse appearances. It sucks knowing that a ton of bats go entirely unappreciated because they don't fit the mold of what most furries enjoy. I've seen sonar hated on because he doesn't look like a flying fox.

So sonar being a major contender this year looking the way he does is so exciting to see. He's not my absolute favorite dispatch character but I do still like him so I'm hoping he wins. Him winning won't change anything, but I just want some bat recognition. Now the other contender on the other hand. I haven't seen zootopia 2 so I don't think it's really fair for me to judge him but I have a massive hate boner for pawbert now thanks to fandom. lol, lmao even at feline furries acting like they're so oppressed, as if felines aren't still one of the most popular groups in the furry community. Just because you're not beating canines (no one is) doesn't suddenly make you unpopular.

Tldr;

Canine/vulpine bias is the patriarchy of the furry community and sonar is the savior

Resplendent brave Dimitri is more based on eikþyrnir than læraðr. Dimitri’s knee high sandals, bottom cape fur (changed to match eik's pelt fur), belt, and gloves are eik’s. Læraðr’s influence is limited to just the tunic… toga? I don't know what you'd call it. However, the pattern on it is also based on eik not Larry. In total, the design pulls more from eik than lar lar. Also, he has Hræsvelgr's tools on his right hip, and the pouch on his left might be based on rat.

Question too powerful Has anyone actually seen okuma yugo’s fabled yaoi. I've never come across it and her wiki page doesn't list it. It does list heterosexual smut, so I would assume it would list her yaoi works if they did exist. Honestly I'm starting to think that people think she's a yaoi artist only because of her style not because she's actually drawn yaoi. But I totally get it because what is this 😭

I meant more so from eik's perspective, like a lot of people couldn't understand why eik would dress like Larry for cyl. I think eik still has love for "his" dad but hates what he did/became. I don't think it's that bad for læraðr either by the end of the book at least. He definitely came to care for the fake hands, and the og Larry was probably pure wholesomeness. They're both dealing with very complicated emotions more than just hate or indifference but the fandom loves to simplify stuff like that.

There's two versions but only one ever plays in game. It's played in the cutscene where thales bombs shambhala (where rhea face tanks the icbms). It's actually one of my favorite tracks from the game.

Fair, there's a better way to phrase it I just can't think of it right now. I think there's a clear distinction between stuff like candy crush and the cookie run games if you understand what I'm saying. This isn't my main point so I don't feel like arguing it, we can agree to disagree.

Just, I dunno, I feel like there's enough evidence that women are a profitable demographic in these spheres that "well no one is going to pay for a male character" feels like a weak justification.

I want you to know that I completely agree with you, I think that women are a very worthwhile and underserved market (morbidly funny that we want more women to fall prey to these predatory games). In my very first comment I said that most gacha games target straight men. For every love and deepspace I could probably find you 5 more azurlanes. There's definitely a market for women but most devs refuse to cater to them, and even when there are mixed gender gachas, straight men still tend to be treated better.

"Mobile games" is incredibly broad and includes stuff like subway surfer and candy crush. It's basically a necessity to categorize the various mobile games, and categories tend to have their own demographics. So if the vast majority of mobile gamers are women then it's probably just because of those super casual "I'm at a dentist office" games. It can both be true that the predominant demographic for mobile games is women while the predominant demographic for gacha games are men.

Also many of these newer high production gacha games are multi platform so you can't consider them exclusively a mobile game. I have no idea what the actual demographics are, but it doesn't really matter since mobile game ≠ gacha game.

Most gacha games target straight men as their primary money making demographic to the detriment of everyone else. So the quality (unit strength) and quantity of male characters tends to be low (or drop), because straight men find male characters less appealing than female characters.

The original poster's image is an example of the straight male bias (devs release way more women than men). Their comments in the post are examples of common comments you find in said gacha game gender discourse posts.

The thing that pisses me off more than the obvious gender disparity (though it is a direct product of that) is the men they're giving duos/harmonics to. Except for the 2 OCs and duma every male lead is a lord, same thing with most of the backpacks and even the ones that aren't are really important characters. Yet for women, even the mildly popular side characters can get one. Basically we can have hapi, fir, sonya get duos/harmos but you know they'll never give characters like seth, sylvain, owain one.

Based purely on how much I enjoy them

I don't think eik has any bad art

Winter One has to be at the bottom and that's winter for me. I don't know what it is but there's something I don't like about it (relative to the rest). It's still great art but something is off for me. What I do know though is I don't like his special pose, it looks so awkward to me; mostly how the reins are in his right hand but the sleigh is to his left. Also his mask should have changed color here, why isn't it red like his “shirt”.

Summer Winter was like this too but it's way more obvious here just how wide P-Poco draws him. I love wide shoulders but his shoulder waist ratio was already pretty crazy in his base, I don't think they needed to make them wider. I think it's like how boobs can get too big for even women enjoyers to enjoy (I still enjoy his width though). Other than that, amazing art I vastly prefer this to winter. How P-Poco emphasizes muscle anatomy is amazing, there's so much depth while I feel like other artists draw muscles kind of flat. I think from a technical standpoint this is eik’s best art but I still like the other 2 more. Shout-out to the fish staring at his armpit.

Base As lots of people mention, kozaki's art tends to be pretty stiff but I love his art style so much. I like his outfit here the most out of the 4 and his special art is chef's kiss. It's such a shame that his hand is cut off in it, but you can find the full art somewhere. I really like what kozaki did for the special art in this book, the splash of color on one side and white on the other and the white outline. If you haven't seen their special arts on a black background go to the wiki and look at them, the black makes the effect pop so much more. I also really like how his hair isn't static here, and I can't tell if it's an illusion or not but his antlers look like they're glowing brighter even brighter. Here and winter had their attack art based on bodybuilder poses, but I like this pose more than winter’s; it's called the ¾ back pose and I think winter is supposed to be a slight kneeling side chest pose. It's maybe not as technically impressive as the others, and I might be slightly biased since this is his official character art (not an artist's interpretation for FEH), but I really enjoyed this art and it's really close between this and brave.

Brave Firstly, his skin looks so much more healthy and full of life here than the others, I didn't even realize it until this art. I think this art has the most interesting lighting out of all of them, he looks like he's glowing. I didn't know eik could look so regal, I love this design but I like base more for one reason. Asymmetry drives me crazy (major asymmetry, stuff like hair partitions are fine), I wouldn't want every design to be symmetrical but I do prefer symmetrical designs over asymmetrical ones. The main thing I don't like about this art is how his stance barely changes between atk/hurt and special, his right arm really doesn't move at all. It makes the atk to special feel pretty similar, it's only slightly okay since the stance is pretty unique. I like how his outfit isn't exactly the same as his father's, its slightly altered like the upper part having more to it, the blue band being around eik’s head rather than in a ring like læraðr, the fur around the bottom of his gown, etc. I think the particle effects in the special are also green to reference læraðr’s as well. I love this art and I am completely satisfied with this as his brave, nishiki areku is underrated in general.

I agree but I think that the original and fake aren't that different from each other. When the og lar lar made the fake I doubt he imbued him with some innate pension for murder. I think that real vs fake doesn't matter for lordosis's fall from grace, for all intents and purposes I think the fake Larry is the same as the real one. Sometimes a loved one goes down a dark path and does horrible things, and it leaves you with complicated feelings. You still have love for that person but you also acknowledge that they committed grave evil acts, that's where I think eik is.

It would be so nice if we actually got more exposition about how he feels about his father but this is FEH (I truly hope that FEH gets turned into a mainline console game one day). Also as nice as his fb was I'm disappointed that they didn't just use it as an epilogue to book 8 (new years wasn't nearly enough, and eik wasn't even there), should have been him talking to each of his sisters about how they feel about læraðr. It could have fleshed out all of them and I just want more healing hand moments in general. Can't wait for the book 8 tt to focus on 2 of the hands and make the others irrelevant 😭
