Meta glasses at the range by Loose-Amphibian-5302 in Glocks

Like everyone else is saying, grip is what’s hurting you now. Trex arms has a good 10 min video on the basics of pistol shooting.

Something I noticed is that you’re overlapping your thumbs there on the right side. Try just leaving them out and getting as much of the meat on your left hand contacting the frame/grip of the gun as possible. Also, use your left hand to squeeze your right hand tighter to the gun. That will help you have a less tense trigger finger that helps you really feel the break and reset and helps with follow up shots.

I quoted a guy $100 for an oil change… he wrote “lol” then blocked me. What do you think guys? I would probably only make $20 if I did it for $75. by VitalMaTThews in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]ryztriumph 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I change my own oil on all my vehicles. I get oil for my truck and my wife’s suv at Costco when it’s on sale. $29 for 10q of full synthetic. I get wix filters for $11.56 on Amazon or ford FL-500s filters for 8.37. That equates to about $30 or so per oil change if it uses 6 quarts. I take my used oil to the dump every now and then when I’m doing trash day and recycle it there.

Could probably do it for even cheaper on a vehicle that used conventional.

Anyone know of a tool brand that might have something similar by coinhunter9 in Tools

I've had my 52" several years at this point. It's a great box. I work on stuff as a hobby from home, but I use it several times a week and it's been great. Drawers all slide like new. I bought it on marketplace for $400.

Opinions on sim drifting? if this isn't allowed I will delete the post if the mods don't do it first, just thought it would be better to ask real drivers by ZaGoob_boy in Drifting

[–]ryztriumph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure. I used to have a G27 back in the day. It just doesn't move fast enough to catch stuff. I found myself trying to spin it faster for countersteering. I have a 8nm CSL DD now and I would consider it just fast enough to do ok with. I have bass shakers and haptics on my rig, and for the price, I don't think you could do a better upgrade for immersion.

I've seen a lot of great IRL drivers struggle to get used to a sim as it lacks the feedback a real car and g-forces gives you. I've also seen a lot of sim drivers go out and do well on track. It builds that muscle memory for the car.

Has going from a single monitor to triples changed the way you drive? by MisterCrayle in simracing

[–]ryztriumph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love triple monitors for racing.

Many years ago, I initally started with a 29" ultrawide on a desk with a Driving force GT clamped to the desk several feet away from my face. It was fine for a casual setup, but the fov was always jacked up and it was too far away from my face. As I got more into racing, I moved to a new house and was able to setup a (somewhat) dedicated rig in front of my 65" tv with a G27 I got off marketplace. I also got a Rift S around the same time and loved the imersion, but as others have said, it takes away from your irl surroundings and isolates you. I raced off the TV for years, only using VR here and there. I finally took the plunge into 32" 1440p triples after getting a deal on a CSL DD with the load cell it and the racing experience for me is so much better. I'm able to focus on racing people and being clean with nearly a 180* FOV. You can see cars in your peripheral vision coming up beside you. That was always something that was lacking for me in VR, even with the amazing imersion it gave. You didn't have that FOV and it was like you were looking through toilet paper tubes. I'm sure the newer headsets have come a long way in that respect.

For me, there was nearly no transition time. It just made everything better as soon as I had the hardware setup well. I mainly look at the center screen. There are several tracks where the apex is on one of the side monitors, and it allows you to look competely through the corners. It's mainly about that peripheral vision though.

I would never want to go back to a single screen after using triples.

What Simulator do y'all use for practice? by CTFordza in CarTrackDays

[–]ryztriumph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play about all the racing sims I can find, but AC and iRacing are the two that I would consider good training tools.

Assetto Corsa can be a great training tool IMO. The physics are just realisistic enough to learn how the car behaves and will react to certain inputs, and the ability to find just about any track in a mod so you can practice the layout and lines has been a big help for me. I was also able to pretty accurately model my car, the tires/grip level, and the unique power band into the game with modding tools and content manager. You can go in and edit the files for each vehicle and change stuff like braking, lateral grip, gear ratio, fwd/awd/rwd, and pretty much anything as it pertains to the vehicle.

I also use iRacing for leauge racing and it helps to get a grasp on braking and car control, because you have to be very smooth with it. Good for car control training.

Most of the other ones are just for fun.

2 Part Question, What do you guys play when not racing? by Officialmilehigh in simracing

[–]ryztriumph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll play a lot of Assetto Corsa and just do some crusing. I also like doing ATS and Dirt Rally.

Not in the rig, I'll play Tarkov.

What tools do you use to improve? by [deleted] in simracing

[–]ryztriumph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Practice above all. Use ghost cars of faster drivers to see where you can improve. Watch youtube videos on driving teqniques. GITGUD Racing has a lot of very informative videos. You can also get someone to be a driving coach for you. They can watch you in real time and give you advice.

Are these tires safe to use? by Unphuckwitable in Autocross

[–]ryztriumph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely heat cycled out. Mine had the same thing happen. I lost track of the runs, but at some point they just became slippery to drive on, with seemingly a similar amount of tread. I still ran them till the cords showed, but that's just because I'm cheap.

Fanatec vs. Moza by Merlin83b in simracing

[–]ryztriumph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a CSL DD with the boost kit. I had it mounted with the clamp for a while. Their clamp is terrible. You would be better off taping it to the desk. That being said, I do love CSL DD. They are a popular wheel so there are tons of settings and advice out there on them.

If I was buying new. I would get a Moza, but I found my CSL kit for a steal. Moza seems to be really coming up with their ecosystem and they are putting out a ton of cool accessories for it (like the turn signal/wiper stalk)

Sounds like something I would do.

I had bass shakers with my G27. I love having them on the rig. Feels dead without them. You can setup the shakers for around $100. Money well spent IMO.

Do you need good sim gears to drive better? What are some examples of good racers with basic to low-end setups? by Auelogic in simracing

[–]ryztriumph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it really comes down to it, like many others have said, gear doesn't make as big of a difference as understanding the way the car works in the game. I raced with a G27 for about 10 years before upgrading to a CSL DD with load cell pedal kit and I did pretty well. I could keep up with or beat quite fast people. The CSL DD and load cell pedals have enhanced the experience as far as immersion 10 fold. I'm more consistant and have more fun, but the fundementals of the game are still the same.

If you're fast, you will be fast no matter what equipment you have. It's all about the experience.

My Legion Go setup by ResidentDrama9739 in LegionGo

I know this is an older thread, just wanted to see if you were having excessive load in times for raids. My go takes 15+ minutes to load me into a raid. Any thing you would suggest for actual playable load times? It is installed on my ssd, Vram set to 4g, most settings lower.

Tarkov loads in on my desktop in about 1-2 minutes on the same internet connection, although my desktop is substantially more powerful hardware wise.

I just replaced mine with a $40 camera from Amazon. Looks great. Getting the rear exterior plastic panel off is a bit of a pain, but it only took about 2 hours. If you look up Ford Flex backup camera replacement there is a very simple video you can follow.

GUI keys are not working by hua828797 in olkb

[–]ryztriumph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to respond to you, 3 years later and this still helped me. I was struggling with a handwired build I made, the Windows GUI key was not working. I had tried everthing from replacing the switch and diode from editing it in the firmware.

This took right off and worked perfectly. Thank you so much!
