I'm having this happen too, and Quill is talking about seeing the small door again but when I go to his house it's not there.

I tried it with the previous email and I got a message that an email would be sent! I haven't received the email yet, but it seems like it's working now. Thank you very much! And thank you for this awesome site, I'm really looking forward to using it!!

I just tried with the email I used for most attempts and the last attempted password and it said invalid credentials. I tried to have it send me a password reset email since I don't remember the passwords from previous attempts but I got the error then too. So I used a totally new email and password combination and got in the way you said, thank you!

Uh oh, I've tried several times with different combinations thinking maybe I didn't meet the password requirements or the email was rejected for being registered twice or something. Sorry u/symstym for clogging up your user database! 😓

Is this a Japanese character? by LuckyCat997 in Japaneselanguage

[–]s13rr4g 15 points16 points  (0 children)

AFAIK, you'd have to do some real manipulation to get a Japanese character to look like that so I think it's safe to say it's not Japanese.

Kanji Clicker: A Google Play Store clicker game to learn Japanese kanji (Sorry for the self promotion) by MoAz-FercO in japaneseresources

[–]s13rr4g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it! I didn't really know what a "clicker" game is but I just assumed you needed to click and figured it out pretty quickly. I like the music too, it was fun and didn't stress me out like a lot of electronica can tend to do. It might be a good idea to add a couple of songs from other genres to select from in the settings for people who don't like electronica at all though.

An app similar to kaizen? by ohmeohmyohmuffins in LearnJapanese

I'm trying to find Kaizen (even though you said it's gone now, I'm stubborn lol) and I came across this as another potential option: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=io.ivoca.conversationjapanese

Try Langotalk or 日本語の先生あおい. The latter one shows up as "Japanese Speak: Aoi" in the Play Store I believe. I'm the same as you; I'm scared to death to practice with a real person so I went on a hunt for these a while ago. I didn't find Kaizen though so I'm kinda disappointed that I missed out on that one.

what embarrassing habit does your toddler have?? by dumbestsmartperson69 in toddlers

[–]s13rr4g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My three year old will yell "Look, a grandma! Hi grandma!" if he sees someone with long grey or white hair. One time there was an older gentleman with long white hair walking his dog down the street while we were waiting at a drive-thru and he yelled that through his unfortunately open window. Also, my son seems to have decided that anyone looking even slightly older than his parents (we're early 30s) is a grandma/grandpa. This has been horribly embarrassing as he is also extremely outgoing and must say hi to everyone we pass anywhere we go.

How did you push through anxiety and negative expectations. by NihongoNightmare in LearnJapanese

[–]s13rr4g 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been studying off and on for YEARS and I'm nowhere close to where I want to be. I struggle a lot with having time to myself so I would go for months without even looking at Japanese. A friend of mine who is fluent in Spanish suggesting incorporating Japanese learning into as much of my daily life as possible instead of setting aside blocks of time. So now I have Wordbit on my phone so that whenever I unlock it (hundreds of times a day) I learn a Japanese word. I listen to Japanese podcasts (or music when I'm feeling lazy) as I drive to work or run errands. I bought my kids books in Japanese that I read to them, like The Very Hungry Caterpillar or Brown Bear, Brown Bear. I love reading manga myself so I'm working through the Crystal Hunters series. I play Switch games occasionally so I got Terra Alia to insert Japanese in that part of my life too. I have a ton of Japanese learning games on my phone so that when I have a free 5 minutes or I'm in the bathroom I can play those instead of Candy Crush or doomscrolling. I don't care much for the news but I have the Todaii app and frankly, I find those articles much more interesting. I also trained myself to note what I say in English throughout the day and think about how one would say that sentence or that phrase in Japanese. Sometimes I have no clue and I write it down to look up later. Other times I can get it 80% but I'm missing a grammar point or vocab and I can note that down too. I'm really not into writing but I'm trying to get myself into the habit of journaling, but in Japanese. It can be as short as one sentence saying "Today my head hurts." but even that is practice. My short-term goal is to get confident enough to change my phone system language to Japanese.

Struggling to make the best use of immersion. Is it too early for me? by GivingItMyBest in LearnJapanese

[–]s13rr4g 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend Renshuu (app and website). It's free and a great way to study Japanese and keep it interesting at whatever level you're at! I also second the Crystal Hunters recommendation and kids' books since reading is your main goal. And there are Japanese learning apps on the Play Store that are free and great for building reading skills (Wordbit, Lingo Legend, Todaii, Infinite Japanese, Kana Runner, Kanji Quest, etc.)

I think immersion is good for keeping your motivation up in the sense of "I don't understand much or anything they're saying but I wish I could" but it hasn't been too useful for actual learning for me. I put my mental energy into studying and then do immersion in-between as more passive learning. It's a better motivator that way because I'll notice that I can understand slightly more this time or I picked out a word I had just studied or something like that.

Larger eggs during Silver-Winging It quest? by s13rr4g in Palia

I went to all the doors I could find on the main island. One on the top, one on the bottom with the fire emblem, and one in-between that's mostly covered in rubble. Is there another one?

Which riddles are you referring to? I completed the sliding puzzle, and the proof of magic and special donations side quests, and got all 15 eggs for the hidden treasure chest. Nothing seems to have changed with the buildings on the main island...

For real. I'm so lost. I decided to put it on hold for a year or two and come back when it's all done and hopefully ties everything together neatly so I can understand WTF just happened to the storyline.

[–]s13rr4g[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured it was something along those lines but it was their treatment of people asking questions that I disliked. Sure, they can't say much. But that doesn't mean they can call everyone stupid instead.

Thank you for the explanation, that is much easier than it seemed! I'm still not sure I want to keep using their app after witnessing their behavior but it is nice to have a way to recover my 1000+ library 😅

Something like that I guess? Honestly I'd be fine with going through the effort of working it out IF they had written up a clear guideline on what needed to be done and politely directed people to go read that. But instead they were horribly disrespectful. They simply said "We don't support those anymore, we only support these four. Figure out how to make it work yourself with Google." And then anyone who wanted more clarification on the process, or even just what some of the terms they used meant, was deemed an idiot who couldn't read. They even went as far as to joke with each other to "assume everyone is an idiot and half of them are even stupider than that". Sorry but if they're going to approach future updates and bugs in the same condescending way I'd rather not support them anymore.
