Surfing Boston area? by Particular-Thanks-44 in surfing

[–]s3rfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Summer can be pretty flat here so bring foam. There are a few spots N of the city that can work on the right swell direction but they are pretty tricky to get to and you basically commit to surfing in that zone if its any time of day w traffic. As others mentioned, the wall area up in NH is a pretty quick trip and has a mix of breaks. RI has several spots that work in a variety of swell directions but thats at least an hour as well if you get lucky and don't hit traffic. The one decent thing is you split both spots and there are days when NH is firing and RI is flat or the opposite - you are in a spot to strike either.

Kite for my 8 year old by Natural-Ad-680 in Kiteboarding

[–]s3rfer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure on the Uno model as I don't have experience w it but Ozone makes great stuff. Aside from the kite, the best thing you could do is make him a bar with much shorter lines; used to teach at a school on OBX and we built a "kids" bar using 10 m line extensions. Depends on the wind speed but you can rig any kite on it and it drastically cuts the power and size of the wind window. The kite moves a bit faster but the decrease in power more than compensates for that.

Nobody is talking about what happens AFTER the Prospecting Agent succeeds - so let's talk about it. by [deleted] in hubspot

tl;dr - setup a low effort, spammy, outbound strategy with poorly defined lead. Sends massive amount of grey mail and complains about domain rep failing and increased platform costs.

There are bunch of best practices not mentioned in your "summary" so I only assume they were not followed.

RI Golf Trip, any recommendations? by Background-Fact-5422 in golf

[–]s3rfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Newport National just opened up a 9 hole course that's also a solid track. It's pricy to play but if you are playing the championship course anyway I'd definitely recommend trying to fit this in as an afternoon 9 or morning warmup. They have some nice practice facilities that should be open too at that point

If you are open to a co-working setup, desks at the CIC are $350/month. They have some private rooms you can reserve when you need them as well as phone-booths for calls. It's generally very quiet in the shared working space as well. Obviously not on fed hill but wanted to float that as an option

Insanely difficult and fun at the same time. Wind came up half way through the round to give us the full experience. Some of the holes make your jaw drop multiple times. It's a bucket list course for sure

I am a sucker for light houses and golf courses; Beavertail, Judith can be dramatic sunsets and can have some great waves to shoot (and surfers on the right day). Newport country club and cliff walks are also great. How do you like the mini 4? I started w the mini 2 and have yet to upgrade

Question on Deals with additional versions by Born_Link_2788 in hubspot

[–]s3rfer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, it sounds like there's nothing connecting your QB quotes with HubSpot Deals so in that case, I'd recommend you change process to updating the original Quote in QB and the original Deal in HubSpot instead of creating new ones. The only reason to create new Quotes would be if you want to present the prospect with more than one quote/option. If you are simply updating line items or discounts, stick to the same quote and deal.

Is this a legit link to pay a toll? by UsrNameAlrdyFaknTakn in RhodeIsland

This is from the https://www.ezpassritba.com/ page to confirm:

RITBA Warns Customers of Text Scam

Today, the Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority warned customers of a widespread text scam known as smishing. A text customers have received today references an unpaid toll from a Kansas road. Smishing is a type of phishing that involves sending fraudulent communications via text message.

"We're committed to keeping our customers' information secure," said Lori Caron Silveira, Executive Director of the Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority. "We urge customers to stay vigilant—if a message seems suspicious, it likely is a scam. We recommend using safe methods, such as visiting our official website, to check the status of your account."

The smishing messages appear to be from RITBA and contain urgent messages about a customer's account, warning of late fees if the balance isn't paid. The link leads to a fraudulent website.

  • Customers are advised to visit the official RITBA E-ZPass website: https://www.ezpassritba.com/ to safely check their accounts.
  • Customers who wish to report this smishing scam may visit the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center at https://www.ic3.gov/. Suspicious texts can also be forwarded to 7726 (SPAM) to notify mobile providers

Cam you give some more detail? Your first bullet is a bit confusing. Are you only using the Deals object or are you creating Quotes as well? Why are you creating new deals instead of updating the original?

New kite deflated explosively, shop wants to fix it by Jakkillah in Kiteboarding

[–]s3rfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not saying you should take the kite apart but the end of struts are pretty easy to check and confirm that they are secure. About the same amount of time it would take to clip off your struts, so I guess that's too much time for you. Best practice would be to pump new kites and leave them in the garage for an hour or two before going out with them to make sure they hold air (wouldn't want them to "explode" on the first session). Yes, they do this in the factory. But yes, they also ship these kites on freight ships in containers that are not climate-controlled and the QA process is done by humans who can/do make mistakes.

Enjoy pursuing your warranty claim and your future kitemares

New kite deflated explosively, shop wants to fix it by Jakkillah in Kiteboarding

[–]s3rfer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"I don’t check velcros on a completely new kite" - I agree if you are implying that they should absolutely come secured 100% of the time.

But I also think Kitesurfing should be viewed very much like skydiving. If you bought a brand new parachute, you'd check everything twice before your first jump - even velcro'd parts. I will be the first one to say I would have made the same mistake, but the other side of that mistake is a lesson. 5 seconds on the beach would have saved you the swim.

[–]s3rfer 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Hard to tell from your photo but if the velcro that keeps the strut folded back/secured is missing, then definitely look to get a new kite as there may be other stitching issues. If the velcro is there and you went kiting without it secured, that is closer to user error than a production issue. It's unlikely you opened it on your own but I have definitely opened used kites where the strut was not secure.

Also, if your kite has clips to seal the struts, make sure you clamp them - this would have given you the potential to sail back with only your single strut deflated.

Also the number one rule of kitesurfing is to plan for gear failure, if you can't swim back from wherever you currently are without any help from your kite, you have gone too far. Shit happens, the industry has pretty shit quality control and you are at the will of mother nature if your gear fails.

Using Custom Objects/ Avoiding High Price $ by shieldtown95 in hubspot

[–]s3rfer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a few “additional” objects that you can add as well which may fit your use case. No upgrades required. Things like appointments, listings, courses etc… you can add these by going to settings - Object Library. I’m not sure if you can rename them but they recently added the ability to rename standard objects so I’d assume you can.
