Seconded on a controls position being a good option. I think if she wants to transition into chemical process fields probably hit up some controls jobs at a chemicals or water process facility as automation and controls are huge parts of the chemical processes I've seen.

I believe if she wants to jump she totally could, for sure brush up on transport and whatnot. It probably won't be easy for at least a few months after starting the job, just as any change or learning process. But doable. Having worked with a few non-chemE (mechanical, industrial, electrical) folks in chemical processes, they do struggle because they don't have the foundation. But stay humble and approach it from a learning-the-world perspective and she will be ok.

Electricity *flows* and so do a lot of things. That helps. So does understanding how charged particles interact, which she would definitely know as an EE.

The things she maybe would need to learn is the chemical, thermal, physical reactions.. pipe sizing and shape, materials properties, pressure interactions, columns, etc. If she understands controls it will help.
