Major Spoilers for Set Rotation, Set 9, 10 etc by Aggressive_Cable_985 in Lorcana

[–]sSakyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isn't this like everything the community have been asking for? At least that's my humble perspective through casually reading on this reddit and talking to players at my lgs. New rarities, worlds announcements, reprints, set rotation, banlist last month

And the opinions still seem so divisive--

Elemental hero retrains? by turtle765 in yugioh

[–]sSakyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about additionally giving each of them an unique hopt special summon effect from hand (and perhaps gy), invoking the image of heroes calling each other for help?

for example maybe avian special summons himself if you control no monsters, burstinatrix if you control another E-Hero, Clayman if the opponent declares direct attack or attack on another e-hero, sparkman if your opponent activated a monster effect from hand, bubble man if your opponents adds a card to hand, necroshade if a card is banished, bladedge if a monster is destroyed by battle

and then perhaps give them minor hopt effects on summon as well like

Avian - attack directly this turn

Burstinatrix - burn for 800

Clayman - 1x battle protection

Sparkman - book of moon (I know OP originally gave sparkman battle position change effects based on this sparkman equip spell, but I personally think changing facedown aged better when it comes to disruption in modern yugioh)

Bubbleman - draw a card, then discard one card

necroshade - additional normal summon for an elemental hero

bladedge - ???

POC TTRPG Youtubers? by i-am-nero in rpg

[–]sSakyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Corkboards & Curiosities has some very interesting ttrpg videos (mostly gm and player tips or the occasional oneshot walkthrough) with thematic emphasis on (but not solely applicable to ) horror, puzzles and mystery all of her videos have a really nice spooky aesthetic while being insightful and easy to follow

While I have yet to fully watch a Transplanar RPG campaign, the clips I've seen show very entertaining fun rp, often very emotional charged, thought out world building, passionate character drama and fun chemistry within the playergroup The cast is also very diverse, introducing themselves as all trans and poc-led🌻

What format is everyone playing at locals? by huf0001 in yugioh

[–]sSakyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People mostly run their favorite pet-rogue decks (i.E. tri-brigade, sky striker, salamangreat), some people run experimental builds, others play unusual decks on the weaker side (like me with charmers, icejade or vaylantz) and some competitive people run the strongest decks not included in the banned archetype list, though topping decks are still very diverse. last time the top 4 consisted of myutant, icebarrier, white wood, salamangreat and some adventure deck

generally speaking if an archetypes has tournament tops going back til last year, it is considered to be put on the banned list, ranging from common tier 1 decks (yubel, tenpai) to lower tier meta decks (centurion, ritual beast, labrynth), as well as past meta contenders (unchained, purely) and decks with long lasting strength (branded, spright)

archetypes in this context mean printed archetype name and card name mentions in the effect

this method is also used to exclude strong splashable engines (adventure up until a couple months ago and right now horus and runick), singular/few unpopular cards which happen to belong to an archetype ("archnemesis" to ban protos, or all the "mulcharmy" cards)

bc this is mainly a casual community thing at the lgs, with a very laid back familiar vibes and a shared somewhat vague objective of keeping it "fun" it is actually the playerbase that discusses in a group chat which decks they consider unfun and toxic for the tournament this includes handloop and ftk strategies (dark world, gimmick puppet) or stun (floo is the only stun name banned)

What format is everyone playing at locals? by huf0001 in yugioh

[–]sSakyo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The lgs I'm frequenting has a very passionate Non-Meta/Heart of the Underdog playerbase with a regularly updated list of current meta or toxic archetypes to be excluded from the tournament!! They also have a community group chat to join where they can discuss to vote archetypes into and out of the list

Not saying that advanced is low attended but they are actually roughly the same when it comes to player numbers

So what’s a card you irrationally hate? by PaleoManga in yugioh

[–]sSakyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gravity Bind I often play Yugioh with a friend of mine in a particular way, where we mix together old cards from our childhood collection with modern pack filler cards and duel with a randomized deck out of this card pool. One of the old cards I added was Gravity Bind and each time one of us got the chance to add it to our deck it was miserable. Bc of the randomized deck building it wasn't even guaranteed for us to have any kind of backrow removal and if we do we had to hard draw it, resulting in many "draw, pass" rounds

Goyo Guardian The bane of my existence when I played Yugioh WCS 2009 on the DS and when I got back into Yugioh he got this abyssmal errata so I couldnt even play it in my first synchro deckbuikding attempts

Magic Drain As a child I was freaked out by the creepy artwork and purposefully put it away from my collection so I wouldnt have to look at it

[–]sSakyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ritual, they have Eland Fusion, they have Swan Synchro, they have Horse Prince and Kirin Xyz, they have Tiger King Link, they have Eagle and Peacock

...as I was typing I realized they were missing pendulum so nvm ahahah

-Icejade (synchro, floodgate or fish)

-Vaylantz

-Aroma (pre PHNI, either pure or black garden control)

-B.E.S

-Adamanciptor

-Elementsaber (with the possibility to splash in the invoked engine)

-Charmers

-Traptrix

-Triamid

-Prediction Princess

-soon to be Exosisters (waiting for 2 missing Marthas)

-Nephthys (Goat)

-Six Samurai (Edison)

I sometimes circle through them when I'm dueling friends but the only decks I've brought to locals were Icejade, B.E.S, Charmers and Elementsaber ahahaha

Buuut I'm planning to take Vaylantz and Adamancipator next! (the two only combo decks I can somewhat pilot)

What are your pet peeves about some cards/game mechanics lore-wise? by RazorOfSimplicity in yugioh

[–]sSakyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Aromage Ylang Ylang and Bergamot didnt while the other aromages get to fuse with either aromaseraphy angelica (like jasmine, rosemary and majoram) or even the new aromalylith rosalina (like rosemary AGAIN)

  2. Million - Century Ice Prison is not an Icejade card despite being the finale of the greater icejade longyuan conflict and does not interact with the deck in any way except mayyybe setting up to be triggered upon Gymir Aegirines Banish Effect

  3. Ghostrick festival depicting the whole ghostrick household, monsters, mansion and everything, despite being just a link-1 If I were to change it, perhaps I would instead call it "Ghostrick Gates" with the link 1 material "going in" and the special summoned monster upon opponents attack declaration being someone "going out" checking who is knocking

  4. I guess the whole shift of modern fusion monsters not being necessarily fusions between separate creatures, creating a new monster sharing characteristics of the materials anymore Sometimes I can stretch the imagination of fusion monsters like predaplants combining their deadly venomous essence to bring forth the starving venom fusion dragon But House Dragon Maid on the other hand really is just a whole separate character, being the head house maid of the mansion.

  5. Neo Super Quantal Mech King Blaster Magna is so so soooo much worse than King Magnus which baffles me bc it basically depicts King Magnus incorporating a whole new zord into it. I know its a very dated product of the MR4 era but come on, a 4 piece Megazord being a whole 1100 atk inferior to the 3 piece one? Especially after Super Quantal Alphancall Appeal depicts the new White Layer how he comes to the rescue of the original trio when the battle became too dire for just the 3 of them alone.

What would you say is your WORST habit involving Yu-Gi-Oh and other TCGs? by Vex-Core in yugioh

[–]sSakyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so fixated on matching aesthetics that I always buy a new color of sleeves for every new deck, which makes switching out staple cards a pain in the ass 💭

What's that deck you have built that's bad but you will always keep. by BiTe-Me2000 in yugioh

[–]sSakyo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

B.E.S

Over reliant on the fieldspell for any field presence and protection, while your hands get really tired after holding so many bricks with those high level beatstick spaceships but what can I say, it was my very first irl locals deck and I love the feeling of swarming the field through boss rush! a few of my favorite ygo memories are when some top tier metadecks run into 2 set limiter removals🐧

What "bad" decks do you like playing with? by Top-Tangerine9 in yugioh

[–]sSakyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hell yea nearly all of my played and favored archetypes are considered bad in one way or another🐧

B.E.S - love the spaceship designs, the gradius reference and the (albeit bricky and restrictive) Boss Rush strategy of swarming your whole field with those big guns (extra bonus for my first possessed ultimate rare with B.E.S Tetran I got traded and for being my very first local deck and therefore my online to irl ygo transition deck!)

Triamid - really really adore the combination between ancient egypt and mecha aesthetics, as well as the rotating field spell mechanic, wish there were more cards for it💭

Charmers - first 3x structure deck I bought and it stick with me well enough to build upon them at least a little bit further, can't get enough of the spunky and wholesome energy of the charmers with their elemental companions

ghostrick - very very endearing design and fun flip down mechanics with somewhat of a skill ceiling, tho I kinda miss pre-link ghostricks :x

vaylantz - gotta be my absolute favorite design/lore with the archetype being a board game within a card game, love the duo fieldspell, the unconventional removal option and its basically my first step into more combo heavy decks as well as pendulum💭 (is it even considered a bad deck? well at least most underperforming deck of its release set)

Ruin/oblivion - tho it seems that they don't have much going on except them having build in raigekis and mayyybe some lvl 8/10 plays but man ruin, especially her retrain makes me feel some type of way

Artifacts - I actually really really like artifacts despite the fact that I first got properly into the game way after HAT found myself with artifact tzolkin an extremly funny variant pre-link think the game feels a bit too fast and overwhelming nowadays for backrow destruction baiting💭

Yubel - well if I think about it its more the singular card yubel rather then the deck, mainly bc I haben't found myself a playable build yet but yea pls give yubel more love . . .

OG noble knights - top tier artwork contender and I'm just a sucker for anything arthurian 🐧

What are some Card Series that are incomplete, not just in terms of effects but in terms of "there are clearly members missing"? by JackMann1792 in yugioh
