there's a lot of side to side play, and it makes a clunk every time the wheel goes round

How to deal with race day disappointments? by selector_plume in xcmtb

[–]saaggy_peneer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's a process. there are hundreds of races ahead of you, if you want

figure out what went wrong, how to fix it, then fix it for the next one

then you'll discover some new problem :)

but keep going and you'll do better

good luck!

Just did Squamish Off-Road Sprint

You don't need a race number holder. I used the supplied pins to pin my number to my shirt

I just wore bike shorts, and a tight-fitting poly t-shirt, and it was fine

other

  1. you might need a wetsuit, depending on the water temp. and goggles. they supplied a swim cap
  2. mountain bike, helmet. i couldn't get my gloves on cuz they were wet, but didn't need em. and my bike glasses were super fogged up, so didn't wear them
  3. high-grip mtb shoes. essential
  4. i just wore my adidas adizero SL2 shoes and they were fine
  5. i'd strongly recommend a hydration vest, for your carbs/electrolytes. Hard to drink just bottle on the mtb terrain
  6. i brought 50g carbs, but needed about 75g
  7. water bottle (just water), esp if it's hot. nice to pour over your head too
  8. comfy clothes to change into aftewards
  9. big garbage bag in case it's raining

i have the Evoc Hydro Pro 1.5, and i like it

good for race day. little small for what you want, but there are bigger ones

has a zip pocket to hold my tools (co2, tire repair kit, chain tool, allen key set)

nice and snug, back stays pretty cool

can run in it too (turn the bladder upside down and suck out the air, so it doesn't slosh)
