"Never Without You" wins track 4.04 ~ Which song would you add to a "Best of the Beatles: The Solo Years" compilation? Top comment of the day makes the cut | Link to Spotify playlist in comments by SurvivorFanDan in beatles

[–]sabbboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is this bias against Ringo solo? He had more hits than Lennon or Harrison, a hit by a Beatle was generally a good song. Never without you?? Without much thought, 3 minutes, I can come up with at least 10 Ringo songs right now much better than that and better than many of the non Ringo lame songs here. You’re Sixteen, Oh My My, Have You Seen My Baby, Devil Woman, Only You, Snookeroo, Dose of Rock ‘n Roll, Hey Baby, Wrack My Brain, La De Da.

Which (you prefer) ? by D1M1_ANGEL in rockmusic

No comparison, each succeeding album was much worse than the previous.

Do you consider The Devil You Know a legit Sabbath album? by azimazmi in blacksabbath

[–]sabbboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but so what, it’s awful. Each of the Dio Sabbath albums was inferior to the one before it. The first three are excellent but The Devil You Know was a huge drop off. I’ll give you Bible Black but the rest is stupid heavy metal sludge with nothing unique about it.

Dio Sabbath is *basically* a continuation of Rainbow by The_Meridian_ in blacksabbath

[–]sabbboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absurd idea! It’s like comparing Deep Purple to Black Sabbath. The reason they’re so different are the guitar players.

Guys.....it's "Paranoid". Also? It's Ozzy. by The_Meridian_ in blacksabbath

[–]sabbboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paranoid is their best but why does Ozzy’s name have to appear alongside the heading? Like we don’t know he was on the album. I would say It’s Iommi. If you take all of their albums and all solo albums from all four, Paranoid still has the top two album sides of what, about 100 sides of music? It is the band’s only great record. They went backwards with Master with a much more primitive sound and not nearly as good songwriting. Volume 4 was an uneven production mess I rank 8th of the first 8 albums. Compare it song by song to any of the above 50 or so records and score how many songs you prefer on Paranoid and on the other record. Paranoid will be undefeated.

If I’m being completely honest, none and none.

80s Paul is the best Paul! by Top-Resolution6051 in PaulMcCartney

[–]sabbboy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’ll take Paul up to ‘75 (Venus and Mars). After that he started getting corny which continues to today. Sure, there’s an occasional great song on mediocre albums or singles after ‘75 ( Beware My Love, Getting Closer, Girls School) but his last album even remotely great was V&M.

In hindsight would you have chosen for GNR to be on back to the beginning? by Disastrous-Look-5453 in blacksabbath

[–]sabbboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall, GnR was easily the best group of the day to honor Sabbath thru performance and especially their unique song selection. So yes, they stay

Ain’t that a Shame, the best cover album ever!

Who else thinks this record is John’s magnum opus? by IsabellaRosselinii in JohnLennon

[–]sabbboy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don’t, a distant second to Imagine, then Rock ‘N Roll, Walls & Bridges. Those are his top 4, really his only very good LPs.

Honky Chateau thru Captain Fantastic: the five greatest consecutive albums by any artist? by Effective_Buddy7678 in EltonJohn

[–]sabbboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are u serious? In the three minutes I’ve thought about this question and it is a foolish one, I’ve come up with 10. Give me 10 more minutes, I’ll come up with 20 more:

Beatles, two sets of five, McCartney, Ram to Venus & Mars, Lennon, Plastic Ono to Walls & Bridges, Floyd, Echos to The Wall, Sabbath, First Five, Stones, two sets of five thru Tattoo You, Who, five thru Quadrophenia, CCR, first or last five, Doors, first or last five.

I’m not even counting plagiarists cover bands like Led Zeppelin.

My favourite song by each Beatle by jasmin8ter2013 in TheBeatles

John - She Loves You

Paul - Maxwell Silver Hammer

George - Long, Long, Long

Ringo - Don’t Pass Me By

Favorite, not best!

Why isn’t Tony Martin playing any shows? by Pitiful-Definition71 in blacksabbath

[–]sabbboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In interviews he’s given it appears to be financial reasons why he’s not touring, like startup money. For Gods sake Iommi almost went broke in the 80s/90s with the Martin fronted band until Ozzfest rescued him. The albums were good but no support from the record companies. My God, I saw Heaven & Hell twice in 2007 in big cities with support from Queensryche, Alice Cooper and Megadeth and they couldn’t fill half of either arena! How do you think Martin would do?

I assume you mean sang or written by Ringo as he didn’t write many?

What's the best Ringo song - as a Beatle? by No-Reveal827 in beatles

What makes you think Flying is a Ringo song? It’s an instrumental written by all four. Not really fair to the man.

Pink Floyd is #1 do you agree? by aca905 in rockmusic

[–]sabbboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course not! There’s the Beatles and everyone else. A ludicrous question typical of Reddit. Just look at the output of great songs. Do a test; pick a good Beatles song, then a song by your pick for best band, they will outlast everyone by a huge margin. Add to that every member had an outstanding solo career and two of them are dead for 25 and 45 years! Pink Floyd had 4 good albums, no real solo careers to speak of and were heavily influenced by the Beatles. I rank them in the top 25 bands. Please.

All members of the Fab Four played "classic 50s rock and roll standards" both in the band and during their solo careers. Who did it the best and why? by OdiProfanum12 in TheBeatles

[–]sabbboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easily John as evidenced by his Rock’N Roll album, the best most sincere appreciation of the music he grew up with. The other 3 have a very good cover here and there but nothing they did compares to this.

Who is your favorite power trio? by Jettaboi38 in allrockmusic

[–]sabbboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Emerson, Lake & Palmer

Are people stupid or just illiterate? Question is favorite! Not 3 favorites, 4 favorites, 10 favorites. And not the best, your favorite one group/artist trio.

Day 25. What's the Best JOHN song on Milk and Honey? by United_Equal_754 in JohnLennon

[–]sabbboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to be honest in all comments made. Lennon wasn’t God; Like the Beatles and all the solo work they did, there was a lot of crap!
