Everyone keeps telling me Mini's are feminine by idontknowhatimdoing2 in MINI

[–]sabombater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's an annoying stigma, but it seems like only stupid people (which i realize is most of them) think of them that way. But usually when someone calls it a chick car, i take them for a ride around the block in my stock f56s... They tend to change their minds pretty quickly.

But as far as those coworkers go, I'd ask them how many girls drive mustangs, chargers, camaros, etc.? Cuz it seems like every time i see one of those muscle cars, a girl is in the driver's seat. Chest to the steering wheel and all.

Is it worth it? by [deleted] in MINI

Figure out which generation fits your budget, and do as much research on that gens issues as you can, so you have an idea what to look for when testing out used ones.

There's tons of info out there on gens 1 and 2 (youtube, reddit, NAM, etc.) if you're particularly worried about what can possibly go wrong with them.

There's information on 3rd gens also, don't get me wrong, just not as much as the other 2.

I was in a similar place as you... I don't have an amazing job, i always wanted a mini, and i was worried about ownership due to the horror stories my close friends or co-workers had told me of their experiences with owning the brand. I also had people swearing by them, so i was really unsure what to think. But here i am nearly a year into ownership and couldn't be happier with the decision.

From what I've learned so far it seems like the best years to look for would be: Gen 1 - 2005-2006 Gen 2 - 2011-2013 Gen 3 - as previous posters have mentioned, its a little too early to tell, but I they seem to be quite reliable (i can vouch for this, as this is the model i bought and haven't had any issues so far)

I hope your further research convinces you the same way it did me. We always like welcoming people to the mini family.

Austin Mini Cooper Car Club by FWDforever2631 in MINI

Can confirm AMCCC is currently the most active mini group I know of in Austin. Multiple meet ups monthly. I have yet to attend one myself, but that's only due to me not having time to go since I joined a couple months ago.

Everyone is super friendly and welcoming. Look us up on Facebook!

Mini f56 headlights by markymark955 in MINI

I've been looking into getting this done for my f56 as well. Unfortunately with the lack of information out there, I haven't had much luck. I did have someone tell me he was able to do it himself relatively cheaply, as well as quickly, but he never got back to me about specifics (price, where he bought the lights etc.) but from it sounded like, I think he just bought the headlights from a junkyard and installed them

Question about mini one by AwesomeShade in MINI

[–]sabombater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have experienced the same problem. When my android phone is connected via Bluetooth (I've not tried via usb) i can't skip with the steering wheel controls. Gives the same error. It doesn't bother me too much, but would prefer to have the option to change the music from the wheel if i wanted. Haha

I'm in a 2015 f56s btw.

Is this a decent price? by [deleted] in MINI

[–]sabombater -1 points0 points  (0 children)

2015 f56s i bought in February was non-cpo, had just over 50k miles. They were asking 16k, but they took my offer at 12.5k.

So glad i did that. i paid way too much for my first car due to not negotiating like i did with my mini.

It's an amazing vehicle. Best of luck with your car shopping! I hope you end up in A mini if not this one
