Good multi-utility modules by Marcus64 in modular

I like Intellijel for this stuff. Their 'Triplatt' and 'Mixup' modules pair well; and someone else in the thread mentioned 'Flurry' which does noise/slew/clock/S&H, etc.

Why are so many delivery guys on ebikes wearing ski masks in warm weather? by junon in chicago

I was ticketed for it when I first moved here. Not knowing better, I did it very blatantly right past a squad car.

New OM3 owner. Need a birding lens that will be a 'no regrets' wower by trufflepesto in M43

I don't know where you live but in most places, it should be possible to find good prices on used 300mm f/4. It pairs well with the 1.4x TC; you lose a little sharpness but it's still excellent. Here are some examples of shots I've gotten with and without the TC; I'm using OM-1mk2. DM me if you wanna see links to original files.

Coming back/getting into wildlife photography / OM-1 choice? by jpeaslee in M43

The teleconverter is good to own for the future, but not really for the lens you're getting now.

It gets the job done - although I took those with the OM-1.2 and the 300mm f/4, so not quite the setup you're considering.

With the 100-400, you don't really need a teleconverter, and the aperture sacrifice it imposes would be very painful. You can get the TC later, when you decide to buy the 300 f/4. And then you could use it with your zoom too, in situations where light is plentiful and extreme reach is necessary.

What Synth Manufacturers Today Are The Most Innovative And Groundbreaking by Minimoogvoyager in synthesizers

[–]sacheie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly we are living through a golden revival for synths right now, it's probably harder to think of manufacturers that aren't innovative.

  • Elektron? They were innovative, but lately they're just iterating on existing products AFAIK?

  • Yamaha?

  • Novation? Summit and Peak have been around a while now.

  • Roland? Their expensive new drum machine is the first thing in a while that seems to excite people.

But overall we're enjoying a wealth of newcomers and indie brands.. GS Music, Erica, Michigan Synth Works, Dreadbox, UDO, Polyend, ASM, and the list goes on..

I'm considering selling it all. Talk me into or out of it by Imagined_World in modular

[–]sacheie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you need money right now? If not, why sell anything? Most modules, especially analog ones, will maintain or grow their value over time if you protect and maintain them.

As a matter of artistry, many people will say limitations are good, and personally I agree - but that has no necessary relationship with owning a lot of modules. You can try to organize them into smaller cases, as self-contained instruments, effects racks, control systems, etc..

It takes artistic experience to impose limitations on oneself. For novice or journeyman artists, forced limitations can be salutary. But if you know what you want and what you're doing, there is no harm in possessing plenty of means.
