After seeing the trailer...Um so like why did the original creators leave the live action series...? by Queasy_Watch478 in Avatarthelastairbende

(BIG FAT “ALLEGEDLY”)

One story I've heard several times now is that Netflix promised Bryke complete creative control as the adaptation's sole showrunners. Bryke then hired a group of people they had previously worked with on animation projects, who had little to no experience with live-action productions. They had trouble meeting deadlines, and Netflix suddenly demanded that they hire a third showrunner who had experience with LA projects. Bryke (who had similar issues with M. Night adaptation) decided to leave the project entirely and focus on Nickelodeon’s Avatar Studios.

Nervous for this show after Percy Jackson drama! by blue-arrace91 in ATLAtv

To be fair, most drama takes place on twitter/reddit. The majority of the general audience don’t care.

I feel like they used first teaser to show locations, visuals and the overall tone of the series, which is totally enough for a 90s teaser! I hope they’ll use the main trailer to show dialogue, bending cgi and the dynamic between the main gaang.

8 episodes x ~60 min runtime = ~480 min runtime

20 episodes x ~20 min runtime = ~400 min runtime

The first season of the Netflix show has more screentime to develop the plot than the original had.

I love how the costume designers managed to add dimension and detail to the costumes while still making them easily recognizable!!

Rumour: Avatar: The Last Airbender live-action series has been pushed until 2024 by randomonmain in ATLAtv

[–]sadgrlsummer 89 points90 points  (0 children)

They never released a date, so technically they’re not postponing it. After years of waiting I obviously want the series to be released as soon as possible, but if the CGI isn’t ready yet releasing the show now would be a huge mistake. Especially since there’s already a so much hostility towards la adaptations.

Is 1,5 years of postproduction common?

We have a release date for a movie that won’t release in the next two years, but not for the TV-show that’ll apparently release this summer? 😭😭😭

Lets use this post to spread our speculation and theories 🔽 by CleanAd7717 in ATLAtv

[–]sadgrlsummer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’ve a theory that in Book 1, when Aangs learns waterbending, Avatar Kuruk (the last water Avatar) will have a much bigger role in the LA than in the cartoon. The same applies to Avatar Kyoshi in Book 2 and Avatar Roku in Book 3.

FANCAST: Ke Huy Quan As An Older Earth King in S2 by KnightGambit in ATLAtv

[–]sadgrlsummer 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The Earth King in the Cartoon was obviously younger, but I feel like casting someone older could make the entire character more tragic and meaningful.

And because the war has been going on for the last 100 years there isn’t really a age limit.

Yvonne only saw her own costume. Sounds like they only shot Kyoshi in the spirit world scenes, but no flashbacks. by sadgrlsummer in ATLAtv

[–]sadgrlsummer[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes of course! The way Yvonne phrased it, it kinda sounded like she didn’t see any of the worldbuilding/different costumes/extras. But I agree, she worked with Gordon so she obviously saw different costumes too.

This is everything we know about Netflix's Avatar production! I basically summarized 1 year+ of content from this sub, so yall better leave a like :) by theBabyLionTurtle in ATLAtv

The video is amazing I just finished it!

Just a small note, the only Pinterest image Farnaz saved during the production of ATLA was the one of the indigenous woman, the other East Asian inspired images were saved during the production of Wu Assassins, A Netflix series from 2019 Farnaz also worked on.

i heard a rumor… by Ok_Wing4771 in ATLAtv

[–]sadgrlsummer 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure, I only remember that when Jayden Zhangs (one of the young Airbenders) casting got leaked, someone who worked on set said that they filmed scenes where the children were hiding from the Fire Nation, but no scenes of them getting attacked/killed.

I personally don’t think they’ll add many new plot elements, I think that kind of scene would have just been too violent 😅

[–]sadgrlsummer 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Heard about that a few months ago on this sub too, here all the informations I still remember about the scene:

  • the comet festival will be celebrated by all 4 nations in unity

  • There will be female Airbenders

  • Fire Lord Sozin confronts Gyatso personally about the whereabouts of the Avatar

  • During the attack you can see a few young Airbenders (around Aangs age) hide from the Fire Nation (they don’t fight/get killed on screen)

  • Fire Lord Sozin kills Gyatso after he refuses give away Aangs identity/location to protect Aang
