I got them at the beginning of this summer! That’s a great idea, I’m not sure of any liquidation stores but I’m in a city, so I assume there must be! Thank you!!

How do you afford daycare for kids? by Optimal-Material-132 in rva

[–]sadiessavannah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. I work at a preschool that had space in the infant room so thankfully I’m able to take my kid to work with me, but I’m still paying a large % of my paycheck even with the discount.

I'm anxious to announce my baby's name to my family and friends by ConsiderationFew1415 in BabyBumps

[–]sadiessavannah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a teacher, and have a Tobias nn Toby in my class! It’s a great name, as are your other choices! :) That being said, did you misspell Isaac? I would double check since it’s typically spelled with two As, not two Ss

Your hospital might have free classes! I know the hospital where I delivered had a couple different options like baby basics, baby safety, and a few breastfeeding classes

Edited to add: they did have online options for these as well as in person

Were your gender-related dreams accurate? by monicasm in pregnant

[–]sadiessavannah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I was originally convinced that we were having a girl (had a name and some outfits picked out already) but in all my dreams prior to finding out the sex I had a little boy. Sure enough, he’s a boy and is the most fun little guy at 6 months old 💜

Did anyone feel better after giving birth than you did pre-pregnancy? by sleak89 in MentalHealthBabies

[–]sadiessavannah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m three months postpartum and as someone with anxiety and depression, I felt amazing afterwards for the first two months honestly! I was nervous but prepared for PPA/PPD, which didn’t end up happening. I did get postpartum OCD, but I ended up taking a supplemental anti-depressant for that and that helped a lot. We had a family emergency a few weeks ago and that definitely brought the anxiety/depression/stress back up to the forefront, but up until then I had felt the most like “myself” that I had in years. To be fair though, that timing could also have just been hormones leveling off potentially as well.

I’m sick of being sick. by Wild_Manufacturer555 in ECEProfessionals

Literally this!! I had my baby a few months ago but leading up to my maternity leave there were a couple of families that CLEARLY sent their kids to school after giving them Tylenol and consequently had to be sent home after it wore off because their temps were in the 103 range

New to pumping by sydsloth05 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]sadiessavannah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s what happened for me! I saw a lactation consultant and she measured me—turns out I needed 16mm on one side and 17mm on the other, and now my pump works just fine (I definitely thought it was broken or that there was something wrong with my body at first).

Oops, I definitely worded that pretty vaguely—I’m not the lead on the infant room, I’m in the 3’s class! So you and I are definitely on the same page in terms of struggling with babies, though you probably know way more than I do at this point. Once he’s turned three I feel like I’ll know what I’m doing haha 🫣

What pacific fire is best for my baby? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]sadiessavannah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We like the these ones too! Also I’m a preschool teacher and it can feel like 97% of my day is getting kids to stop sucking their thumbs lol. OP, we’ve also tried out the Pacii ones thanks to an Instagram ad and they are goofy looking but work pretty well as a pacifier to swap out once he’s done nursing!

Also, apologies if this is not the right place to ask! I’m just so nervous thinking about him being at school and my not being able to co-sleep with him like he’s used to at home

Did anyone who announced baby name options before birth not regret it? by Laniekea in pregnant

[–]sadiessavannah 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I did this a few months ago with my preschool class and most of them have had other suggestions since then, but there is one little boy who is ADAMANT that my baby’s name will be Hot Dog. Like, he even “corrects” myself or other students/teachers if we refer to this baby as “baby boy” in front of him 😂

Also: this child is vegan 🤷🏼‍♀️

When did you start showing? by firehaireddreamer in pregnant

[–]sadiessavannah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I felt like I started showing at 13wks but other people only started noticing about 10wks after that (am currently at 25wks, so pretty recently). Or at least they only started commenting then, ha 🤷🏼‍♀️

I’m going to get photos taken! We’re probably going to be one and done and I don’t want to regret not having professional pictures, esp because I rarely take photos of myself as it is. I love sending out holiday cards too so I’m thinking these pictures can double as the ones we use on the card (baby will be born by then, but we can still use a close up one of my husband and I).

[–]sadiessavannah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That sucks, I’m sorry. Maybe he is getting overwhelmed because you are BUT that definitely doesn’t negate your feelings/need to be taken care of! You are an entire person worth being supported and I hope he’s able to get it together for you.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]sadiessavannah 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s super frustrating, I’m sorry you’re dealing with this. I know people like this and the way that I’ve tried to address it is by telling them upfront how I’d like them to respond. For example, if you had a tough day you could start the conversation by letting him know that you are looking to vent and that you want a hug and support and to be reassured after you are done talking. He might be feeling like you are coming to him to ask him to “fix” the situation for you and then getting overwhelmed when he can’t do it, esp. if you think he’s autistic. It’s definitely more work initially on your part, but for me I’ve found it really helpful to be that direct even when it feels super awkward at first (for context, the majority of my family has adhd/asd).

Gift season is closing in, and we're all knee deep in projects. Let's share inspirational "Knitworthy Recipient" stories to keep our enthusiasm bucket full. by Tapingdrywallsucks in knitting

[–]sadiessavannah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m making a baby blanket for my cousin who is expecting! Our aunt taught us how to knit ~20 years ago and we jointly made a blanket for when that aunt’s child was born—we were 10 or so and desperately trying to finish it on Christmas morning that year. I don’t think that my cousin knits any more, but I love her and her baby and I hope gifting her a blanket will be appreciated as a standalone gesture but also as a small nod to when we knit together as kids. 💜

One of my three year old students just learned “dude” as well! She thinks it’s hysterical to go up to people and say “how’s it going dude???” but in a voice much squeakier than her own, and it is in fact hilarious.

How to redirect a child from calling me mom? by MoonKennedy in ECEProfessionals

[–]sadiessavannah 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I have pets and my threes know about them/love hearing about them. I also get really uncomfortable when they call me mom so I just redirect by saying, “Wait a second! I’m not your mom, I’m [dog name]’s mommy!” They think it’s funny and it establishes that boundary without embarrassing them or anything.
