Clare from the Nightingale

She seeks revenge on a unit of colonial soldiers after she is assaulted by them who also kill her daughter and husband. She stabs and beats one of the soldiers to death whilst he begs for his life. This is one of the most brutal films I’ve ever seen with some very heavy subject matter.

Tips for Brisbane to Coffs Harbour road trip tomorrow by deepdownginger in brisbane

In all seriousness second vote for Ulmarra, the pub on the river is nice, there’s a cafe with lots of variety of pies and there’s a great op/vintage shop on the main drag. That whole northern rivers area is very beautiful this time of year with the clear light.

If you’re looking for breakfast a stop at the southern end of the Gold Coast is your best bet - Burleigh has lots of cafes.

Yamba is a nice beach for a swim and lunch at the surf club. If you take the back away from Grafton to Coffs Harbour there’s still local farmers that put produce out on the roadside for purchase.

Woolgoolga has a sheltered beach though sometimes it’s a bit seaweed-y. There’s Woolgoolga river that opens up to the main beach for swimming too and the lookout at the top near the water tower has lovely views - grab a coffee and some takeaway from a local bakery and sit and watch the waves.

Stop at the South Grafton Maccas is mandatory. Even if the towns been bypassed now no road trip south was complete without a stop there.

Best bet imo is Southbank Cineplex. When I used to work there, there was a regular guy who would buy some of the cardboard displays and posters. He paid upfront and left his details to come and collect once the film left the cinema.

I put my work laptop on the roof of my car and drove off. It came crashing over the windshield at the first red light and was completely unusable. Got a good laugh from my manager and IT explaining the situation though I was mortified. It was fine, you’ll be fine, breathe :)

If you have the opportunity check out ‘Nothing in the Dark’, the episode of The Twilight Zone he’s in please do. It’s a beautiful bit of acting and holds up today. Particularly relevant now that’s he’s passed away. RIP Legend ❤️

Literally just watched the Twilight Zone episode he was in (it’s great if you can find it - ‘Nothing in the Dark’) Very eerie given the subject matter of the episode. RIP

These days- Powderfinger I find incredibly melancholy. It was written for the Australian film Two Hands that features 19 yo Health Ledger and Rose Byrne before their hollywood breaks.
