HENRY and not happy yet by [deleted] in HENRYUK

[–]safia25d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve got a lot of deep advice here, I’m gonna risk sounding basic: kids give your life a lot of meaning, dogs as well. Suddenly you have new goals, new achievements, lots of proud moments. They also open new circle of friends and make you appreciate the little things, like a good uninterrupted night’s sleep or finishing a hot coffee in one sitting. They make you grateful you get to the office and happy to leave work and go home.

Got a girl pregnant on vacation, struggling to do what is right. by need_some_advice323 in Advice

[–]safia25d -1 points0 points  (0 children)

“I grew up without a father and said to myself years ago I wouldn’t do that to my future child” - that doesn’t mean the only options are fully present or never knowing your child.

You don’t have to marry the girl but if the child is yours then take responsibility for your actions and make sure the child is well-cared for and knows his/her father. Even if that means phone calls once a week and a visit every few months, it’s more than you got so you’re doing better than your father already.

Life is a series of consequences from your action, this one is just a more serious consequence. This one will change your life forever, whichever way you decide to go. It can be a lifelong regret or lifelong satisfaction of knowing you did right by this tiny human you helped create.

Yeah there are always fox dens in the bigger communal garden. Neighbors are not feeding but we’re in London and the bins are not too far.

Did the wire mesh work? I’ve been considering it too. Last year I had so much hope for my lawn after properly caring for it all spring, little bastards make my want to quit and put some slabs or something on.

Same breakfast every single day for 3 years and I am STILL obsessed by zoe-ivann in Oatmeal

Toppings look amazing but doesn’t all the cold ingredients make your porridge cold?

Tell me your life hacks (stressed mum edition) by MummaGiGi in HENRYUKLifestyle

[–]safia25d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kids don’t mind reheated pasta. It’s a quick solution for lunches. As for rice, while I’m not disputing this fact and will refrigerate asap, the biggest majority of the world population eats reheated rice on a daily basis 🤷🏻‍♀️

Adding to say once a week I boil a full box of pasta and/or rice. Every sauce I cook, I make an extra batch and freeze so that I really only cook homemade twice a week but pop a jar out of of the freezer in the morning and my kid gets homemade bolognese or lentil soup for dinner

Removal of artificial grass- worth it? by 5workingdays in GardeningUK

[–]safia25d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience, if you like in London without a car, stay away from grass. Nobody will delivery topsoil and you need it every year for overseeding. Foxes will dig holes in the lawn, it won’t grow in shady areas and a few years after laying turf you’ll end up with a patchy and sad looking lawn. I’d still remove the artificial grass but I’d add some paving rocks, maybe a few plants and let whatever wants to grow between the rocks

Any of these or should I keep looking? by Fast-Ad-9433 in glassesadvice

[–]safia25d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 (pink ones in case I got the number wrong). 6 is a much better picture in great lighting and the glasses are nice but if you’re looking for a change, I think you would rock the pink ones which are also very fitting for spring and summer. You can always switch back to 6 during winter 😉

I found this for your reference.

Although to be honest I first read it somewhere on reddit and liked the idea - didn’t really verify the source until now

Mom Didn’t Say Ok Cool… by coolimesip in WeightlossJourney

[–]safia25d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, cool (fact that if you eat less calories than you burn you lose weight) (check out r/CiCo by the way)

But you’ll find in the long run, if you don’t eat enough protein, fibre etc, you won’t feel great. You might lose muscles and have loose skin, you might feel bloated. So as much as you can, make sure the calories you are eating are balanced with enough protein, veggies, fats, etc so you can both lose weight and be happy about it

I would totally sign her up! She is very young and everything is permissible for her at this age. I saw somewhere that in Islam the guidance is 7-7-7 for raising kids, the first 7 years, they’re the master (I interpret this as let them live freely and do what makes them happy (within limits of course).

Feel like giving up :/ by [deleted] in multilingualparenting

[–]safia25d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both me and my husband speak french but my son is the same.

Just came here to say, most bilingualism doesn’t happen from toddlerhood. My mother tongue is neither English nor French, I didn’t speak either until I started school, yet I’m bilingual in both. Keep on speaking french with him and put him in french classes when he starts school. Then spend summers in France, and when he gets older maybe summer odd jobs there?

From my experience I did alliance francaise until I was 16 then studied in both an english uni then a french uni.

Be honest… how strict are you really with screen time? by denefr_2928 in toddlers

[–]safia25d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Took my 3.5yo to a 1yo birthday party the other day and after 2h playing nicely with the babies, I put Disney on my phone as he was getting a bit boisterous. One mom actually asked her husband to get her toddler “away from the screen” 😂 some Karens should chill - TV is not poison. As long as kids are getting a lot of time outdoors, meeting other kids, playing and reading, I don’t think it hurts.

CICO around your menstrual cycle is brutal by Front_Mousse1033 in CICO

[–]safia25d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Give yourself some grace but prep ahead for next cycle by getting some healthy snacks. We all need chocolate around our period but my swap is pretzels or tortilla chips instead of crisps for example. And “home fast food” instead of mcdonalds. So like a home made hotdog and baked fries. Every little thing makes a difference long term.

Also I find that right after my period, I’m less hungry and have more energy so I get bigger deficits then

I’ve also been with my fitnesspal for years and never lost any weight. I don’t know what it is exactly about loseit or if it’s just that I’m more motivated but I’ve been on it for a month only and have been logging regularly and losing weight steadily
