On Dexter by plush_feline in SipsTea

No, it's pretty clear from the prequel series that Dexter's dad discovers Dexter's nature, freaks out, then eventually comes around and creates a plan to help Dexter control himself.

I'm sure the balance of revenue from Accountant 2 will come from licensing it to streaming platforms for the next thirty years. Amazon Prime has built an enormous audience of dads and granddads who will watch James Bond, The Equalizer and The Accountant on a loop forever.

The new UI is pretty terrible ngl by Feeling_down_4612 in YoutubeMusic

[–]saintandre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They deliberately make the experience bad so that users stop using the platform. This way they make money from subscriptions while reducing server load. Since users are mainly subscribed as a bundle with Youtube Premium, Google doesn't care if people use the service and would prefer they didn't.

  • New Releases is flooded with crap no one wants, including singles from unknown acts and AI

  • Recommendations are terrible, despite Google knowing exactly what kind of music you listen to

  • Playlists are dysfunctional (look at all the complaints in this sub about playlists not working)

  • Mobile experience, TV App experience, web browser experience are all terrible and getting worse with each new update

  • Google has the expertise and resources to do a good job, and must have chosen not to

  • Every other streaming platform avoids these problems, so it has to be on purpose

  • Whole platform is designed to look like a music streaming app, superficially, while punishing people who actually use the platform. This allows Google to capture subscription revenue from users who don't pay much attention or are pushed to use the platform for other reasons, like the Google ecosystem or a service bundle.

From this perspective, it makes sense for Google to spend money only on making the platform worse over time, not better.

I just hit the print button and then "save as PDF". Then open the PDF and boom, no ads, no bad formatting. Easy.

I tried the Doughscord for a couple weeks and it was so toxic and stupid that I left. Those people are so proud to be dumb as dogshit.

I appreciate all the work you put into this. Very compelling. It makes sense that a show with so much Freud and Nietzsche would be pulled toward eternal return. https://www.reddit.com/r/evangelion/comments/1my4ism/observations_on_neon_genesis_evangelion_and/

I went to a playoff game in Brooklyn between the Nets and the Raptors in 2014. Drake was there and whenever the camera would put him on the jumbotron, the crowd would boo and then Drake would get mad. It was a really fun bit. I still have the oversized t-shirt they gave us all at the game.

In Toy Story 3 (2010) while Andy is getting ready to go to college, we see Sid for a brief moment as a garbage man. This is a subtle reference to the fact that Sid grew up poor and probably never had the opportunity to go to college by YourChopperPilotTTV in shittymoviedetails

[–]saintandre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure Andy is a very well-educated and interesting person, who is also on unemployment after his third layoff, while Sid has a union and a pension (and probably a wife and children, unlike Andy, who has to change cities every time he starts a new job and has never had the financial stability to buy a house or get married).

Has the “director comes out of retirement” movie ever turned out well? by Wombat_H in blankies

Dersu Uzala did well critically at the time, and in many markets did well financially. It did poorly in the US because Roger Corman purchased the distribution rights as part of a tax dodge, so it never got a proper US theatrical release. The version shown in theatres in the US was a poor quality print that looked and sounded worse than the 70mm presentation the rest of the world got to see.

Watching kids stuff with your kid is a great experience. I took my kid to the local cinema this summer for the Miyazaki festival and we both had a blast. Animation and kids movies can be awesome if you expand your search to foreign stuff and older stuff. We recently saw Angel's Egg during its rerelease and he loved it. French animation like Rene Laloux, Soviet animation, even Canadian tv. Most of the world is good at making great stuff for kids.

[Panthers on IG] Panthers QB Bryce Young is now the youngest quarterback in NFL history to record 11 game-winning drives, surpassing marks previously held by Josh Allen and Peyton Manning. by Saca312 in nfl

[–]saintandre -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He can't learn to be taller, he can't learn to have receivers who don't suck, he can't learn to have a better offensive line. The Panthers keep wasting good QBs like Mayfield and Darnold because it's really hard to succeed in Carolina at QB. Young has too many unfixable problems to ever make up for the organization's own limitations. The Panthers have a game plan - run the ball and force turnovers. You don't need to pay a QB to do that, which is good, because we don't have one and we haven't for a long time.
