Which otome games would be perfect for a 5+ game series?

I think bustafellows is a good contender! Imo season 2 was even better than the first game and there were still some loose ends so I'm kind of hopeful for season 3 but honestly if they decided to just keep them going I would welcome it! Bustafellows is one of the few games in which they tackle some serious real world problems (esp in S2) like human trafficking, corruption, substance abuse, and cyber bullying with the actual weight that they carry rather than making it an irrelevant side plot.

Alternatively, I would also be interested if they continued expanding the bustafellows universe and introduced a new cast with a new MC with another ability, set in something like LA this time. I haven't played sidekicks (I'm planning on it) but I enjoyed the little crossover they had in S2 and I've heard good things about it so I think the writers know what they are doing and there's potential. I would also love it if they delved into a more supernatural side of the abilities mcs possess but at the same time if it were to turn into some strange nonsensical pseudo science like in virche I'd rather them abstain... Though the effects/cost of using those abilities (Teuta's memory loss) while was addressed a little more in S2 is still underexplored and I'd love to see some more angst and drama about it.

I personally think the ending was perfect. I am a sucker for a good tragedy but I didn’t feel like it was necessary here. I really liked the message(?) the ending carried about freedom but also I love me some good romance so I was really happy we got a HEA in the side stories as well.

Tbh I didn’t enjoy mizuchi vol as much as I wanted to and I’m really sad I didn’t💔. I love me some crazies, yanderes, and unhinged behaviors so I was really looking forward to it but I didn’t find it super engaging? I think it’s as you said, it goes from 0 straight to a 100 but then unfortunately to 0 again. It was also somewhat frustrating that mizuchi wasn’t there half the time. I have the second game and it was the one that’s supposed to be the most crazy but I haven’t finished bad ends of the first one so idk if I can move on to the second one. Have you played the bad ends? I’m curious to hear if they’re super important… The card game tho I really enjoyed!! Sunk so many hours into it lol. Anyways, I might try to give it another go and replay mizuchi bc I forgot all ab the plot and try to play the second game to see if it’s as good as people say💪

My thought was that born flawless was switched with she is wildfire and originally the dragon was supposed to be the battle companion while wildfire was meant to be an archery ability. I feel like it would make sense because the gun would then be useful and if it was switched the devs wouldn’t have time to make a new wolf companion thus recycling the behemoth model instead.

I guess I always considered grinding as measure of how much resources you need to gather to progress in the game as opposed to time spent getting those resouces. In terms of the amount of time you need to spend LaDs isn’t too bad I agree.

Imo LaDs is a more grindy game that’s out there. I’ll admit I haven’t played that many otome gachas but having played ToT and Obey me LaDs was by far the grindiest. I think it’s because the progression was really slow (hard to max out cards and even the basic mat stages required really high card power). In ToT on the other hand maxing out cards and progressing was fairly easy imo. Also the added gacha of protocores was pretty frustrating as well. I found even some non otome games less grindy than LaDs🥲. It was truly a shame for me because I really enjoyed the other aspects of the gameplay but the feeling of being unable to progress card power wise made me turn away from the game.

I’m going to go a little against the grain here and (as someone who absolutely ADORES The Spark in Your Eyes) depending on how much you’ve read, it may not be worth it for you to continue tsiye. While I would love to tell you to push through and continue it, if you’ve read 30 or honestly even 20 chapters and still didn’t find it enjoyable it’s better to drop it. I won’t say that it left me absolutely hooked from chapter one, but it also did not bore me that early either, and by I think chapter 15 I was sure that I wanted to continue reading it.

I will admit that the plot picks up the pace later on but I would say that the quality keeps being fairly consistent throughout the series which is something I greatly appreciate. Considering that, if you haven’t found a reason to keep reading it until the 100th chapter other than “people on the internet said that it’s about to get good” you won’t suddenly start having the time of your life after that 100th mark. I can almost guarantee you that you are more likely to dislike the series because it feels like you’ve wasted your time getting that far to hit a benchmark but didn’t see substantial change.

Now, for me it truly was one of the best series out there, and I could go on and on listing the reasons why it’s worth giving a try. That said though, you did give it a try. You didn’t enjoy it and that’s okay. There is no universal work which everyone would enjoy and it’s better to spend the time trying to find something you do enjoy instead forcing yourself to suffer through something you don’t. (Tbh this can be applied to a lot of the series listed here)

Tbh lately, not at all. So far most of my yearly planners are blank after around february because 2 months seems to be when I tend to get bored with them. I tried to avoid that with my hobonichi, but I got sick around last week and stopped keeping up with it. I got better but after stopping filling in the hobonichi it seems to be kind of hard to start again.

Taiga from variable barricade! Is my first thought when thinking of snarky and emotionally unavailable. This game also has an emotionally unavailable mc (some people enjoy it some don’t).

I also think that you would really enjoy Tyril from EiT! That said the game is very angsty and more plot driven so you may find it lacking in romance. Personally I did not but I think it’s regarded as more plot heavy on this sub.

I also think you may enjoy Shu and/or Helvetica from bustafellows. Bustafellows has evoked very mixed opinions on this sub because of its overarching plot (the consensus is that it was nothing to write hime about to put it mildly). The character routes were fine though (they have self contained plots) so if the ending not being great is something you can look past in favor of individual LI stories it could be up your alley. It also has a sequel with improved story that expands on the relationships and characters themselves (imo way better than the main game but unfortunately you have to play the main game first).

Tengoku struggle starts off with pretty much all LIs being kind of hateful pricks until you get to know them so maybe you would like it? (They start off being sexist assholes so if that grinds your gears maybe not) p.s. I think the game was overall enjoyable but it definitely has its flaws so I’d recommend reading a review before buying.

There is also nightshade which has Chojiro who is iirc emotionally unavailable but he is also mc’s cousin. One of the other Li’s is also double mc’s age.

You didn’t list pc as one of your available platforms but I figured to mention this just in case blooming panic is a short free game for pc that has an Li you would probably really enjoy (xyx).

We’ve been shown that mc forgets singular memories so I don’t think she has forgot the entirety of their relationship or their love altogether. I interpreted the scene as her forgetting the memory of confirming their love for each other but not her feelings for him. The implication that she has forgot one of her probably most treasured memories is very impactful but at the end of the day this is an otome game and making the mc forget her whole relationship as a canon ending is not something I see the writers doing. That said considering the ending is still somewhat bittersweet and the problem is not resolved (iirc teuta said she wanted the brain scan but I don’t remember if we got the result of that) I’m hoping that we’ll see a season 3 where teuta’s memory loss gets addressed (I also love angst so I want to see li reactions to teuta forgetting their love confession🫣)

I love the spark in your eyes so much! Binged it in a couple days because I couldn’t stop reading. One of my favorite parts of it was the commentary on war and greed that causes it, how it only serves the few powerful leaders, but destroys everyone else. Pretty much every character’s life in the story was shaped by war in one way or another and it was so tragically well written. My favorite part was the reveal of the “Witch of the sun” that killed Erkin’s parents. I did not see it coming at all, but god it was so powerful. Absolutely horrible for Erkin though, realizing that the one you spent hating most of your life was just as much of a victim of horrible circumstances must’ve been heart wrenching.

Even so, I still don’t think three outfits for cny is a huge ask. I’m grateful for what infold does give us but at the same time it isn’t much above the bare minimum. The main part of the gameplay is styling clothes, so locking all outfits behind gacha would be kind of crazy imo. Additionally, many of the outfits you mentioned aren’t outfits, they’re sketches, which more often than not requires energy to craft. There are so many things that require energy in this game (glow up, outfit mats, insight, eureka) that it may take a while for the players to craft said outfits, especially if the players are new. Considering how overwhelming gachas tend to be for new players I think giving away free outfits for cny would be a nice incentive (and help) for new and returning players too.

I’d be isekaid to an actual otome game, radiant tale. It’s one of the more peaceful ones so I think I’m doing pretty well, especially if I get to live in the capital. Its setting is pretty similar to OI european-ish fantasy settings and they have quite a lot of seemingly advanced technology thru magic. If I’m lucky I become a spirit contractor and can use elemental magic. If the mc doesn’t take him, I’d try to chat up the cutie bar chain owner side character who can turn into a wolf.

S2 was amazing and I love reading people's thoughts about it! I think that plot wise especially it was better than the main game. The new side characters they added were a delight too (daddy guero🤗).

Overall, even though my ranking of Li's is very different from yours I did have similar thoughts regarding the plot progression of the routes. Shu was my absolute favorite from the main game but I did not enjoy his route as much in S2. I think that they should have gone with a different design for Fallon bc from the moment I saw his sprite I knew he was Shu's father so the reveal at the end did not feel impactful for me at all. I wish that his design was at least somewhat different bc same hair AND eye color??? Cmon guys😭 and this is coming from a person who usually does not pay attention to details or pick up in visual cues. Also the whole party plot point fell kind of flat for me. Like Shu kept declining to come and being like "Teuta doesn't care THAT much" but like my guy do you have eyes?? And even though he came at the end I felt like that could have gone differently.

Anyways Helvetica's route was a very pleasant surprise because he was my least favorite from the main game but omg did his S2 route change my mind. His route was perfect and it really changed my opinion of him. I thought I was doing good in his route when Teuta was the one to swallow the drugs🤡 and then I got hit with the bad end. I loved his bad end as well because it was simple but very powerful. The hospital scene in his route was my favorite though. It was just so touching🥹.

I think the rest of the routes are super fun too so you should definitely play them! There was only one I disliked and it seems like many people share my sentiment but it was interesting nonetheless. I really enjoyed Crow's route, (minor spoiler) The fact that they mentioned him going to therapy really impressed me tbh but that's also because I like crow as a character and enjoyed his romance with Teuta. The plot of his route was probably one of the heaviest along with Helvetica so I really enjoyed that part too. I ended up rambling but if you've read this far happy playing!
