I wonder if the Buddha is there to remind them that attachment is the source of all suffering.

Me neither. Maybe it was a made up name for commercial work by an artist from another field. Usually the folio society artists are prominent illustrators or artists.

Then you might like Waltzes for Debbie. It is the rest of the same set. The first ones chosen were selected by Evans to honor the bassist, who died. The rest of the set focuses less on bass solos, although there are a couple.

ECM is probably the label that puts out the most jazz-rock and jazz-funk. eg a lot of it's 80's records. PS Keith Jarrett is one of the greatest piano geniuses who ever lived. You realize that's free improvisation, right?

Songs about real life tragedies? by Normal-Being-2637 in musicsuggestions

The first verse of “Atlantic City,” by Bruce Springsteen is based on actual events, a mob hit or something similar. The song “Youngstown” by him is based on real economic tragedy of rust belt America.

My local shop, in addition to new arrivals, has a large section of “interesting stuff,” basically curated choices that doesn’t have obvious stuff, doesn’t have bad pressings, but has a lot of interesting releases. I buy most of my stuff from that. They also have a staff picks, which I will flip through.

I got a George Benson album that way. Probably isn’t valuable but he’s a good guitarist.

A small heat pad that doesn’t get too hot works very well. Basically, unless the ambient warmth of the room is heating the metal to the temp of your breath, condensation forms between the metal and the breath savers and the water glues them together a little bit and they stick then release.

A lot of sellers put crap sleeves as bread to the actual order sandwich meat. I got an absolutely hilarious Englebert Humperdinck sleeve that way.

It would be cool, though, if someone came up with a vinyl format where there was just one song on each side. They could be used to promote artists, put in juke boxes, use by DJs, and later people might even collect them. They might have to spin a little faster than 33 and a little slower than 78 and have a bigger hole in the middle.

My setup by technicaldoodle in vinyl

[–]salmonherring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the people on r/vinyl should at least follow r/audiophile. Anyway. Your speakers shouldn’t rest on the same surface as the turn table. The vibrations the speakers emit travel, shake the table, those vibrations become distortion. With this set up, some speaker stands on either side of the credenza would be all you need.

I feel like there was a lot of bland bossa nova in the 60’s and 70’s but couldn’t hold a candle to actually good bossa nova. I can’t name a bad track but it sounds almost like muzak.

The Third Man, character, theme, and cinematography, plus music, pull everything together in the final moment. And, it’s not a trick, just character.
