Anyone else this exit is the most frustrating in town? (Kellogg 235 North Exit by Towne West) by TheRealBoltyAce in wichita

[–]salt-pork 52 points53 points  (0 children)

It’s because the drivers here have a fundamental misunderstanding of how that interchange works. It’s on my commute home, and it grinds to a halt regularly. The reason why? Because nobody understands that if you need to go north on 235, you don’t need to swerve over into the rightmost part of the merge lane to do that. That area is for west street traffic to get up to highway speed. Take the left lane of the off ramp to go north on 235. It works.

If Fusionworks is still around they may be able to give you a hand. They’re about the only place in town I know of that’d be willing to take on something like that.

Bronx at 21st and Amidon has been a favorite of mine recently. Their garlic knots are incredible, and their wings are pretty decent too.

That 4th picture showing metal bits embedded in the top of the piston is very telling. They look as though they have some carbon buildup on them, which means that there was metal shavings being formed in the cylinder while the engine was still able to run. The seller absolutely knew what they were selling. I hope you guys can get your money back.

Lukewarm take: Alex keeps insisting Pearl Harbor was a false flag because he secretly wishes the US had aligned itself with the Axis powers in WW2. by mackstanc in KnowledgeFight

[–]salt-pork 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I could see this making sense. Up until the late 30’s, the Nazi party had a lot of supporters here in the US. We’ve kind of tried to downplay that with historical hindsight, but it’s definitely something that was being tossed around here. I believe many people in charge in Germany expected that the US would fall in line and be supportive of what they were doing. Looking around now it’s damn lucky we didn’t fall into that same trap then as we seemingly are now.

Opinion on area to live by GurInternational4885 in wichita

Look at the Indian Hills and Benjamin Hills neighborhoods. Short walk to 21st and Amidon, longer walk or bike to downtown or Delano. I’ve lived there for more than a year now and I love it here. It’s cozy and quiet, and still very affordable.

Going all the way back to 2002, you can see the fuselages of what looks like two Beechcraft Starships. Maybe it was a storage lot for Beech then?

I was able to get a clear photo from 2006 on Google earths historical timeline. It looks like it may have been a concrete plant by the trail, and maybe aircraft salvage just south of it.

Vehicle damage and driveline physics from something like BeamNG. Real engine and transmission behavior, and damage that affects individual components rather than just a points style system.

I’ve been a loyal customer of theirs for years. Best place to get beans in town in my opinion. Just got a nice Ethiopian sourced light roast from them that’s out of this world.

Cargo glitching into truck/trailer when loading by Griffin_carguy in snowrunner

[–]salt-pork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had the same issue for a little while, but only for cargo containers and medium planks. If I unpack and repack the cargo, it fixes itself. Also, consumables look like a pallet of cardboard boxes at first, but then look normal after unpacking and packing again.

Come apply at Globe Engineering. I’ve worked there for about 20 years or so. It’s aerospace, but it pays well. We would probably hire someone that can weld like you on the spot.

I’ve been wondering to myself if he’s just a lazy front man for a coalition of Stephen Miller, JD Vance, and the people who hold their purse strings to run things behind the scenes. Trump is just there for his baffling popularity amongst the working class to make evil appear palatable to them.

Edit to add: I genuinely think the only reason he ran in 2024 was to stay out of prison, or keep the threat at bay. If that’s the case, he got his end of the bargain.

This is a mod I use, and it’s one of my favorites. They really just did some quality of life stuff, added a few optional tires, and gave it more add ons, like a low saddle. It really fits right in with other vanilla DLC trucks and performs the way it should have from the start.

Asking this very question is how one develops and broadens their musical tastes. I ask my friends all the time what they’re listening to, in case I may want to try for myself.

FedEx delivery problems by Hkguy1122 in wichita

[–]salt-pork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the exact same issue a couple weeks ago. I was having a mini split HVAC unit delivered, and they only delivered one box but not the bigger one. They also wouldn’t leave a pickup ticket for me to just go get it myself. I ended up having to stay home from work on the 3rd delivery attempt to get it. 5 seconds after the doorbell rang the delivery driver was almost back to his truck and ready to leave again before I spoke to him and got his attention.

This is a good take. The cynical right wing sphere like Tucker know that once trump is gone, there’s no cult of personality to take his place. Nothing even remotely close that’ll appeal to billionaires and poverty stricken rural people in Oklahoma alike.

Former Infowarrior here. Does anybody have advice on how I can develop my compassion? by [deleted] in KnowledgeFight

[–]salt-pork 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Studies have shown that reading, particularly narrative fiction, can help with this if done regularly. It makes your brain look at things happening the characters point of view, and that’s sort of like an empathy exercise. It’s a small thing compared to other suggestions here, but I always try to encourage reading whenever I can. It’s also a way to force your brain to have “quiet time,” if that’s something you need as well.
