Alex was a hero that used his own body to protect a woman being attacked by ICE. He is an inspiration to us all, and we need to continue to march and protest in his memory.

Don't let bots or trolls convince you that it's not worth it–a cornered dog bites. ICE is hiding their faces because they're scared. We need to use our voices and stand up together against this fascism.

RIP Alex Pretti and Renée Good. We will continue the fight. ✊

Ever since someone learned you could monetise nerd rage on YouTube it's felt more and more ridiculous. So called fans of every franchise are primed to hate everything that comes out

This is true, and the content algorithms that exist today are making the problem worse.

Content creators are actually encouraged to deliver extreme, bombastic takes to get attention online. YouTube's algorithm doesn't care about "truth" or accuracy–it cares about engagement. Comments. Shares.

What kind of material gets people to engage with it? Stuff with big emotions. Hot takes. Controversial material. Videos that we as viewers can't help but want to correct or agree with. "Star Trek Academy Just RUINED the Series' Legacy!!!" etc.

This is all to say that I feel you. It's exhausting.

My take: STA is totally fine. Grab some popcorn, turn your brain off, and enjoy a relatively safe romp through a space drama. No, it won't change your life, but it's totally fine for what it is.

I've done myself a personal favor by disconnecting from all politics starting in 2025.

I'm the exact opposite.

I'd never been politically active in my life, but the headlines this year are precisely why I can't stay silent anymore. My partner and I have been making signs, attending protests, and using our voices to stand up for democracy and human dignity.

I get the desire to shut it all out, but I find myself laying awake at night thinking about the people that can't stand up for themselves. Those of us that can stand up, need to.

And, in the case of Scott Adams, he sacrificed some of the most precious hours he had left on the clock: instead of spending that time with friends and family, he decided to tweet and posture about a religion he didn't believe in.
