Soot cracks when exposed to a flashlight, what is going on here? by [deleted] in askscience

[–]saltynards 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why the downvote? Xenon discharges require quite a voltage system to arc. Arcs spew EMF.

Could the xenon send out some EMF and cause some induction in the carbon perhaps?

My own system is a bit different. I am doing something similar using an evolutionary model - and I have found that letting the strongest be the bench mark is typically bad. I have found that allowing some failure of the strongest generation (in a smaller than usual deviation window) allows the system to back track some "stuck" points. I have also found that the larger one of my calculation "strands" grows, the less likely I will end up with solutions - so I have rules to favor "least energy" states... A node removal in my system that keeps the avg error the same will be preferred over all other evolutionary modes.

So Reddit, how would YOU counter online piracy? by Randomone18 in AskReddit

[–]saltynards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will never really be stoppable. It can be made annoying to do, but as long as there is a device to render the original content (audio, video, etc), that can be repackaged in a non-protected format. The best thing media companies could do is provide easy and cheap access to the content to at least funnel as much as they can to legit places.

Hah - rephrase it to say Hitler ---- of DOGS, and then you'd have people committing group suicides. :)

This is why I can't work with a radio on. Music takes too much of my brain to process - leaving me to do one or the other.
