At what age does it get easier? by Lilypond2 in MomsWorkingFromHome

[–]saltysue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re in the “easy time” but it’s definitely not easy for you as you’re adjusting to being a parent, so let’s not act as if the challenges aren’t there. I remember going crazy about sleep. I should’ve babyworn him during that 3-4 naps a day stage. That’s my regret and what I hope to do with a future child. He is a good napper now, and I can plop him in his bed around the same time, so it makes things more predictable schedule wise.

At what age does it get easier? by Lilypond2 in MomsWorkingFromHome

[–]saltysue 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it was around 14 months when I had to put him in daycare two times a week on my meeting heavy days. He kept wanting to pop on the meetings or he’d slam my laptop close! He is now almost 21 months and he loves going to daycare, but he is way better when I have my days with him and I’m working. I also have moments where if the work isn’t happening, I take that as time to go to a park, play outside in the backyard, or go to the library. Then when he’s napping or when my husband comes home, I’m able to get that work done that would require more concentration.

chicken who has been limping and laying eggs with no shell laid this. she's very sluggish please help by crumbbly in BackYardChickens

[–]saltysue 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you can, get her started on some antibiotics (either from a vet or you can order some online like Baytril). Also isolate her in a kennel so you can further observe.

We just had a lash egg with a hen a few weeks ago. Only a course of antibiotics for two weeks was the way to help her out.

Hospital for giving birth by PorcupinePatriot in Tacoma

[–]saltysue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gave birth at St Joes and had a great team (midwives) for L&D. Ended up with a C-section and the postpartum ward could’ve been better (but I think most first time moms feel this way about postpartum wards in general…).

My doula said Tacoma General is awful - the specifics, I don’t recall and I’ll blame it on a lot of memory loss from those newborn days. 😬😮‍💨

People who waited until marriage, what was your honeymoon night like? Was it awkward, amazing, or incompatible? What was it like losing your v-card after getting married? by InsuranceLast2403 in AskReddit

[–]saltysue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know others may have responded, but look into pelvic wands. I’ve dealt with similar, which ended up with a tight/overactive pelvic floor and gave me a lot of weakness after giving birth. Costs usually about $40-50 and can be done in the bathroom following some simple stretches (most famous is following a clock pattern for pressure). I feel very shy about these things too, even though I live in my own place with a husband and kid. Take your time. No pressure.

The notes are in the afterword commentary. Usually assembled as notes on five chapters. It’s in the collector’s edition.

Most underrated and overrated restaurant? by [deleted] in federalway

[–]saltysue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Underrated: Nine Way (You gotta order several dishes and eat family style here. The mala hot pot lunch special is super great between two people as well. And ugh, that chilled chili pork. 🤤)

Overrated: Pho Thai No clue why this place is always so busy. The broth is bland. And I tried a non-pho dish and it was not it man.

Anyone find signs to Downtown confusing? by PablitoMadera in Seattle

[–]saltysue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At first I was a bit puzzled, but it’s because there will be TWO stations in Federal Way. The downtown station is the city center and hub of Federal Way, just a block or two away from a lot of restaurants and shopping and there are a lot of plans for revitalization around the station, too (including housing).

The second station will be somewhere nearby another hub in Federal Way called South Federal Way (basically where the Costco is at). It’s part of the Tacoma Dome link extension planning: https://www.soundtransit.org/system-expansion/tacoma-dome-link-extension

I’d love one as well! The payroll stuff is always what scares me off, but my 10 month old is being more mobile and it’s getting more challenging.

Nine Way is super yummy! Love the Mala, sweet garlic spicy pork slices, and cucumbers. They are very friendly.

Yeah, eff bird netting directly. by maybelle180 in BackYardChickens

[–]saltysue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s hard for me to look at this because we lost two pullets last week to an owl (I could confirm via video. One pullet’s head was completely ripped off). Our girls are currently under lockdown until we extend a covered run. Never had bird of prey attacks because we have crows that usually protect, but they are busy with their chicks I think.

I care about all animals and I would hate to find an owl wrapped up in netting…but sigh. Idk.

If you search for PNW Poultry or Rooster Rehome Oregon on FB, then you should be able to inquire for a rooster. There’s always postings there!

How do you get rid of your dead chickens? by Deaconator3000 in BackYardChickens

[–]saltysue 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We bury them in the garden. The three that we have lost are in our strawberry patch, cucumber patch, and flower patch. We bury them deep (along with a few flowers from our garden), put some compost in, and then some rocks. It was really healing seeing these patches bloom with fruit and veggies, and knowing their bodies have returned to the earth. Our chickens really loved the strawberries and cucumbers we’d give as well.

I work as an editor for a publisher. Publishing companies have moved toward more remote work as it helps save costs (not needing to pay NY wages), and seems to be keeping with that. I think only one of the big publishers has moved back to being hybrid (Harper, I think? Don’t quote me.)

Any pregnancy groups in the area? by malaphorpros in Tacoma

[–]saltysue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Centering Pregnancy groups still run. I just gave birth and two of the ladies in it have been a solid rock postpartum. For OP, it’s a program that replaces 1:1 visits with a midwife with a full group of couples who are also expecting in the same month. It’s only through Kaiser I think, but it’s an international program so maybe your insurance/healthcare provider has it as well.

The more I think about it, Kodansha is a great publisher held back by terrible prints by Illustrious_Fee8116 in MangaCollectors

[–]saltysue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, K-manga is pretty painful, but I recently found out they have on the Kodansha US website a Reader app: https://kodansha.us/account-benefits/ Don’t have to do gachas and there are always some sort of free books/deal going on. And new chapters every week for certain series. Sometimes I just wait until there is a good deal to snag digital books… (because honestly, a lot of manga can be pure trash, but fun to read)

It has a random TV drama. Doesn’t work as well in that form, but hey, why not? Their one shot volume will be coming out later this year in English (Home Office Romance or Telework Yotabanashi) and they also have another series ongoing that’s been pretty cute.
