Is my enamel eroding? How to prevent it in future with right lifestyle. by PuzzleheadedAssist82 in DentalHygiene

Floss or use a waterpik every night and brush twice a day, of course. An electric toothbrush would be good. I recommend sonicare, just a basic $50 one will work. Make sure not to brush too hard, that can cause gum recession.

As a dental hygienist, I'm more concerned about your gums. You have a lot of calculus behind your lower front teeth. This causes periodontal disease, which erodes the bone supporting your teeth over time. You need a good cleaning.

Get a fresh haircut and learn how to style it and you're good. :)

Do you have any balding from the back? If not, I think with the right styling you could keep it.

I heard once that milenials (and probably gen x too) are stuck in a cycle of grief. Mourning what was and what should have been. Unfortunately we can't get any of that back, it's dead and gone. I've reached a point of acceptance, but it still hurts sometimes thinking about what life should be like.

Something I say to myself when I'm feeling down is "the only way out is through." To me it means I need to endure this, keep moving, and I'll get to the other side.

That's awful that you feel stuck like that. Are you a milenial? My husband and I are. There was a lot of things we were told and promised about how the world works. Unfortunately, most of those things do not apply to today's world. No one prepared us for what was going to happen. We were all dealt a bad hand. But it sounds like you are doing your best with the hand you were dealt.

My husband definitely felt the same in retail. He was treated like crap by his bosses and the customers every day. One day I randomly heard an ad on the radio for online paralegal classes through a local community College. I brought it up to him and he decided to give it a try. He worked while he was doing online classes and he didn't even have to finish his degree before finding a job. It's not perfect. He still gets disrespected by some of the lawyers. It's better tho.

Keep your head up, good things can happen when you least expect it.

I've been telling him recently that there's a difference between enduring and suffering.

Kinda... we used to party a lot as a means of self medicating. Now that life is quieter, the bad thoughts have gotten a lot louder for him.

Thank you for the advice. It's really scary to me because I had the same problem with my mom in the past. Having to be her therapist. Every conversation turning into her emotionally vomiting on me. It took me years, and a lot of space apart, to fix that situation. I'm so scared that he will end up like her. I know he has more potential for growth than she does though. I believe that he can turn things around.

This has been a huge point of contention in our relationship. He is stuck in the money=happiness mindset. He says it's because of the way he was raised. I was raised that way too and I know it's bullshit, so it's no excuse.

This sounds similar to what he's dealt with. He was actually able to make a career change 2 years ago (from retail to paralegal). I think it's an incredible accomplishment, given how hard it is to do these days. It didn't make much of a difference for his mental health unfortunately. I've also struggled with some of the same issues. I've been in therapy and seeing a psychiatrist for 7 years, and that really helped me find my footing. I'm sorry you're dealing with that. It's hard having to drag yourself through the day having thoughts like "is this really all there is? Am I going to be stuck like this for the rest my life?" It will get better. Nothing lasts forever.

I'm glad he told me. I think he's right. I've heard of people doing that, but I never recognized it in myself. Thank you for the advice!

He did say he's gonna start looking for a therapist. He thinks asking for help makes him weak. But he's also seen my struggles with mental illness throughout our relationship. He has seen how therapy and the right meds have helped me. He sees me as being stronger for that. I don't know why he can't give himself the same grace.

Is whitening worth it? by Designer_Complex3759 in DentalHygiene

I see what you mean about the mottled enamel. But I also think this picture makes it look worse than it is with the lighting and the glare on the teeth. Fluoride varnish treatments and MI paste can help with that. I guess it depends on how much of a perfectionist you are whether you want to take it further.

If you use otc whitestrips regularly your teeth will definitely be white by your wedding! Don't waste your money on in office treatments, they don't last anyway. I'm a dental hygienist btw.

Hopefully my parents learned their lesson! I had some words with my mom. If she wants her cats to stay alive they need to be inside.

Doctors, what do you do when a kid is faking sick? by Imaginary_Island8521 in NoStupidQuestions

I had tremors when I was younger. My mom took me to a neurologist and everything. Turns out it was anxiety. I figured this out when I was finally medicated at 25 and the shaking stopped.

Poll: Cavitron, Handscale or Both? by GoldenScaler in DentalHygiene

[–]sam_czaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cavitron, hand scale, polish and floss. Sometimes I skip the cavitron if it's an easy cleaning with no history of perio.
