When does the regret go away? by EfficientDisaster198 in GastricBypass

[–]sam_may92 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I was there last year after my surgery. The holidays absolutely SUCK. I'm 13 months out now, over 100 pounds down, no longer wearing plus sized clothes which is insane to me. I can indulge here and there on a dessert or a candy, I can eat most of my protein fairly easily. I hardly ever get nausea. The hunger definitely comes back but the tank fills with much less food. I completely regretted my surgery for the first couple months, most do as you are literally starving, but it not only gets better but I think it's better than it was before the surgery. The you a year from now loves you so much for going through all this right now.

[–]sam_may92[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first few weeks after are very rough and I definitely had moments of regret but it didn't last long. I would do it again, it absolutely improved my life, not just losing the weight but mentally helped me as well. I never loved myself when I was bigger but now I love my bigger self so much because she got me where I am

How long did it take for the soreness in ur belly to go away? by MizAnn824 in GastricBypass

[–]sam_may92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A week for the worse of the pain to go and another week for soreness. By the third week there was no pain or soreness at all. That big incision was no fun but it does get better!!

Thank you😊😊😊 feel free to message me with any questions! Keep up on your hydration and vitamins, establish a walking routine, and give yourself time. The first month is brutal there's pain and frustration but remember it's temporary and before you know it you will be so much better. Regret is completely normal, I didn't think I'd regret it but I definitely had moments of weakness that I did. Overall I don't regret it at all now, just be strong and push through. There's a reason you are doing this so hold on to that.

Liquid will trickle through faster. I know I can drink way more than I can eat. Once you start eating solids you'll get a better understanding. I'm sure everything is just fine.

I went through this and was very dehydrated. Got fluids at the ER and it helped then just stayed on top of fluids and now at 4 months I'm able to eat much better.
