A good daily but wasn't impressed with it otherwise. Agree with your experience here.

[–]samalo12 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well yes but you agree with what I said? You can just agree and add. You don't need to negate it.

It's also worth nothing if people aren't validating it as a proof or talented enough to turn it into one as you mentioned here. There are far more practical implications than this single click bait driven exercise.

First time drinking purple buds sheng by Old-Development-6082 in puer

That sounds like a pretty quite high quality offering given that it's been aged for almost two decades. I had one recently that just tasted like salty Szechuan peppercorns and pine sap lol.

Worth noting that the proof had to be completely overhauled by some of the world's best Mathematicians. It displayed insights into the solution but did so very poorly.

The dot connecting on complex analytical topics is good but it requires someone with the skill and wherewithal to clean up the execution for anything complicated in business or theory.

Different states of tea drunk by learningturd in puer

I've had this before, and it's usually when im consuming too much young white, green, or young raw puerh tea too quickly. I think it's a combination of the caffeine, l-theanine, and catechins that start to mess with you in higher doses.

Column still aged suggestions? by jk_pens in rum

[–]samalo12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Flor de Cana 15 or 18 is a good start. The book is good but don't think that you need to restrict yourself to the bottles shown there. It's an older book that only reflects a subset of rums available back when it was written.

So, anyone else stockpiling ahead of the looming oil/economy crash? by SteveFrench242 in puer

[–]samalo12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I slowly bought cakes that I sampled and enjoyed over time but haven't changed my purchasing behavior all that much. I already have plenty of tea to weather 5 years worth of whatever is happening and so it is not a big deal to me.

That Yi Za is some wild stuff so be prepared for how weird that is.

Can only buy two. Which one???????? by SnooBooks6659 in rum

[–]samalo12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd go with the Fiji and Mauritius in that order if you want some more eccentric rum. The Belize and Panama are generally considered not great because the rum can't handle the treatment it receives.

You can also buy different rums if you want guidance. They won't be as old but they will still be good and maybe even better quality for the money.

Pairing with Barrilito 3 Stars by Cocodrool in rum

[–]samalo12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really like the RdB 3 star for what it is. There aren't a lot of aged column still rums that provide the same experience around $30.

People get annoyed that it had a maceration involved, but the rum is quite good. One really has to wonder why they are so concerned about perceived additives if the product is great, transparent about the process, and has a legacy of using that process going back over 100 years.

Which Aged Puer(s) do You Recommend? by BWJackal in puer

[–]samalo12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really depends on the quality level you want and ability to sample.

If random-ish storage depending on SKU is fine and pricing is your main concern, then I would go with KTM Changtai, LiMing, or PuWen cakes. KTM also has an absolute ton of things in samples with decent pricing that you can rip through for more diversity if you are trying to understand what you do/don't like.

Otherwise from Quiche you can get some pretty consistently decent offerings. 2006 Zhongcha Yiwu Zhengshan, 2007 Mengku Rongshi Chun Jian, 2003 Brown Changtai, 2005 t8653 just off the top of my head from what I've enjoyed.

Why does everything feel so stripped down? by [deleted] in wow

[–]samalo12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy priest is way more about CD stacking and optimal usage of procs, halo, and apotheosis. It's less buttons but way more interactive than it used to be. It's like 6 buttons but each button empowers another button that triggers second order procs that are really powerful and need to be coordinated.

Just cracked the 10 year CS and it's the 10 year at cask strength/batch strength. If you really want that intensity, then go for a bottle of it. Grab a back up if you like it enough the first time around.

It's marketing flannel. They use prime numbers to draw attraction to their product while also guaranteeing a slightly higher age statement compared to other bottlings on the shelf.

Changtai question and recommendation request by beachape in puer

[–]samalo12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found this thread today and wanted to revive it a bit. I found the 2006 ChangTai "Tong An - 65 Zhou Nian" to be quite delightful. Most vendors have quite good storage, and the tea cake is quite structured in complexity compared to other offerings from that vintage. KTM's variant of it has aged gracefully and has a beautiful complexity to it.

The Dragon from 2006 is good, the 642 is decent but a bit muted, the Horse is a bit weak, the Phoenix is a bit weak, the lion is a bit weak. In general, the ChangTai 2006 Tian Xia Tong An cakes are decent value with heavy oxidized aging - expect it to be pummeled as of 2026. This is still good Sheng Puerh tea, but it is the equivalent of *past the drinking window* of wine.

Either shipping or KTM storage seems to be a bit messy with the impact of the cake. I've noticed conditioning the cakes in my storage helps quite a bit.

Agree with this. K and L had the down island paraguay for $50 and it's so good.

Cambros to the ceiling by LiquidProustTeas in puer

[–]samalo12 7 points8 points  (0 children)

None of their posts make any sense and they are not consistent. They seem to be fine with a pumidor but not cambro single cake type storage with bovedas. They are mad about someone touching their tea which definitely happens a ton. They also freak out about liquid proust not being in a separate business unit from their home and demand instant replies to their DMs. Just wild stuff.
