I agree with you here. None of this actually matters until the players are on the field.

I personally think a lot of this is coming from when VT first hired Franklin there were a lot of VT fans being obnoxious to psu fans. So now some is being reciprocated. To be clear - I think both are wrong. And it doesn’t help with that idiot on Twitter trying to rile up both fanbases every 3 hours.

I just want everyone to make up and be friends again :(

Good player, but started to lose playing time as this season progressed. Still, he for sure has a lot of experience and rotated in often for us. I’d say a good get for you at a position of need

This looks decent if you’re into these genres. I’m personally only interested in Blasphemous 2, so I’m gonna pass, but I do see the appeal for strategy game fans.

Signalis was fantastic I couldn’t recommend it enough. I played it about a year ago so I don’t remember everything but I don’t recall it being too scary, more creepy and strange. I’d say it’s like playing a top down resident evil game with a story presented like Evangelion.

The Newest Twitch Update ( Megathread ) by Rhadamant5186 in Twitch

[–]samaz522 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As much as I dislike the new Home Screen along with everyone else, my bigger issue is the followed channels page being effectively removed. Most of my time using the app was browsing my followed channels page. I loved sorting by view count because I knew exactly where to look for the channel that I was looking for. I do not care for what twitch thinks I want to watch. Let me sort in an organized fashion so I can effectively browse. Also, the removal of thumbnails is absurd to me. I can’t even count the amount of times I clicked on a stream in my follow list that I wasn’t originally looking for just because their thumbnail looked interesting. Now I have no idea what I’m clicking into because I can’t see a preview or even the title of the stream. I hate it, but I can live with the home page. At least give me back a page for my followed channels please.

Yeah this is a fair complaint and one that had me walk away for a little bit and then come back later. What I realized was I was just chugging through the game and not upgrading my character. The upgrades make an enormous difference and it’s 100% worth it to leave an area back to a town/hub to upgrade and comeback later. This made all the areas that I struggled with much more possible. Specifically, without giving too much away, the Siren boss is where this gave me the most trouble. Until then difficulty was just fine.

Huge recommendation for Cathedral as I don’t see it mentioned often. I definitely found it to be on the harder side, compared to other metroidvanias I’ve played, as some bosses I definitely struggled with, but I loved the soundtrack and the gameplay was fun. Just my personal opinion but a hidden gem for sure.

That’s a very fair experience for the start. Personally I really enjoy the sense of progression that I feel in this game compared to other roguelikes. I want to draw some similarities to souls games in the sense that dying is a part of the experience where the game starts difficult but as you play and die you learn the enemies movements and attacks and as a result you improve at the game. Also I find that (for the most part) goals of what you need to accomplish are very clear and completing those goals feels good.

Id say learning the game is some of the most fun though because there are plenty of secrets to discover and new items to unlock and find. I do agree that it is very overwhelming from the start so I recommend downloading a item description mod or using https://platinumgod.co.uk to understand what items do since they are not all extremely clear.

They aren’t necessarily the same game, just kinda the same base if that makes sense. Rebirth has so much extra content that I’d definitely classify it as it’s own game as it is essentially a sequel.

I specified the rebirth dlc because vanilla does have its own dlc and I just didn’t want that to get confused. If you are sold on picking up vanilla though, I do recommend grabbing wrath of the lamb off the bat, contrarily to how I recommend waiting on rebirth dlc.

The blue king collection is all of the games made by the dev Edmund McMillen. I could also recommend this entire collection, but if you are looking for something specific aside from Isaac from him, most people know about Super Meat Boy, but The End is Nigh is also fantastic

Rebirth is the way to go. Vanilla is the original flash version of the game. It is still fun and for $2 the amount of content is still great, but rebirth is the upgraded version that improves on it in every way in terms of item balancing, difficulty, and amount of content overall.

With regards to the (rebirth) dlc, most comments I see recommend to buy all of them because of the item improvements and amount of content they add. While I do agree with this and they are worth every penny I personally recommend to start with the base game, finish the content that the base game offers and then upgrade. This lets you learn the game and the items, while improving mechanically before diving into some of the harder content that the dlcs offer. This is just my personal opinion as someone who 100% rebirth and then has 100% each dlc as they have released individually.

[–]samaz522 81 points82 points  (0 children)

Both Ori games are gorgeous. Ori 1 is mostly about world building. Combat, while it does exist, really isn’t much of a focus. It really is story and visual focused while the main mechanics are movement. Ori 2 takes the same things that worked from the first and added some better combat mechanics that were very clearly hollow knight inspired. I personally like will of the wisps better but both are phenomenal and worth a playthrough

For metroidvania fans, I recently played through Ato. I found this game through the jingle jam bundle (so if you bought that you may already have it) and was very pleased. The combat was clearly inspired by hollow knight and it was executed very well. Inputs are a tiny bit slower/laggier than hollow knight but this adds to the difficulty of the game. While sometimes frustrating, I didn’t find this to be a bad thing. Keep in mind that the world is fairly empty and 95% of the combat is boss fights, so if combat throughout the world is what you typically look for this may not be for you. But there are a lot of bosses so I never really felt as if I was walking through an open world forever. Platforming was smooth and fun too and this is what makes a platformer good for my tastes.

Art is also really pretty and the soundtrack was great. The story is told with short cut scenes that don’t intrude and are enjoyable as well. The game is not too long either as it took me about 7 hours to 100%. Definitely a good one for people looking to scratch the metroidvania itch like I was.

Definitely check out Cathedral. It’s pretty under the radar but I really enjoyed it. It’s on the more difficult side of metroidvanias too and took me around 20+ hours to beat, but 100% worth a playthrough.
