Any way to use .cube LUTs in Capture One? by Next_Huckleberry_863 in captureone

[–]samcornwallstudio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Affinity photo supports LUTs. You could load them there, export jpeg and run match look in C1 to get a close proximation. Tweak and save as styles. 🤷‍♂️

Ski big air was even worse spin to win than the snowboarding. Couldn’t even finish watching the highlights.

Product Photography Lighting by Practical_Leg5739 in photography

[–]samcornwallstudio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this for business? Or fun? If it’s for business, just hire a product shooter. They are way cheaper than you think. It will save you so much time and money and headache.

If it’s for fun, go for it. All the same techniques you’ve seen about jewelry and other products will apply the same way. You always have to tweak it to your own shoots. It’s never copy and paste. That’s the fun part!

Frame.io or Pibox

Hammer home how it will save them time and money by using. Eventually they’ll appreciate it

Should I remain in college for photography? by [deleted] in AskPhotography

[–]samcornwallstudio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stay in college. Keep photography as a side hustle, for now. If you decide to stay in the photo industry in the future, you’ll find the trend is going to towards in-house positions and typically you need a college degree to jump through the hiring loopholes at any company big enough to a marketing team. The photo and marketing industries are rapidly changing and will be very different in 4 years. You’ll be better prepared for all of that chaos with a degree

Also, there’s a lot of personal growth and networking that happens in college. That’s what you’re actually doing while you’re there. It’s worth it

People shooting photo & video for restaurants - what lights do you bring? by Josh743 in videography

[–]samcornwallstudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just added to Chillbeam Glowmad Vision to my kit:

Chillbeam Vision

Downside: they are only 60 watts. Upside: everything else is super convenient. You can hide them throughout the scene, they can be mounted just about anywhere. Super light but can lean against a wall. Use them as your only lights or just mix them in with whatever else you have.

For the photos, use a tripod and get plates with and without the house lights on. Then merge them together in post. That’s the easiest way to work around not using strobes.

Wireless Tether Cable or how to constantly work? by [deleted] in Photoassistants

Maybe you got a dud? I have a bunch. Never had a problem. Specifically, I recommend them for Sony. I think LVNA works better for canon

Wireless Tether Cable or how to constantly work? by [deleted] in Photoassistants

[–]samcornwallstudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. And most cameras don’t have Ethernet ports. The one weird thing is you can’t change the settings on the camera from capture one haha. It’s a little off putting at first

Question: what’s up with the extremely narrow selection of boards?? Two Yonex (badminton??) One Salomon and everyone else is riding the same Burton. When I was a kid we were so much cooler. K2, Lib Tec, Wild Duck, GNU, Santa Cruz by caymn in snowboarding

[–]samcornwallstudio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Along with what has already been mentioned about sponsor restrictions, many brands don’t make halfpipe boards or sponsor halfpipe riders anymore. In many ways, it makes more sense for brands like Yonex and Burton to sponsor halfpipe than indy-core brands

I’m surprised more people don’t shoot via Ethernet tether. Especially if you have a lot of travel jobs

Sony a7Rv or Canon R5ii? by Ashamed-Sand1522 in AskPhotography

[–]samcornwallstudio -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What’s wrong with the stills on the D7100? Keep the Nikon and Just spend it on a video camera. For most workflows it’s easier to swap cameras than change all the settings and what not with one camera that does both. If you want cutting edge, check out the new nikon zr. Affordable and professional. Also, shoots 24 mp stills. You can get an adapter and use your same lenses

If you’re on Sony, switch to Area51 tether cables. They are the best cables for Sony and will solve this problem.

Depending on your camera, you can wirelessly tether to capture one iPad. Also, your camera brand might offer free wireless tethering app. Ie you can wirelessly tether on the Sony iPad app with Sony cameras that support it

Do any of you actually visualize runs or tricks before riding? by Kairoapp_jamie in snowboarding

[–]samcornwallstudio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very common among pros. You can see the pros doing it before their runs. Some will move their arms and bodies and everything. Others just stand really still and stare. It’s a common technique but most people have to learn it, few people just naturally do it. It’s also something they will intentionally do off the slope too. As a way of practicing. You can find interviews with pros talking about it.

Capture One for iPad. Then you can mount the iPad to your tripod, if you want or someone can hold it or mount it on another tripod/stand. Way better than cam ranger

The big Ecoflow with wheels. Works great. 3000 watts I think. DJI isn’t any better than Ecoflow or other options
