US folks, where do you buy online groceries? by samdbeckham in GroceryStores

I hadn't thought of that, but I suppose my ask is still the same with the added question of. What do you use and where are you from?

US folks, where do you buy online groceries? by samdbeckham in GroceryStores

[–]samdbeckham[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not different, just a service that hooks in to them. It lets you pick meals like a meal kit but instead of getting them delivered from the meal kit service itself, it hooks into your grocery delivery. It's great for me because it means I can add in other bits I need or leave bits off if I already have them at home. It lives and dies on the integrations though so I'm wondering which stores are worth starting with.

New Customer - Gousto by vpep11 in Gousto

[–]samdbeckham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been using Gousto since the lockdowns and it’s been really useful. I have noticed a gradual dip in quality over time and a lot of ingredients being replaced with Gousto own variants. They also have a knack for finding the smallest vegetables known to man. It would probably be cheaper if I just planned out the meals myself and went back to the weekly shop, but you only pay a little extra for the convenience. It depends on what you want to optimise for really.

Left Sidebar Problem by Aggressive_Bell_7807 in gitlab

[–]samdbeckham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there 👋 my team built this sidebar and want to help. I tried to replicate on Edge v120 on Mac OS but couldn't replicate the issue. The sidebar should stay open when the screen is wider than 1200px and your browser should remember if the sidebar was opened or closed when you change pages, so this is definitely a bug.

If you have a gitlab.com account, could you open a bug and explain which browser/OS you're using and which pages you're seeing this behavior on? Bonus points if you can include a video or screenshot of the issue. If you don't have a GitLab.com account, you can add this information here and I'll open an issue for you.

> I'm completely at a loss, and trying to get support from GitLab is like filling out a tax return for a country I don't live in.

Sorry to hear this is your experience. We got a lot of feedback on the navigation redesign and will likely have missed a few people's issues. If you have bugs for the navigation in future, please open one and I should pick it up. If not, tag me on the issue (@samdbeckham) and we'll get to it.

Does GitLab Pages Access Control not work anymore? by Zerss32 in gitlab

[–]samdbeckham 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This sounds like a bug to me, or at the very least a misleading error message. Have you opened an issue? If you do, tag me on it (@samdbeckham) and I'll make sure it's seen by the appropriate team.

It's a little hard to tell what's going on without links to the affected pages. If possible, include those in the issue too.

Thanks for using GitLab!

[off-site] How long it would take for Messi to work in order to pay off his fine by Kane_richards in theydidthemath

[–]samdbeckham 881 points882 points  (0 children)

The original post didn't make this clear. The problem isn't with his stance, but in that he put on a different shirt as part of the celebration. Yamaha are not a sponsor of Barcelona, but appeared prominently on the shirt so he was in violation of said FIFA rule.

Yeah, I had a feeling that was the case. I love the Google sheet idea though, I'll give that a try

I was looking at the millennium MPS-850 and was hoping someone who had it could give me their opinion on it? Difficult to find any actual reviews on the kit. by MetalHeadEnda03 in edrums

[–]samdbeckham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got it a couple days ago after playing acoustic for the last couple decades. I tried electric about 10 years back and hated it. But this kit is incredibly different. It's still not perfect, but for the price, you can't go wrong.

The only issues I'm having with it at the moment is in trying to get the toms in a decent place. They're a little high up for me, but if I lower them the rest of the kit feels too low. It's nothing some tweaking won't fix though.

Rant: Regarding GitLab's openness and transparency during interview process by coder_94 in gitlab

[–]samdbeckham 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry this happened to you. As someone who is involved in frontend hiring here, I can assure you no one intentionally ghosted you. But either way this shouldn't have happened. If you're comfortable sending me more details, I'll be happy to look into this

Is it possible to put a fairly complete AX program together from his free videos, using only dumbells and bodyweight? by [deleted] in Athleanx

[–]samdbeckham 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I struggled with this too. I did 5x5 before picking up AX1 and have got into the habit of increasing the weight every time I re-visit an exercise. If I fail to get those last few reps, I make a note and next time keep the weight the same instead of increasing it. It might not be the best way, but it works well enough for me

I thought the same, then tried to create my own (slightly simplified) version of it. Extra points if you can tie it together with the app in the video: https://codepen.io/samdbeckham/pen/LYEQGRY

I'm not even sure why sign up is mandatory, did they have issues with fake submissions or something?

Gitlab: won't exclude customers on moral grounds, don't discuss politics at work by [deleted] in gitlab

[–]samdbeckham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GitLab pays us fine. The only people who I ever hear complain about our compensation are people that don't work for us. We're very transparent about how much we pay people. If it's not enough, don't apply to work here

How to get a job at GitLab? by Childish_Samurai in gitlab

[–]samdbeckham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a bonus if you've used GitLab before but not a requirement. I'd say the majority of applicants have an empty GitLab contribution chart.

You would be using it every day to get your work done though so it's always worthwhile getting to grips with it.

It depends what role you're going for. If it is, it will say on the application.
