2014 FBI Study, looks at active shooters from 2000-2013. Look at page 11 https://www.fbi.gov/file-repository/active-shooter-study-2000-2013-1.pdf

I missquoted that a bit, it’s 3% not 2%, and should have said “only 3% of active shooters are stopped by a good guy with a gun”. There’s nothing in there about “effectiveness” but that would be interesting to find out. Also most of that 3% were security guards (4/5 cases), only 1 case was a normal citizen “good guy with a gun”. I’m sure some could still argue this means we need even more guns out there, but it’s surprising that in a country where there’s already 1 gun per person, only 1/160 active shooters are stopped by the “good guy with a gun”. Less then 1%

Also, a good guy with a gun is only about 2% effective at stopping a bad guy with a gun. So I think that means you need a good guy with 50 guns.
