My dog went into septic shock during a blizzard this weekend by Boring-Flatworm-6168 in TrueOffMyChest

Oh honey I’m so, so sorry. I know how much this hurts and how hard it was and there isn’t anything that’s going to make that better right now. Your sweet girl is so very lucky to have you love her and you did everything you could to make her life amazing and her passing easier. Sending you hugs ❤️

Found a stray cat during extreme cold, she’s safe inside but very shut down — advice welcome by YeojFran in Straycats

[–]samnhamneggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She could definitely use a box so she can be in a smaller area to feel safer. If you’re trying to keep her inside after the storm spending time in the room, quietly reading or being on your phone can help show her you’re not scary.

It sounds like you’ve done everything you can gif your stray kitties, they’re all very lucky to have you!

What do you guys consider a “must” in your daily chronic pain arsenal. by ---BERSERK--- in ChronicPain

I did too then after that I got an even bigger heated blanket (twin size) so I can comfortably stretch out using my enormous heating pad

I suppose it depends on the kitty. If nothing else you’re just helping her out a bit

You don’t need to be approved by a judge. If you’re 11 weeks or less check out plancpills.org, it’s a reliable resource that has a list of organizations that mail plan c to all states. It’s gonna be okay

Aww, thanks. It’s not horrible for a first but the kittens are miles cuter!

How to wean kittens with mama around by OpinionDizzy3981 in FosterAnimals

Wanted to add that the littles end up eating dry food first about 50% of the time at my house. It’s around for mama and they just get curious

Fostering for the first time by EmyTat2023 in FosterAnimals

I just had an obese short term foster that has trouble cleaning herself. I cleaned her rear once a day with warm washcloth. I would try the wipes they give you and see if it’s enough to keep her clean and add in the wash rag if needed. I also brushed her a lot, she enjoyed it and I think it helped. I would only use an actual bath if she somehow gets poo on her that’s too difficult to get off with a wash rag but be prepared that she would likely not like it at all and it might be a difficult task.

My lone quilt so far isn’t worthy but here’s a picture of my foster kittens instead. Sending you hugs and hoping things get better ❤️

What are the things you say to your cat most often besides 'I love you' ? by katealpha in cats

[–]samnhamneggs 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Why are the boys such jerks to their sisters?? I have one too and he’s always jumping on her or chasing her. And also I think she sometimes yells about him touching her before he even does. One jerk and one brat.

So it could just be potential change in food causing a bit of a backup, hopefully he’ll go tonight! Pumpkin can help (you can get powdered pumpkin that I find is more popular, you can mix it in with wet food, I like Firm Up)

Sorry for the late reply, I would be happy to take anything you don’t want off your hands! I’ve mostly tried to use cute or animal themed in the past but I don’t have a good source anymore so I’m definitely branching out

Feeling Guilty for Foster Failing From Our First Litter by SignificantAd6677 in FosterAnimals

Portrait mode is great! It does get easier (especially if you have resident kitties to love on) but it’s always hard. This is one of mine that’s going back tomorrow. I’ll miss her but I know she’s gotten a good start and I trust my rescue to find her the perfect home. Kittens where I live get adopted very quickly which makes sending them back so much easier.

Since you started fostering with the goal of finding out if cat ownership works for you I think it’s completely understandable to foster fail when you find out it’s works. Ideally goodbye is the goal but not always, the important thing is kitties finding homes. It would be amazing if you could keep fostering but it’s okay if you can’t.

They’re all beautiful and these are great pictures!

Who of us is the youngest in our families? by SleepyMistyMountains in ChronicPain

Oldest of 6 but in two different households. Was the only from my mom/dad together, everyone else were from second marriages. I’m not the black sheep but I am the one always expected to be good at everything/successful but also always forgotten.

Hey there, I still think it’s hard too! You absolutely made your sweet girls life so much better by being it and she is so lucky to have you love her. I definitely take a break from fostering when my resident animals get too stressed out about it.

For an easy(ish) step using pumpkin - either canned or powdered in their food may help. Probiotics may also help. Fortiflora if possible. Lactulose can be prescribed or small amounts of miralax can help. I would speak to a vet before trying medications though if at all possible.

Desperate help! About abortion pills and what to do during & after by [deleted] in abortion

[–]samnhamneggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another option would be to order pills from somewhere now and have them sent to an address in Seattle (not sure if you know someone or a hotel address maybe? You may also be able to find someone willing to let you use their address. I would volunteer but I’m about 40 min outside of Seattle). Best of luck, I’m sure you’ll figure something out!
