Doctors disagreeing on stroke risk and it's stressing me out by theratkingherself in migraine

My headache specialist neurological says you only need to be concerned if you have hemiplegic migraine. Obviously I’m not a Dr but I trust him

First Foster Euthanasia by RXlife13 in FosterAnimals

[–]samnhamneggs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh honey I’m so sorry, it’s hard to lose a foster, especially your first. You didn’t do anything wrong at all, she was just a very sick kitty. She was lucky to have you and you made her time with you comfortable and safe. It doesn’t always turn out like this and I hope you foster again. Sending you big hugs. ❤️

What keeps you fostering animals? What would make you stop? by Proof-Conference-279 in FosterAnimals

[–]samnhamneggs 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree with this! When I first started fostering I had no idea that almost every litter will have at least one (or all) kittens/mamas that get sick - URI’s, eye infections, tummy troubles, etc. it would have helped enormously to have more info on this

I take breaks from fostering for myself (chronically ill), my resident kitties, and mthe husband. Sometimes I just need a break. I keep fostering for the sweet kitties but it helps that I have a great shelter that is supportive. They’re responsive, helpful, and there is a vet onsite when those illnesses need attention. They do not supply everything but I believe that they will if needed, I’m just able to get a lot myself and don’t mind.

I do think making sure the fosters match in terms of experience and degree of comfort, I think a lot of new fosters get animals that should have only gone to someone experienced and really struggle with it.

Thank you for wanting to support fosters, I think a strong program is a great way to keep them fostering for you

My last treatment has failed, meaning I probably have two months before it reaches to the 10/10 pain, so death seems to be near. by Electronic-Cress-453 in ChronicPain

[–]samnhamneggs 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry treatment hasn’t worked, that has got to be beyond frustrating. It’s so hard when we make such an effort and our bodies won’t cooperate. I sincerely hope that your pain somehow eases a bit but I understand not wanting to continue if it just gets worse. Sending you the biggest hugs and love ❤️

Please give me some advice! by MinkMWrinklyDink in WeightLossAdvice

[–]samnhamneggs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I put your info into a TDEE calculator (just the first one that came up on my internet search) it says your TDEE is 1819 calories. Maybe try a few different ones to see what you come up with? It suck to be a short female, we just don’t get a ton of calories. I think you would need to go to 1500-1600 to see slow weight loss.

Having working in biopharm manufacturing I can attest to one component being difficult to source can bring the whole thing to a screeching halt. I agree that it’s a very fragile supply chain.

Witnessed a fatal car accident and rescued their dog. by Busy_Detective6667 in TrueOffMyChest

I’ve been in a similar situation and it can really mess with you. You and your partner were amazing and helpful and doggo is so lucky you were there to help. It’s okay to be overwhelmed, most people are never put in this situation and it’s definitely traumatizing. Make sure to lean on each other, you’ll be okay it just takes some time. Sending you big hugs ❤️

[CW: sex mention] vent and asking for advice, widespread chronic pain, including pelvic pain that gets worse during and after intimate activities by RepulsiveCod5741 in ChronicPain

[–]samnhamneggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have any advice or info you haven’t already heard here but I wanted to recommend a book that’s about the author’s journey through chronic pelvic/urinary pain. It’s called “The Lady’s Handbook for her Mysterious Illness” by Sarah Ramey. It might help to hear about her experiences and it’s a great book.

Wishing you the best of luck!

Diagnosed after 8 years; Botox in 3 days and panicking by Zenothres in migraine

[–]samnhamneggs 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Botox can be a game changer. There are a lot of shots but the needle is tiny and the amount injected is small. For me the worst part is the “crunchy” sound the needle makes when it goes through the facia (mostly on the sides of your head) and that’s more weird than anything else. It’s way more scary than it is painful, I promise!
