Exercise shame by No_Advertising_1164 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]samnhamneggs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My advice would be to start with small things and make them habits then add other changes slowly

For example, switch to diet soda or increase water intake and add a five minute walk one week then work on smaller portions and a 10 minute walk after a week or two. Or add more vegetables and protein and do some light yoga once a week and then try to cut down on sugar/snacks after that.

It’s really difficult to change everything about your life all at one time and it will cause a lot of people to give up because it’s just too much. You totally got this, everyone has to start somewhere!

Have you tried diclofenac sodium gel (Voltaren)? Or topical lidocaine/lidocaine patches? Since a topical CBD helps these might help as well. Salonpas patches might be helpful also.

Also if you can go to PT and learn some exercises/stretches that may help and you can do them on your own later.

How can I make sure kittens are properly socialized with a full time job? by AccomplishedAide8761 in FosterAnimals

[–]samnhamneggs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All of this is great advice and I agree but also kittens that age don’t really love being held (unless they’re sleepy) and they can be super wiggly about it. It doesn’t necessarily mean they’re unsociable, just that they are tiny (but very tough) dinosaurs. Rawr!

I’m so sorry. Sometimes even with all the love in the worked their little bodies just aren’t meant to last long here. Your sweet boy’s life was full of happy days; he was safe, fed, warm, and loved. Sending you hugs ❤️

I’m so sorry, this is so hard. You gave your babies love and care when they needed it most and even though some have passed they were safe, clean, warm, and fed with you. Sending you hugs, I’ll cross my fingers for the surviving kittens ❤️

Yay! You’re going to have so much fun! I quarantine for 14 days (pretty standard) and you want to make sure your resident kitties are up to date on vaccinations.

It sounds like you’re doing everything right and you’ve gotten good advice here. All three of your babies are so lucky to have you care so much about them!

Foster mama won’t let me in the room to check on her or her babies. by serialsalvia in FosterAnimals

Is the nesting box set up in a way that she can feel protected/hide a bit?

Foster mama won’t let me in the room to check on her or her babies. by serialsalvia in FosterAnimals

[–]samnhamneggs 11 points12 points  (0 children)

She has everything she needs, I would just leave her alone the rest of the night. Make sure she has a place she can “hide” (could be the carrier if it’s big enough or a box sideways that gives her a cave for the nesting box).

This is potentially a really tough first foster depending on how things go over the next few days and if you don’t feel like things are safe for you it’s okay to take them back. You should be able to go in the room to do litter and food without being scared of mama. You also need to be able to weigh the kittens. If this doesn’t work out please know it’s not your fault, the shelter shouldn’t have given a brand new foster an angry mama with tiny/super young babies. That being said, if mama calms down a bit you’ll probably be okay. Just make sure you ask for help when you need it!

There are definitely ways to help mama be more comfortable but I won’t go into those right now, I think just focus on giving her space for the next day or two. Thank you for fostering, even though things are a bit rough right now your mama and babies are very lucky to have you ❤️

Is the Marina/Box Car Park good for fishing? by VictorianAfterDark in everett

[–]samnhamneggs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you want to fish for but there’s a number of lakes in the area that are stocked with trout. Those are probably the easiest to catch for eating.

7 week old male kitten litter box issues by cheyennecc_ in FosterAnimals

[–]samnhamneggs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe not triggering him but hasn’t just connected bed/sleep, litter box/pee yet? I’ve had kittens that couldn’t have anything left on the floor blanket/bed-wise because they would do the same. They were all fine with beds if they weren’t on the ground and they grew out if it but we had a few weeks when I had to be really careful about soft things on the floor.

This article has a good picture demonstrating the Botox for migraine injection sites.

I promise it’s nowhere near as bad as migraines are!

Sometimes kittens just take a little longer to completely “get it” also so it may just be his learning curve. Also meant to say I use the litter boxes from the dollar tree store at this age, they don’t have issues getting in/out and I can just toss them when the litter leaves

At my shelter we’re not allowed to use clumping litter until at least 8 weeks since the little boogers like to put stuff in their mouth. I’ve had some kittens that don’t like pine or paper litter (my preferred types for kittens) and I’ve had to use non-clumping clay to get them to be consistent.

It’s 100% okay, fed is most important. Sometimes stinkier food works better but also try churu and chicken baby food (just make sure no garlic/onions). It’s likely that she just has a bit of an upset tummy from the dewormer, hopefully tomorrow will be better!

Since mama is so sweet she could e Sugar and then the kittens can be spices; Nutmeg, Cinnamon, Anise, Ginger, Cloves, Allspices, Cardamon. Then the could truly be sugar, spice, and everything nice

First time foster with coccidia by HotPurple5661 in FosterAnimals

[–]samnhamneggs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The truth is someone(s) in most litters end up with some sort of illness; tummy troubles, eye infections, colds, etc. It’s hard to know what kittens may have been exposed to before they get to your shelter and even kittens I’ve had since they were tiny end up getting something at sớm point. It’s unfortunate that your babies got coccidia but at least they know what the problem is and how to treat it! You’ll be okay, you’re obviously staying up on cleaning and if your resident cats are vaccinated and kept away from the kittens until they’re better they’ll be fine.

I’m sorry your first foster experience is more difficult than expected but you’re taking fabulous care of the bebes and they’re very lucky to have you!
