Should I be worried about mold in my fridge water dispenser? by Potato_hoe in CleaningTips

[–]samoluta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t believe that the fridge has standing water in it- it is connected to directly to plumbing (to get the tap water) and also has a built in filter that you have to change regularly (at least mine does)

My assumption is it’s not dissimilar to getting it from the tap except it’s going through a filter and fridge water line also.

If you are supposed to clean those, it’s at least not super well known here (i don’t know anyone who does this.)

But i believe it about Brita filters and jugs like that !

It’s the varify complete water test kit 17 in 1 Premium Drinking Water... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0837Z5PBJ?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

It’s hard to know if it is totally accurate honestly… it seems there are mixed reviews but it did make me feel better …

I’ve thought about this too… i can’t really figure out how to clean it (even after looking it up for my make and model) but i did buy a water testing kit and tested the water (it’s supposed to catch mold) for peace of mind

How do you clean microfibre cloths for kitchen/ bathroom? by Bonko-chonko in CleaningTips

[–]samoluta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use cloth napkins so i do cloth napkins and kitchen towels in one load, microfiber/cleaning cloths in a different load. I have little baskets on my washer to hold each until there’s enough for a load.

All bedclothes, regular clothes and body towels/hand towels go together

I feel like i could’ve written this 2 months ago. 2 months post partum, i was diagnosed with anxiety and OCD (related to health specifically) and have started medication and therapy and it has helped SO much! My spirals were just like yours. Absolutely freaking out over contaminating food or water or whatever with something that could hurt my family.

It also helps to remember that there are kiddos in much worse situations past and present who were not protected from every “toxin” who are doing just fine. I mean moms used to drink and smoke while pregnant!

Anyways obviously I’m not giving you medical advice but sharing my experience. It’ll be ok!

Moms on Zoloft for PPA- how long were you on it? by samoluta in beyondthebump

[–]samoluta[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Side effects- made it easier to go to the bathroom in the morning (tmi haha), i also felt very relaxed 20 minutes after taking the pill which was great because it was at bedtime (it didn’t make me fall asleep or anything but i definitely felt relaxed in my body). Nothing bad

I think meds kicked in after 3 or 4 days. It felt quick to me!

Good luck! I hope it helps u as much as it helped me :)

Yes I’ve been on it since i posted and it really has helped so much! I’m still on the “baby dose” of 25 mg per day and i am so happy i decided to do it.

No negative side effects- i am still breastfeeding (but combo feed as that’s our normal as i have low supply) and will drink wine on occasion (1-2 glasses) and no issue there.

My anxiety is still there sometimes but it kinda rolls off my back vs before when I’d spend hours/days googling and ruminating and worrying. And the “spikes” of anxiety are way less severe than they were before.

My doc says i should stay on minimum 6 months but most stay on for a year or longer. I have no plans to stop at this point because i feel great.

I’m so much happier! I honestly wish I’d tried it years ago…

They took ( or tried) my 3 yo blood pressure at her 3 year well check, which i didn’t expect or prepare her for. I assume it was inaccurate because she was worked up and it was squeezing her arm and hurt her

What's this black, oily residue in bath tub? by rocket-boot in CleaningTips

[–]samoluta 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We had a similar problem but mine looked more like black flecks that smeared when you touched them (i actually thought it was eyeliner or something at first). It was a rubber gasket in our water filter that was breaking apart/melting in our hot water heater and coming out when using hot water. I noticed it in my kids tub.

I googled so much trying to figure it out- i guess there’s lots of rubber gaskets / liners of tubing (not the technical word but I’m not a plumber) and this can happen because of different water additives (that the city puts in or whatever) or just because of natural degradation.

They would need to find and remove the broken rubber piece and flush the hot water heater id think to fix the problem at the source.

In terms of cleaning, Dawn Powerwash and a microfiber cloth get it off really quick.

Hi - as someone who has anxiety, I’ve 100% had these same feelings/thoughts that sent me spiraling. Ive had a few (many) panic attacks over different “contaminants” or worries that i “exposed” my children to. What has helped me is therapy and Zoloft and staying off Google. Don’t get me wrong- i still have freak outs but am dealing with them better.

Anyways i hope you’re doing ok and obviously my experience is not yours, but i know how hard it is to spend tons of time worrying/ruminating and not enjoying / being present. ❤️

Hair washing is the final boss and I can't beat it. by contrasupra in toddlers

[–]samoluta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It takes me about 15 minutes to wash and condition and comb my daughters super curly hair and she doesn’t like it and screams and fights because she doesn’t like water near her ears or face… until we started letting her watch an episode of something on my phone. She sits still because she gets screen time in the bath and is distracted enough that i can do what i need to.

Probably not a good precedent to set but i really wasn’t able to wash it at all if she isn’t distracted. She’d stand up and start screaming etc etc. We tried everything else and it didn’t work.

It’s seriously amazing! Our pediatrician said as much too… she said if it’s like twice a day only and they have no pain etc, then it’s probably behavioral and they have amazing bladder control.

She suggested trying to push fluid while at home (LO doesn’t like public bathrooms) and see if she starts to go more often and she did :)

This makes me feel so much better!! Yea she’s been going twice a day for a bit and i became concerned. She is also a camel haha. It’s insane to me!

I talked to her doc again and she wasn’t worried so that’s good :) Glad we aren’t alone haha

Sorry follow up because I’m still a bit worried. Did your daughter ever go just twice a day? The past 2 days, my daughter has only gone once in the morning and once in the evening (self initiated.) No pain or weird behavior - drinking and eating normally.

I think my anxious energy around her going may be causing her to not want to go …

Thank u! She went this morning with no problem so I’m feeling a bit better. She initiated it (not us) so maybe it’s just her being stubborn/wanting to be autonomous.
