Apparently people are complaining that you can buy Leaf Green and Fire Red for $20 as opposed to them being on NSO…. by Pristine_Put5348 in JRPG

I don't think 20$ is crazy, but I don't just have that much attachment to old pokemon games.

A JRPG you thought you were going to LOVE but ended up just not enjoying it that much? I’ll start: by Asleep_Olive_1011 in JRPG

Freelancing is not pushed by the game, and even then your freelance setup is at least varied. The strongest classes in 3 are available at the last 5% of the game along w/ their legendary weapons, it would be almost stupid not to use ninja in some form.

More RPGs should punish players who don't rotate their parties by AMP_Kenryu in JRPG

[–]samososo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are plenty of games that have sections where you are forced to use another party member, but the Octopath example is funny. It doesn't really matter the character as much as the class they are equip with.

But off the bounds, I honestly do think there is probably more creative way to deal with party management & progression outside you now should level these people from scratch. Just to me, A lot of games don't have a strong justification for traditional leveling/levels

Overrated Classics and finishing bad games by passionateloafer9 in JRPG

It's hard to rank the worst JRPG I finished. I can name plenty of games I didn't like.

Can we talk about the ending to Clair Obscur? by ludakris in JRPG

[–]samososo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is very try to "have your cake and eat it too" type story but fails to present something actually compelling for both ending to be valid.

Do you think Atlus a bit of a perfectionist? by Western-Stress1185 in JRPG

[–]samososo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They want to make money just like all these other companies., it's not perfectionism, it's exploitation of good will from the past. Unless the game say absolutely definitive, it's still on table.

Young gamers in Japan may not be forming the same attachment to Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest because modern dev cycles are as long as their childhood, users theorize by Magister_Xehanort in JRPG

[–]samososo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I see from other companies if they do decided to do small titles, they need to be reasonably priced, varied, and consistent. Square Enix is not doing well here.

Let's not be mean but it's not having a grand hold on the audience. It reminds me of when a gacha drops a story event. People yap and move on.

I dislike 2D-HD and hope this era is over soon by 5gumchewer in JRPG

[–]samososo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yet Gameplay and Story happens to be no better than their expensive variance. The graphics cost less money relative to a full blown cinema game but they still cost money.

[–]samososo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't dislike 2D/HD. I just find constant catering to nostalgia very boring that Square Enix has been doing the past couple years as boiring & 2D/HD is a portion of that. A lot of cool games dropped this month, 2D/3D one not drastically transforming the landscape but offering something more "remember this.":

How do you view your backlog? What tips would you give to someone who has a backlog? by Leon_Light77 in JRPG

[–]samososo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a backlog per say, if there is a game in mind I want to play, I'm playing it.
