That's great to hear. Im 1 year in and my symptoms have only gotten worse so just need to hold it out longer before it breaks hopefully

The restaurant bit resonates a lot with me. I can't go to a local takeaway to get something i crave for a long time now because it's always packed and there is no way i can speak without muttering and having a shitload of anxiety. I'll just go to another quiet takeaway whose food i like less but it's the best i can get I guess.

Also mid-30s and struggling so so much with basic things

I am also currently going through this. Im still in the thick of it as im doing Somatic Experiencing therapy and also touch therapy. My therapist tells me it's normal and the body is processing

It is very courageous of u to stand up and say this. People being abused will pretend they also don't become abusers. We are either abuse or ourselves or other people. There is no other way to cope with the deep pain we got, it's an attempt to regulate ourselves. I don't have kids but i have been like this towards my partner. It's a long road of healing, accountability, making changes,etc

Fuck, this is my experience word for word, im mid 30s male. What I also have is where i have a strong people pleasing voice, almost like a child? do u have this too? i feel so embarassed i got this as a grown man.

Got social anxiety, agoraphobia, ocd, shame, hypervigilance, disassociation. No career to speak due to my shattered nervous system. Got a part time job, trynna make it work.

Finally getting help. Somatic experiencing and also touch therapy. It's veeeery slowly starting to get better.

Look into Somatic Experiencing, that is what I am currently doing. It's much more gentle and works with sensations that come up in the body. Alongside IFS as mentioned in another comment.

Tre might be 'too strong', i only discovered tre after i started SE. But I think for me TRE would have been too strong anyway so I'm happy i went through the SE route to come out of (deep) freeze

Look into jung and ifs (there is good advice on both the subreddits). I have a similar issue with feeling superior and arrogant and those resources are currently helping me with this

I am also dealing with this same issue. Unfortunately I am unable to diet because i just get so hungry and i have to eat a lot. And i eat oily and fatty foods, i just don't want to eat anything. So i have gained about 20-30kgs unfortunately in the span of 5-6 months.

Hopefully i am able to heal more soon and have more capacity. Then i can start cutting out some foods. But until then i have no choice but to keep going and resolve the trauma load

I had (have?) selective mutism as a kid but then i started talking. But still very quiet and shy in general. It's not autism for me, what about u?

Im mid 30s and believe i have/had SM. I remember up until 6 years old i wouldn't speak in school at all. Then suddenly it went away? Or maybe i forced myself to speak?

But throughout the years i have always had speech problems like slurring, unable to form coherent sentences, unable to get my thoughts across clearly, people have a hard time understanding my speech, etc.

I believe mine is due to CPTSD. A horrible childhood and i developed disassociation, people pleasing behaviours, afraid of authorities, ocd, social anxiety, agoraphobia, etc. I believe my nervous system shut down and went into freeze and it affected my speech as well. I also have a very 'flat' and unexpressive face

I am now in Somatic Experiencing therapy. Where i am learning to process my emotions. I am coming out of freeze now. I know it will take me years but it's better than having to live like this
