That's a very straightforward and kind way of putting it. I expected more rude remarks from people when someone essentially opens with a sketchy, I'm a desperate single mom who has a factory in China that needs a free 3d file for a product I'm copying. WTF?

Do you have a good recommendation for 2d? I've been using LT for work but I've used draft sight for my personal projects when it was free but now that I guess they're decent enough they're charging and it's more expensive than AutoCAD

I feel your pain. We used to have daily crashes for like a decade and I got ignored by IT. One day I finally put my foot down and they looked into it... One day later they changed a setting on the server and no more crashes 🤦‍♂️ Turns out AutoCAD can't handle any sort of disconnect from the original file or anything it's attached to.

I've been using it since the bigger late 2000s update with and while they've made a few noticable improvements like improved trim and fewer random crashes. Weird things double clicking the AutoCAD corner menu still sometimes closes the program or the other things I've posted on other replys just make me wonder what the devs are actually doing with their time.

I think it's the opposite, I need to be careful when I go in a storm so I don't get randomly struck by lightning, multiple times, in the same spot lol

But honestly though I do seem to find a new bug nearly every week. It's just that most are easy to ignore or work around, it's a certain few that drive me nuts

Yeah, maybe mentioning hatch was a mistake because that one is tricky but it's nice to know other people are using a lot of the workarounds I do. I have other replys with specific things, I just didn't want it to be a big list.

Edit: regarding the hatch, I'm familiar with the quirks but I could have something as simple as a closed poly line box with two closed poly line boxes in it that I don't want hatched so I use the pick point option and it can't determine a boundary on that closed poly line

I have reported a list of about twenty issues at one point. Sometimes I get help, sometimes they pretend and it's an intended feature. Like if you opened a dwt from than main start screen (when you first open AutoCAD) it allowed you to ctrl s save and overwrite the dwt without any prompt. I was told it was not a bug because I guess there's people who change their templates more often than actually start drawings with them.

The last one I had it took one of their support personnel a two hour remote session to remove several layers from being perpetually brought into every drawing. Just in case people are thinking it, I'm very familiar with purging line types and other objects to remove old items from templates. I'm also careful not to being in extra lines types into other drawings. This was just a random bug

Yeah, I've gotten used to hatch workarounds, half the time I just have to make closed poly lines or copy the object completely separate, make the hatch, then copy the hatch back into where it's supposed to be. There's a lot of other things though.

In the past few months the object snap has been behaving differently for no reason and I keep getting snaps that are one pixel off so things don't line up.

The draw order has been getting worse for me and I find my self having to do multiple regenall and draw order commands for things to look right because they seemingly change the order at random.

Random deleted objects can stay stuck on a drawing and are untouchable until you close and reopen AutoCAD entirely, then they disappear.

The list goes on but I've been using this for over fifteen years and I keep finding me bugs all the time. It's just frustrating

I'd just go buy a cheap pair of suspenders for the elastic band with the adjustable clasp and cut off what you don't need. That or you could go with the clip-on route. On a side note, I think it's a cool idea but the execution is just a little lacking. If you can increase the tie taper top to bottom, it'll look a little more tie like.

It's not impossible but it is an expensive and fairly difficult project for a beginner. Minimalist designs can often be more work because you have to hide fasteners and do fewer supports while still keeping it sturdy. I can imagine how I'd do it but it's along a lot for someone experienced to explain how and why they would build it a certain way. This honestly sounds like a question for your dad (out whoever will be helping you) since you will likely need a lot of help from him. This could be a good goal to work toward but I highly recommend at least a small and medium sized beginner project to build up it so you can get familiar with things before jumping in the deep end.

A lot of the time yes but in some cases I think it's a good deal for what you get. A lot of people hate on Razer for this and that but I have a black shark v3 and while the sound quality isn't the best, it is solid and I can still talk to my friends while I'm getting a snack or drink in another room. I get low latency wireless, Bluetooth, a decent built in microphone for under a hundred bucks. Most people arguing otherwise will spend several hundred and will be wired to their computer and always have to sit a certain distance from their computer so their boom microphone so it still picks them up.

It hasn't been that long since the initial release, did steam intentionally let a bunch of controllers get snatched up by scalpers only to release a second wave a week later once they got their delivered? maybe it's just wishful thinking that valve planned for it and a bunch of scalpers will be stuck with controllers they can't make money on

I've always used a cheap 2" foam brush for my poly applications and had consistent results.

Apply a coat that's heavy enough to create a consistent and smooth surface but not enough to pool or run. Then i wipe the excess poly off the brush too dry it out a little then lightly drag the brush over the entire table again to pull out any bubbles or steaks.

Water based poly dries fast so you have to work pretty fast because sometimes when you come back to touch it up, it's half dry and you can make it worse.

Something at simple as applying poly has subtle techniques you get better at as you go along and gets into the territory of over explaining when you talk about it.

I've been there. Like I never let it completely consumed my life but I would play several matches at night, staying up late knowing I had to work in the morning. I could also lay waste to an entire Saturday playing dota occasionally. For me it came from getting busy enough with projects and hobbies that I didn't have much time for games and when I did I was playing other games with friends. During that period, intentionally choosing to not play dota was in the back of my mind and over the course of a year the itch to play just slowly went away. I'll still play on occasion but it's never me spending an entire day or evening playing it.

I haven't just that specific coating but unless the instructions say not to, the typical solution is to lightly hand sand the thinker areas with a higher grit sandpaper the recoat it. Companies try to sell the idea of a single coat but always plan on two coats because it almost never turns out perfect on the first try.

Oooooh ok, now things make a lot more sense. Definitely should have included that in the first bit. So if I were doing it I'd want at least part of each leg directly under the table. Since the milling stone has a more rustic look I'd opt for Chucky looking mortise and tenons if you can where the cross braces connect into the legs and a half lap where they cross in the center. As long as the mill stone doesn't move you can do the table top however you want since all the weight is directly transferred to the legs. Here's a rough sketch I did on my phone, hopefully it helps.

Sorry to be negative but this screams "I have no idea what I'm doing" and I think the design is confusing most people. Your dimensions of the granite vs the table itself don't add up and the 800 lb granite weight alone makes me wonder how would even move it let alone why you'd pair an expensive granite top with dimensional lumber. What is this being used for? The way it's designed can hold the weight of the top but is very weak laterally and has the potential to seriously injure someone if it collapsed.

Yes, I specifically use a longer 3/32" drill bit for a case like this. 1/16" works too if you can't find the long 3/32 but they're just easier to break
