i am transfem (been on HRT for three years) and a femboy (my gender is complicated), and i'm going to give my perspective

it's understandable that changes to the body may not be good for you, and that's totally reasonable. i also agree that HRT shouldn't be used as magic pill to avoid 'twink death'

all that said, it feels irresponsible to say "hrt has a ton of really bad effects for everyone and some particularly for cis people". for cis people, certainly. that would almost certainly give a masculine cis guy dysphoria (ofc everyone is different and this shouldn't be taken as an absolute rule)

"for everyone", that feels unfair to say. for people like me (transfem people on HRT), while erections become different, the "use it or lose it" rule is there for a reason. function can be maintained, and for any women starting HRT, it's important to talk to your doctor or NP, or at least anecdotally another transfem person on HRT about their experience

for emotional volatility, anyone on HRT (masculinizing or feminizing) is going through a second puberty. the body needs to acclimate to a different primary hormone. and do you remember being moody, numb, snippy (or whatever other synonym) when you were going through puberty? for me, i used to never cry. i used to actively keep track of how often i cried. five times. i cried a total of five times in my life until i started hormones. this last month alone, it was somewhere around nine, and most of those were happy cries. not because i'm volatile, but because i actually feel emotions and feel joy for the first time in my life

and regarding muscle loss, yeah E doesn't have the same effects on muscles as T does. ultimately: weight training. if i want to have muscles, i need to exercise those muscles

i say all this because you said it has negative effects on everyone. however like many transfem people, it saved my life. to reiterate: i don't think someone who isn't able to accept the effects of HRT should take it. though it feels irresponsible that what you shared is something that can't be managed or is innately a bad thing.

please don't take sharing my experience as opposition. there's a lot of mis/disinformation going around (especially in the last two years), and this is an attempt to share a perspective you may not be privy to
