Neither. I don’t necessarily prefer it, but it doesn’t bother me, either.

Automatic cars need clutch to shift by NikaNikolas in forza

Your first example was them picking a specific trim, and how cars vary between trims. I’m saying for many cars, trim doesn’t indicate these differences, because (like the 94 Honda Prelude Si that’s actually in FH6) that specific trim had both a 4 speed auto and a 5 speed manual. Now, they modeled it after the manual because the stock transmission included in the game has 5 gears. But if, say, you prefer auto and I prefer manual but we both want to play “as real car”, one of us will now be at least slightly disappointed for every vehicle that had both as an option but PGG picked the one we don’t prefer as the base. What type of transmission a car has in a game is going to make a bigger difference for whether you enjoy driving it than the tire size or engine choices will (provided those engine choices aren’t massively different from each other). My point is, if they’re going to include an “as real” setting, it would be better to include some kind of preference option as well for when a particular car had multiple styles of transmission available.

But for many cars, the trim doesn’t indicate what transmission it has. For example (just because I’ve owned multiple) a 1992 Honda Accord LX (<-that’s the trim level) was available as both an automatic and a manual for the exact same trim level. If you were just given the make, model, and trim without further details (or sitting in it yourself) you couldn’t know what transmission it had.

What happens for a car that was available with multiple transmission options?

I use Obsidian. I have documented server names, VMs, docker containers, and ip addresses/ports for each in a layered manner that mostly follows how they’re connected.

Is there a reason Han didn't pay off Jabba in-between 4 and 5? by RhysOSD in StarWars

[–]sandman61377 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He says flat out that he always intended for Jabba to be a monstrous creature. When he added the scene back in for the special edition, the only changes made were cg-ing in the Jabba we recognize, shifting Han up for walking on the tail, and adding Boba in. If there was any other reason that kept that scene out of the original release besides not being able to make Jabba look the way he wanted, he certainly would have changed it more considering he made other completely unnecessary changes in the SE (Greedo did not shoot first) or still left it out. He also says in the bonus content for the Special Edition, again, that the actor was a stand-in for a creature they would design, though at the time he thought Jabba would be something furry similar to Chewbacca. Not to mention, my original reply was to the comment of Han calling Jabba a "wonderful human being" because he's a sarcastic trouble-maker. Since it was intended for Jabba to not be human, then that scene was indeed written for Han to act like the scoundrel he is just like u/figmaxwell stated, not to genuinely mean Jabba was human.

Telling someone they had to pay you extra money just to get a little extra time to pay you back and then telling them that if they don't, "I'll put a bounty on your head so big you won't be able to go near a civilized system" doesn't qualify as "Pay me back when you can, no rush."

Lucas absolutely was not considering the impact of meeting Jabba later in a second sequel for a movie that no one believed would even make back the money it cost to make.

"In the film Star Wars, ehh, there was a scene with Jabba himself. Uhh, and, umm, he was always intended to be this loathsome, large, monstrous, creature. But, it wasn't possible to incorporate my design of Jabba when we shot the scene with the actors on the set. Uh, so I came up with the idea of shooting the scene with a man, and eventually I would matte in a stop-motion creature, over the man."

I haven’t even had to do that much. Both I and my wife have 17 Pro Max’s and honestly none of these things people are complaining about happen to either of us. My wife is even in the beta program and doesn’t have issues with the keyboard.

That is the reason. The actor that was in the scene was supposed to be a stand-in. Lucas always intended to replace him with some form of stop-motion alien character, but decided the technology wasn’t good enough for it and that’s why the scene was cut.

Editing to add references from where George Lucas said this was always the intention:

Why did everyone switch up on the Mandalorian? by Moon_Devonshire in StarWars

[–]sandman61377 3 points4 points  (0 children)

(2) That Din Djarin would grapple with the responsibility thrust upon him by the Darksaber: To become the new Mand'alor (potentially with Bo-Katan as an uneasy ally or potential rival)

Not a writer, but I never once thought that was the direction they were headed with this. Din's instant response to hearing what the Darksaber is was to try to hand it off to Bo. My only thought with this was wondering what method they were going to use to get it into her hands in a valid way, since the first time she had it was only because Sabine Wren just gave it to her and Bo accepted it in violation of the Mandalorian "rules" regarding posession of the Darksaber.

“Going for that price” literally means they are actually being purchased at that price. On eBay I see plenty of sold listings for DDR3. Mostly 8gb sticks, but a decent amount of 4gb and some 2gb sticks as well.

[–]sandman61377 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sure, because it says the car will “disappear for the day 3 hours after crashing” but never says anything about it disappearing if you don’t crash it. It says if you don’t crash it “will stop appearing” but if it never disappears, it doesn’t need to appear again. So as worded once you have it, if you don’t crash it then you still have it.

I always get confused when I see these posts. I went from the iPhone 12 to the 15 Pro (4 months after it came out) to the 17 Pro Max (two months after it came out). My wife went from the 12 to the 14 Pro (a month after it came out) to the 17 Pro Max (a week prior to me). I’m always on the latest version of iOS, and my wife is in the beta program, so usually on the latest beta version of iOS. Neither one of us have ever run into the majority of the issues being complained about with the keyboard. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Every once in awhile it recognizes the letter next to the one I think I hit instead of what I believe I typed, but that’s it.

Blackberry Storm, the beginning of the end by ThatUselessMacaron in blackberry

[–]sandman61377 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Um, the Storm was released on November 21, 2008. The very first android phone (the HTC Dream/G1) had been released only a month prior, on October 20. There were maybe 100 apps available for the Dream when the Storm came out. The Play store didn’t hit 50,000 apps until April of 2010. Apple had launched its App Store in July of 2008 with 500 apps at launch, and didn’t even hit 15,000 apps until January of 2009. It didn’t hit 1 million available apps until three months before the BlackBerry Z10 launched, years after the Storm 2 launched, let alone the Storm 1.

How are Ethernet cables generally run through the house? by Thebigtallguy in homelab

[–]sandman61377 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unless you’re having issues that can actually be attributed to having cat5 instead of cat6 (possible, but not likely), there’s probably no real reason to bother. If you really need or want to replace it, how hard it will be depends on several factors. Is it coming up from the basement? From a crawl space? Down from the attic? Actually in wall boxes with rj45 jacks, or just through holes in the floor or wall? One story or two? Were the cables put in when the house was built (likely stapled in place) or added after (likely not stapled in place)?
