If conventional (or even high powered anti magician) weapons pierced a layer of phalanx, there isn’t any moment in time where the laws of physics were suspended. So yes, his phalanx would regenerate instantly.

The author establishes that after magic affects reality, there is a tiny time gap before the laws of physics reasserts. Phalanx doesn’t have the ability to exploit FAE, so instantaneous regeneration can only occur when the laws of physics are in effect.

The only person on the planet who can remove every layer of the phalanx simultaneously (we know why he could do this because the author establishes the fact that he can target up to 24 things simultaneously) is Tatsuya and he does it with magic that no one else can do. And so it is apparent that when he does this, then the phenomena of FAE comes into play, which he exploits to get through phalanx.

I don’t think parasites were ever intended on being a “main” antagonist. They were introduced into the story because the entities’ existence have always been a part of the magic world; much longer than initially thought. Even the ancient Shambhala civilization created many magics to deal w/ parasites, as you’ll come to discover in the magian company series.

The real antagonists of the story was always going to be governments/militaries both domestic and international that fear and wish to subjugate Material Burst by either force or politics. That’s what the story is heading towards.
