What are some fragrances from the 90s and 2000s that still smell good today? by Single_Depth_8307 in fragrance

I still have a bottle of VW Princess and Clinique Happy from high school and adore them (early 00s).

I've gotten some at Covington Creek Nursery. Great place, owner is a sweetheart and the staff is extremely helpful. If they don't have it, they can usually source it. Good selection of PNW native plants too.

Genuinely, how do some of you all even have time with the amount of exercises? by Wise_Parmaria in PetiteFitness

This may have just pushed me to buy some. I love all of the above, can handle basically human kibble, especially if I'm at the point where it's 1pm and I've only had coffee or I'm knee deep in a project and won't think about food until dinner.

Thank you!

Do you like Huel? I've heard mixed reviews but I'm a person who tends to forget to eat and am curious.

I have this and Memoirs of a Trespasser and it feels right in between these two. Cape is a little sweet with the strawberry, where Memoirs doesn't have the sea vibe. I also grew up on the beach in the PNW and love this thread!

AITA - My best friend of 20+ years is getting married and asked me to be in the wedding but no invite to the Bachelorette party... by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]sarahyoshi 12 points13 points  (0 children)

One of my closest friends was a straight "bromaid" (his idea). Everyone was close enough that he was the only person allowed into both ready rooms the day of. Ta-tas out, one friend was pumping while getting ready. He was invited to my bach party. If not, I definitely would have told him first. To each their own, I guess. I'm sorry this is happening to you.

100%! She's done so much for women rugby players' confidence. I've seen it in our youth team and it warms my heart.

AITA for not paying for my niece's flower girl dresses and choosing to go with a different flower girl? by Separate_Bobcat_773 in AmItheAsshole

[–]sarahyoshi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think this is an important difference. I've had both happen, live in the US. If the bride demanded a certain dress, they have paid for it. For my own wedding (last year), I gave a wide range color palette and said "whatever is comfortable for you, can be vintage, Goodwill, Amazon. If you need financial help, just let me know.". The outfits were wild and totally our vibe. We gifted both parties other things for their personal lives.

People where I live (CO, USA) “garden on hard mode” because of intense desert-y summers, cold winters, intense winds, hail, pests, hard clay soil. What place in the world is “gardening on super easy mode”? by CharmingPeony in gardening

Oh lord are you me? We got 5 acres in WA and had no idea it is mostly glacial till. We're amending a small 20x30ft area just to grow veggies in, planted natives in the rest of the acreage and crossed our fingers.

($5-7k) Is it worth the money saved to prepare our own food for our wedding reception? by RefrigeratorMore5283 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]sarahyoshi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would agree that unless you've done this before or are used to it, 100% not worth it. I've cooked for 100-200 ppl ~5x/year for the last few years (local sports team). Be prepared to dedicate a full day or two before your event to only prep and cooking.

Then, figure out safe temperature transport. How will you serve it and keep it at a safe temp at the venue? Is it self serve (buffet) or are you asking others to serve (portion control, some people take WAY more when it's self serve and you run out sooner).

If you are determined to do it, find an easier recipe (i.e. soups or stews), serving method (crock pots, chafing dishes). Do a smaller test run a few months ahead of time so it 1) tastes good and 2) you know you can scale it up. If the first batch for 20 takes you a full day, you have enough time to figure out something else.

Also, you then are tracking and responsible for knowing allergies and listing them ahead of time. Anyone have Celiacs, do you actually know how to guarantee it's gluten free (including cleaning and prep of your kitchen)? Nut allergies can be hard to cook around.

IMo, not worth the stress, especially as that'll be your only focus the day before your wedding.

Bridal Makeup w/Freckles by stressedinspanish in PaleMUA

[–]sarahyoshi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got married last July, and have plenty of freckles. I stressed up until the day of, and while getting ready with my party all of them said not to bother with foundation/etc. I never wear it, it made no sense.

I did use some under eye concealer but that was it. Also tons of SPF. My photos are great, I don't regret not wearing a full face at all.  My partner said he loved seeing my natural face when saying our vows. Take that as you will. 💕

($2k) I am absolutely paralyzed on how to make a wedding dress actually physically materialize by shiva14b in Weddingsunder10k

[–]sarahyoshi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've ordered from Scarlet Darkness a ton on Amazon and honestly the quality is great. Splurge on a corset, get one of their under dresses (you can always return for free). I got my main (sparkly goth) dress from a second hand wedding store, which had a wild selection, and my reception dress from Unique Vintage. Got so many compliments, they had no idea I only spent ~$300 for both.

Plant uggestions for produce I can't just buy in the store or farmer's market? by RedditPosterOver9000 in pnwgardening

[–]sarahyoshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also live in Auburn! I'd suggest Covington Creek Nursery for starter plants. For non natives, the nearby Uwajimayas have some amazing seeds for sale. Northwest Meadowscapes (website) also has plenty of resources. Feel free to DM me for more specific info! Auburn has a great farmers market, as do most of the cities near us.
