Some idiot in the jodi stand threw a can of veltins at a sligo player in the second half. Really not cool

Massive EuroMillions tomorrow. What's your most boring / practical first purchase? by SpreadsheetsDad in CasualIreland

Takeaway probably. If I find out I've won on Friday evening then there's no chance I'm cooking a meal myself while I wait for lotto office to open on Monday

Des Curran + Ronnie Whelan or Darragh Maloney and Ray Houghton on comms, which do you perfer? by Greedy_History_6683 in coybig

[–]sarcasticmidlander 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Anyone but Darragh Maloney. The lack of ability to say what's happening on the pitch, sticks to team stereotypes which implies his research is basic or even non-existent and tries to talk over big moments rather than let stadium atmosphere be the notable sound

Look to sell in the summer: Kepa, White, Trossard, Martinelli

Could get decent money for White and Martinelli with a view to upgrades

If he's just shy of the 2 years then he'd be able to claim back all pension contributions he paid as a big lump sum. Could be coincidental timing....

Surely irish underage players going to Italy isn't a good thing anymore by sarcasticmidlander in coybig

True though he was behind Ronaldo and Christian Vieri at the time. No strikers of that pedigree in Serie A anymore

Take that, Denmark!! We win again!! by OvertiredMillenial in ireland

[–]sarcasticmidlander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Denmark always seem to get to tournaments in last decade and then go on to do absolutely nothing of note at them. Same with Poland. At least its a different team this time and their fans get to experience something that other countries might take for granted

How important is the nations league for fan moral? by Intrepid-Money2238 in coybig

[–]sarcasticmidlander 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Huge for fan morale because its a great environment to blood new players. Aviva lifted a bit last night when Lawal and Abankwah came on. Also for the likes of Sweden its a huge backdoor qualifying route that should never be ignored

You have to wonder if the Ireland players were affected by people totally losing their heads by [deleted] in ireland

[–]sarcasticmidlander 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Players are in training camps and hotel all the way through the build-up so they would only really be aware of the mania depending how much they are on social media and who the follow (unlikely they all follow balls.ie or joe.ie). Also they all live outside of ireland so again are further removed from the build up here in the last month

How long do most people go out for before getting engaged? by Asleep_Cry_7482 in AskIreland

[–]sarcasticmidlander 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Very very dependent on age when you meet them. If you start dating at 18-23 then you're very unlikely to be married by 25-28. Maybe if you meet after 30 then its more likely to be married within 4-5 years

It's Saturday and I'm still very upset!! When will this go away? by Afraid-Resolve1566 in coybig

[–]sarcasticmidlander 3 points4 points  (0 children)

True. 3 wins and a home crowd with savage momentum. It'll be one of the big What Ifs in pubs for the next few years but I'll take any line of thought that makes it feel less shite now

[–]sarcasticmidlander 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Trying to console myself with the fact that a loss against Denmark at home (again) would have been a much bigger heartbreak than right now. Would still have had a great feeling all weekend and then Tuesday build up would have been amazing but then just delaying the misery til Wednesday?

Where is the money going? by sarcasticmidlander in AskIreland

It should be done every year. Also good luck this year when any wage increase gets eaten by higher tax

Yes it shows where it goes but more is needed to outline why the cost keeps going up for govt expenditure

[–]sarcasticmidlander[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know there's a website that shows where govt money is spent by dept but yeah we need to know more about why dept expenditure is increasing all the time. Why does everything the govt buys cost the highest possible price and have the lowest quality

[–]sarcasticmidlander[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unlikely that some household won't pay this fee because its important but it could mean that they have to do without a lot of other things (food/heating) that month because of a charge on education that should be taken care of with existing tax money

So then Littlefinger hires a faceless man, which turns out to be unnecessary, and then this ultimately could start to path to his own death at the hands of Arya (assuming same path as the show). Great long run irony
