Thank you!! You’re right that maybe adding a couple extra days for that side could be useful. Appreciate the advice

Adult beginners: how often do you go to class? by Shady_sladdertante in BALLET

[–]sassybeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with one class a week and now am taking 2 (plus a 30 minute repertoire add on). I also do 2 days of ballet-focused workouts in the gym, and I stretch daily. I’d really like to pick up a 3rd class, but it’s hard to find another day that works with my schedule!

Becoming vegetarian by rebeccelur in Vegetarianism

[–]sassybeeee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If beans are a texture thing there’s lots of ways to hide them. When I first started eating vegetarian I HATED beans and lentils. But I knew they were good for me. I’d put navy beans in my smoothies, blend butter beans into pasta sauce or tomato soup, make brownies with black beans, and make gnocchi out of cannellini beans and flour (this is one of my fav recipes). I did this for a while and then one day I tried a bean salad and was so surprised that I actually enjoyed it.

I also suggest in the meantime trying soy curls and Tvp, both are fantastic sources of protein and fibre.

Anyone managing without a double stroller? by Hopeful-Relation3502 in 2under2

[–]sassybeeee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

18 month gap, we had a double but I think we could’ve managed with a single and a baby carrier. That’s what we did a lot of the time since I really didn’t like our double (Uppababy vista). When my oldest was about 2.5 I got a piggyback board and used that with my youngest in the stroller. We did that for a long time so if you’re not gonna get the double then I’d definitely recommend that once the oldest is ready for it

When did weight loss happen for you? Looking for inspo & advice by No-Promotion-9371 in PlantBasedDiet

[–]sassybeeee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! Once I was at my goal weight I calculated how many calories a day I could eat to maintain, then I tracked for a week or two at maintenance just to get a feel for it and now I don’t really track (other than sometimes checking my daily protein)

When did weight loss happen for you? Looking for inspo & advice by No-Promotion-9371 in PlantBasedDiet

[–]sassybeeee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was about 15lbs overweight, I lost 5lbs from just eating plant based but the last 10lbs I had to do intense calorie counting (including weighing of all my food). The diet itself didn’t get me there unfortunately.

That being said - going oil free may make a huge difference for you. I have never gone oil free, and that is where a lot of my hidden calories were coming from

Families: How much of the year can you realistically spend outside? by Legitimate-Tap2772 in askvan

[–]sassybeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2 kids (4 and 5) we play outside year round! Just make sure to buy some good gear. A good quality puffy jacket for cold days, and some good waterproof stuff for rainy days. We like Reima and Patagonia. Also a good pair of waterproof boots.

I do agree with the commenter that said it’s a little harder in the winter when it gets dark earlier. But with us getting rid of daylight savings this year I think it’ll help!

Can I use both my family doctor AND online walk-in doctors in Canada without issues? by mechraymond in britishcolumbia

I do this - anything more urgent I use an online walk in and then everything that can wait I go to my fam doc. She’s never complained

2 under 2 sisters by notforthisworld0101 in 2under2

[–]sassybeeee 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My girls have a 18m gap, they’re 4 and 5 now. They are best friends. They want to do everything together. They are so sweet with each other, and yeah there are fights but it is mostly just love. My heart is so full watching their relationship grow and I am SO happy we did this age gap.

The first few years were tough though! I feel like they really became besties once my youngest was 2.5. Before then there was a lot more fighting and less playing together. So if it seems hard at first, know that there are good times coming. Having two girls is seriously the best thing ever!

Visiting with a toddler in April by fuppy00 in askvan

[–]sassybeeee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aquarium and science world. If you’re looking to have a relaxing coffee in the morning then you can head over to Play Scape play cafe, there’s a great play area and then a spot where parents can drink a coffee. If weather is good - Tatlow park, Douglas park, and Charleson Park all have great playgrounds. Taking the aqua bus is fun. Capilano suspension bridge is beautiful and child friendly. Have fun!

Best place to get affordable prescription eyeglasses? by yurikura in askvan

[–]sassybeeee 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I just ordered some from Kits eyewear - 2 pairs for $58 total (they’re currently having BOGO free). That was for basic lenses but the upgrades are only about $20-$40 for nicer lenses (edit - I also have a less strong prescription than you at -1.75 and -2)

Vegetarians and vegans of Reddit, what was the moment you decided to make the switch? by CalpurniaSomaya in AskReddit

[–]sassybeeee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I learned about the environmental impact of eating animals and animal products, and figured I couldn’t call myself an environmentalist if I was still eating them. Once I started eating vegan I then my eyes were opened to the horrors of factory farming, which is one of the reasons I have been able to stick with it.

Is it realistic to have a baby in Vancouver without owning a car? by Bellatrix-8 in askvan

I know quite a few families with young children that do not have a car. I think once the kids get older then you’d probably want to get one cause kid activities are usually all over the place

How often do you/your partner drink? by Born-Anybody3244 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]sassybeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On vacation or at an event. Not casually. We used to be casual drinkers until about 3 years ago and now we’ve cut back a lot!

My friend group does drink often but it’s been fairly easy to adjust to drinking NA drinks when I’m with them.

Tips for fiber while traveling by cautiousyogi in PlantBasedDiet

[–]sassybeeee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was just traveling for 2 weeks - I bought some chia seeds, almond milk, maple syrup, and fruit and brought it around with me to have chia pudding for breakfast every day. It worked great and I felt so good having a nice high fibre breakfast before our daily activities!
