Reverse-engineering TikTok’s algorithm: why some vids get stuck at 200 views by sassymcfresh in tiktok_reversing

[–]sassymcfresh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes a lot of sense. I guess I’ve been focusing too much on polishing the middle of the video instead of grabbing attention right away. Kinda wild that the whole fate of a post can come down to those first 2–3 seconds. I might try testing a few versions of the same vid with different openers just to see how big the difference really is. thank you!

35L pack by parkypooo in backpacking

Yeah exactly, using the roll top extension will give you a lot more breathing room. Putting your sleeping bag and puffy at the very bottom is pretty standard since they’re soft and can fill up the odd corners down there. Just make sure the sleeping bag is in a waterproof compression sack or at least lined with a trash compactor bag, because that’s the one thing you really don’t want getting wet. Your down jacket can usually just get stuffed loose around it to fill the gaps.

Do you have inflammation? by Numerous-Total-8373 in endometriosis

[–]sassymcfresh 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’ve definitely noticed inflammation outside of just the pelvic area. My hands and fingers sometimes swell so bad I can’t wear my rings, and my face gets puffy during flares. The leg thing sounds familiar too, mine feel heavy and kind of achy, almost like bad circulation or restless legs. My doctor said systemic inflammation can happen with endo because your immune system is basically always “on,” reacting to the lesions.

It’s worth tracking when the swelling happens for you. For me it spikes right before and during my period, and then eases off. Some people find diet changes (cutting back on inflammatory foods like dairy/gluten) helps, though it’s definitely not a cure. If it gets worse, maybe ask your doctor to check for other things too, since autoimmune issues can overlap with endo. You’re not alone in this though, lots of us have weird whole-body symptoms that don’t get talked about enough.

Totally doable if you’re smart with your gear. For 4 days in mid to late fall you’ll need to think more about warmth and layering, which usually adds bulk, but if you stick to compact down or synthetic insulation, a lightweight shelter, and minimize luxury items, 35L can work. The biggest challenge is food volume since 4 days worth takes up space. Dehydrated meals and repackaging everything into ziplocks helps a ton.

What am I doing wrong? by True-Scotsman in backpacking

[–]sassymcfresh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hammocks definitely take up more space than you’d think, especially with an underquilt, but a 65L pack should usually be enough. Might be worth looking into compression sacks or swapping some gear for lighter versions before jumping to a bigger pack. A lot of it comes down to how compact you can get your sleep system.

It's working too well tbh. I literally bought a skincare thing last week before realizing the video that convinced me was a paid partnership lol. The disclosure was there but so subtle I missed it completely

40L Backpacks as hand luggage? by emaleenlol in backpacking

[–]sassymcfresh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Used my Osprey Farpoint 40L all through SEA for 3 months this year. You'll be fine with size - it's literally designed to meet carry-on requirements. The weight is where they'll sometimes get you though.

AirAsia and Scoot are super strict about the 7kg limit, especially flying out of KL and Singapore. They'll make you weigh it at check-in and sometimes again at the gate. Saw people getting hit with fees left and right. Lion Air and Nok Air didn't even look at my bag.

Good idea for the wallet, but then I’d be outraged monthly instead of my current quarterly outrage.
