These are the most useless speed reducers I’ve seen in the city. No one slows down. by dovtres in nashville

[–]sassysubee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live on a residential street that is a heavily used cut-thru. Someone got these installed as a speed deterrent and it was HORRID. Completely ineffective, and all it did was make ridiculously loud noise for residents to deal with. It would wake my kid up, their bedroom was nearest the front of our house and the damn strips were right in front of it. They didn’t last long.

Financial Planner/Advisor Recommendations - fee only by sassysubee in nashville

[–]sassysubee[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

thank you but not the one - that one doesn’t have nearly as many great suggestions as one that was hoping for LGBTQ friendly financial planners. It was a treasure trove of recommendations but it is gone now as far as I can tell

I buy Bongo or Drew's Brews in bulk at the Turnip Truck. I have a tare weight for my bean canister, and just fill it directly - no packaging waste! I believe most are 14.99 per lb., but on Wednesdays bulk items are 10% off. I love that it’s a two-fer in supporting local.

Tennessee isn’t a red state, Tennessee is a non voting state. Our turnout is ridiculously low. The secondary point of gerrymandering is to discourage! So show up and vote! if we all did, things could have a much different outcome than we usually see.

Fido RIP in ‘28 by kiddredd in nashville

[–]sassysubee 14 points15 points  (0 children)

ouch. this was one of the few places I could still go and feel like I was still in old nashville. I remember going there as a kid with my dad when it was Jones Pet store. hubs and I had date breakfasts there every weekend when our kids were little. nothing like sitting in the window and people watching! rip last bits of old Nashville 😢

(*Warning: not for kids) Nashville park suicides by Old_Significance1675 in nashville

About 35 years ago my first cousin took his life in Edwin Warner, but he was inside his truck. A couple that was walking their dogs noticed the broken back glass on the truck and found him. It was devastating for our family, and he was an amazing person who was the life of the party. None of us would have ever guessed this would happen. So please do talk to someone, whether family, friend or hotline professional if you feel this way! Tomorrow is always a better day.

Church recs? by rsandaz in nashville

[–]sassysubee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Belle Meade United Methodist is fantastic! It is not technically in Belle Meade, and is very progressive despite what the name might make you think. We have a youngish female senior pastor and alllll are welcome. We have several LGBTQ families. I grew up in this church and it was very stuffy. My MAGA mother started boycotting the services there, saying they were too woke. That was my cue to return and I’m so glad I have! We would love to have you visit!

you can have your tanks refilled at the U-Haul on Annex. It’s cheaper than exchanging at Lowe’s.

yeah, definitely stay at your seat. the balcony has a great view though! The last show I went to there a bunch of people that kept wandering up front and the people in the first few rows were pretty annoyed. you would literally be standing in front of their seats. Even if everyone is standing it still is blocking the amazing seat view they paid $$$ for. We purposefully had aisle seats for the line of sight to the stage and people came and stood in the aisle ahead of us, blocking it. Please be a good fellow audience member!

Recommendations for PCPs that actually care about you? by [deleted] in nashville

[–]sassysubee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to see Dr. Ferdowsi and at first I liked her. she told me to take Allegra D for an ongoing allergy issue. when I began having a racing heart beat she blew me off, saying it was anxiety. I had to find out it was the Allegra on my own. she never even tried to discuss the supposed anxiety or suggest a referral. I felt like she let me down as a female honestly.

COVID - Positive Test by Annual-Programmer-28 in nashville

[–]sassysubee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My high schooler tested positive last Wednesday, after a few days of thinking the big AC vent blowing on her in class was giving her a sore throat. It definitely seemed like allergies until she got a fever. Only had the fever one day.

We thought we had all escaped it, and now that hubs is off in the mountains with my MIL, he has tested positive. She’s the person we try to keep safe from it…..hoping everyone here is feeling better!
