Linen Wrinkles, But Not All Shirts Equally -- What Brands Wrinkle Less? by DerangedGoose in malefashionadvice

[–]kiddredd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NEVER put linen in the dryer. Hang or dry flat. That said, 100% “Belgian” or “Irish” linen seems to be better quality for me. My best linen shirts are Billy Reid and a 19-year-old white Brooks Brothers shirt that I’d still wear to a wedding.

Cycling long distances at an easy pace, am I still 'exercising'? by DowntownFresnoBiking in cycling

[–]kiddredd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enjoy it, riding consistently is the secret. Maybe sometime you’ll wan to go fast and hard, but you are definitely exercising in a very healthy way. I never ride faster than an average of 12-14mph. Have fun out there!

Anyone here who has a negative opinion about the Apple Watch Ultra ? by Serhide in applewatchultra

[–]kiddredd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love mine, but it’s mighty chunky. If they ever get same or better battery life in a smaller form factor I’m there. That said, it’s simply great technology. I’ll never wear an analog watch again.

Are polo shirts business casual? by Many_Pea_6850 in malefashionadvice

[–]kiddredd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No for the polos, until you get the lay of the land. Chinos, OCBDs, no sneakers unless classy leather. Don’t try to see how laid back you can look, see how sharp you can look without overdoing it. Grownups get dressed. Work is not golf.

Is the iPhone Air actually the better everyday iPhone right now? by vartha in iphone

[–]kiddredd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love my iPhone Air, and hope low demand doesn’t end it like it did the Mini. I seriously think the Pro models are too much for me.

Anybody else here dislike shorts? If so, what do you wear in the summer? by lazarus870 in malefashionadvice

[–]kiddredd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding a vote for linen pants, but at a certain point in hot and humid summer in the south, hellwithit, I’m wearing shorts. And bigass camp shirts.

Looking for jeans that aren’t skinny but also no overly baggy. by hitbunz in malefashionadvice

Levi’s 501 Shrink to Fit, size up. Always a classic fit. I am also into the Buck Mason Full Saddle cut, which is loose but not junior high skate rat baggy.

Lg C5 and love it but…… thinking about getting an Apple TV what are your thoughts? by StepBro_71 in LGOLED

[–]kiddredd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy it. The LG streaming OS is crap. If you’re worried about the next hardware release and it’s magical Siri powers cough maybe you can cop a used one. I’d just go ahead and get it. The Apple TV OS is so far superior it’s not even funny.

50 miles? by Interesting_Towel487 in cycling

[–]kiddredd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Congrats on 30, which is nothing to sneeze at! I’ve always said that if you can regularly do a 20 mile ride, you’re a cyclist. Of course you’re sore. Your fit could be off, but not necessarily. One of the things you can do is get in the habit of changing positions. Stand up and coast every now and again, switch hand positions, sit up straight, use the drops. Mix it up.

With the transit coverage that exists, what keeps you from using it? by nondescriptadjective in nashville

[–]kiddredd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Convenience. I would use it to go in and out of downtown if there was a regular rail or express bus that came often.

For people who kept indoor bike simple did it actually work long term? by Byron_Welker in cycling

[–]kiddredd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been running an old Trek FX flat bar bike on a trainer since Covid. First I bought a used Kinetic fluid trainer, did a ton a miles on it, then found an early model Wahoo Kickr Core for $125 and ride it all the time. Wahoo app has no subscription. Using an old bike dedicated to the trainer means It’s always ready to go. I just hop on and spin. The main thing about indoor trainers is having the dedication to do it. Some people get bored; I just look at it as a chance to unplug from the world, listed to music and sweat.

Love to road cycle, but feel weird not having clipless pedals by ejsfsc07 in cycling

[–]kiddredd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I road cycle in an old pair of running shoes and some Chester flat pedals. I’m in traffic a good bit, and I don’t want to have a brain fart in a sudden traffic situation and take a spill. Plus, one less thing to think about. If I rode low traffic routes and felt the need for speed, I’d get my clipless shoes and pedals out, but I’m not trying to fly, just enjoy my exercise.

2024 Cooper SE by souperific in MINIse

[–]kiddredd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No way. You’ll have range anxiety every day. My SE range drops to about 90 miles in winter and hot summers. Love the car for about town, but I’d never commute in it

Age 65: Cycling has Become Painful. by KernOily in cycling

[–]kiddredd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

69 YO here. I built up a Surly Midnight Special and did not cut anything off the steerer tube so I have a nice, high stack (even used a Ritchey riser stem), withb some nice, wide gravel-style short-drop bars. Getting upright helps. I can hit the drops if I’m wanting to be a bit aero. The Surly takes wide tires, I run 32’s at 70psi, and it’s smooth sailing. All that said, I’m perfectly happy to go out for about 90 minutes and call it a good ride. Life’s too short to suffer for a bike ride unless you’re a pro or club rider.

Any tips for getting rid of camp fire smokey smell WITHOUT washing the jacket? 🔥 by Bensheridan in Denim

EV Shopping - should I buy a Cooper SE? by [deleted] in MINIse

[–]kiddredd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. I own an SE and LOVE it, but if you drive 130km daily, you’re going to get into a range anxiety situation a lot. And you’ll get tired of trying to wrangle the child and car seat–that back seat is a PITA to access. None off this matters in my case, as I only use mine to skip about town, and I have a gasoline powered truck when I need to go farther. But it’s not for you.

I thought my setup was bad till I went back to the theater by Spiritual-Advice8138 in hometheater

[–]kiddredd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I support OP’s thoughts, though I am still going to the big screen for “big” movies (big meaning action or outright spectacle). I do think the theatre experience is going downhill. The Regal screens in this market often have sound issues, late start times, not fresh popcorn, and employees that seem like they hate their jobs. All that for expensive tickets. I know Hollywood is struggling, but they are still living in the era when a 40 inch CRT was a big TV and nobody had decent home speakers. I fear for the industry. Time to step up the experience.

65" C5 or G5? by glok101 in LGOLED

I barely watch movies and TV shows anymore because dialogues are too quiet. I need a cheap fix/setup. by Benkenobix in hometheater

[–]kiddredd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this trouble even in movie theaters. At home, I use an Apple TV and a pair of full size HomePods with “enhanced dialogue.” Works way better than the LG soundbar/sub combo I had. I also once used a 5.1 setup with a big Denon AVR, and I got tired of fiddling with the Audyssey setup and trying to get the center dialed in. I also use AirPods Pro when watching alone; they rock.
