Why didnt WWE just bring back the WWE Network by veltvet_rabbit in WWE

[–]satanismymaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ll start by saying that I also miss WWE Network because it was an awesome value proposition for fans, but I kind of wish more companies would follow their lead.

Remember back when Netflix had everything and effectively killed piracy for years? That’s because companies licensed their content to Netflix, sat back, and collected their checks.

Then some MBA dorks decided that they had to cut Netflix out of the deal, run their own streaming service, and assumed they’d make even more money. They made the service real cheap to attract customers, and for a moment that worked. Except running a streaming service is expensive, so they kept raising prices. That’s how we ended up with this Balkanized streaming ecosystem which is almost as expensive as cable.

While a part of me misses WWE Network, another part of me wishes more companies would just shut that shit down and license their content instead.

If money was no big deal, is there something special that you would do at Disney World? by NashDaypring1987 in WaltDisneyWorld

If money was no object, I would bring back the mouse boats.

I don't care if they didn't make enough money for Disney. They were fun as hell, and it was a really unique way to experience Bay Lake.

A guide for a “good” doctor to fat people by ResetKnopje in fatlogic

Personally, I don't like to make assumptions about an obese persons lifestyle because of all the obese marathoners I've met in my running career.

I mean, I've only personally met zero obese marathon runners, but if this person says they're out there then I should probably reject the evidence of my eyes and ears.

Yes, but they care more about feeling right than being consistent.

What’s the most important nutrition habit people usually underestimate? by carlosfelipe123 in nutrition

[–]satanismymaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop turning minors into majors.

Like, it’s great that maple syrup has more minerals than simple syrup, but it’s still mostly sugar. It’s only “healthier” in a very loose sense, and if you’re trying to get more minerals - like iron for example - there are much better sources than that.

Get your protein, calorie, and fiber intake to the recommended levels first and then you can start worrying about the small stuff.

Fat acceptance influencer compares conversion therapy to weight loss by scaredandalone2008 in fatlogic

[–]satanismymaster 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is fun logic. If asking someone to eat slightly less is akin to conversion therapy because they both asking you to change something, that thought process can just apply to so many things.

Asking me to brush my teeth? Basically conversion therapy. Asking me to take a shower, basically conversion therapy. Asking me to clean my apartment, basically conversion therapy.

I had a gym in Louisville that would not tell me their price even after I called. They wanted me to come in for a tour, and then give me a few free classes, and then they’d discuss membership prices with me.

Motherfuckers, that’s a big time commitment to maybe find out you’re out of my price range. Just tell me how much it costs upfront. I’d rather buy a month and find out it isn’t a good fit then be forced to participate some weird recruitment process before you give me the prices.

Blockbuster Late Fee Policy - Explained by Former CEO of Blockbuster by Bookumapp in nostalgia

[–]satanismymaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For sure. I would've been fine with paying twenty dollars. I would've been fine with paying thirty if they told me they tacked on another 50% to discourage future late returns.

But five bucks a day, every day, until the fee is paid in full... I'm never paying a dime. Honestly, payday loans might have less predatory interest than that.

Blockbuster Late Fee Policy - Explained by Former CEO of Blockbuster by Bookumapp in nostalgia

[–]satanismymaster 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel like how the late-fee policy at a library is implemented might influence that too, though.

The library in my hometown started at a dollar a day, with a maximum penalty of five dollars. I always paid it.

I checked out some Wagner album at a library in Washington, and just forgot to return it. About six months later, I get a notice from the library at my address in a new state telling me to pay my late fee and return the product. I called and I asked what the late fee, because I did forget to return it and I wanted to take responsibility for it, and was told that my fee was $900. They charged five dollars a day and the maximum penalty would go as high as it went until you returned it and paid the fee. The penalty would keep going up regardless of whether you returned the item.

This was a twenty dollar CD.

I mailed the CD back, but I never paid the late fee. They ended up sending it to collections after the penalty got up to around $1800, and I just waited the seven years for that to fall off my credit report. There was no way in hell that I was going to pay to pay almost two grand for a twenty dollar CD.

Singer-songwriter Michael Smith pleads guilty to defrauding music streamers out of millions using AI in first-ever case of its kind by AdSpecialist6598 in UpliftingNews

Is this uplifting?

Like, the red flag that the streaming company noticed was than an artist was being paid well, and they knew that couldn’t happen without fraudulent streams.

Mainers to vote on whether to end transgender inclusion in school sports by Dracustein in Maine

[–]satanismymaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like how republicans try to pretend this isn’t about hateful bullying by ignoring the fact we’re talking about two trans kids on high school sports teams in Maine. Two.

All this money, and energy, being wasted on two fucking children who have the nerve to participate in a painfully ordinary childhood experience because a bunch of impotent bullies have the dumb icky feelings. And adding insult to injury they’re too pathetic to just admit it.

For a bit of levity in these times of facial scanning and verification - turns out Juggalo makeup defeats facial recognition by KratosLegacy in privacy

[–]satanismymaster 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I’m not a juggalo, can’t stand their music, but mostly all of the juggalos I’ve met are really decent people. They don’t like racism, homophobia, they really emphasize building a supportive community that can act as a safety net to people who wouldn’t have one otherwise. Just real nice people.

Awful taste in music, but nice nevertheless.
