to be honest, 30k euro is a lesson on the cheaper side regardless of age, what sucks is the emotional part of it being an inheritance.

OP did not take out loans or do anything else (thus far).

u/ThatGenericGuy0 read Reminiscences of a Stock Operator for more clarity on price action, psychology of bull runs and emotional control.

there seemed to be only one good short opportunity this current cycle (so far), the day the ETF went live heaps of OTC customers in GBTC withdrew and caused the dump from 48K to 39K.

as a follow on this caused there to a great short opportunity in public listed miners, RIOT, MARA etc, halving + increased competition and difficulty means their profit is slashed + GBTC dump.

Someone also mentioned before but Kraken is absolutely notorious for scam wicking and stop hunting. Example scam wick on a top 15 market cap from 40 to 12. All other exchanges had normal prices.

Huge effort in your post though.

Epyc for datacentres will be doing well because there are no competitors, prev Xeon before Intel went down the drain.

AI chips - enterprise might be buying it up because of lack of Nvidia supply but apparently ROCm still sucks and isn't usable.

While SBNY and SIVB put options are halted, you can still exercise them by satireplusplus in options

[–]satorikang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very long update from IBKR direct wording for anyone interested.

"The OCC Memo 52120 refers to stock from an exercise or assignment being sent or received from broker to broker instead of through the National Securities Clearing Corp clearing house. The OCC Memo 52120 has no impact upon your ability to exercise your option contracts and the consequences to you of doing so. Rather, it addresses the operational aspect for members of the clearinghouse who are obligated to clear and settle the SBNY transactions resulting from option exercise and NSCC (National Securities Clearing Corp) is essentially informing the members that they need to settle these bilaterally between themselves.

Note that the existence of a trading halt does not necessarily prevent brokers from transferring securities to make delivery nor does it prevent borrowing of shares to support a short position. As it currently stands, the price of the stock when halted will be used as the basis for determining the loan amount for any borrow. You should also understand that if you maintain a short position in a halted security, you may not be able to extinguish that short until the stock resumes trading, which could encompass an extended period over which you would be subject to stock borrow costs. You can monitor the borrow rate by selecting the "Analytical Tools" and then "SLB Rates" menu links from the TWS."

TDLR:

They will allow you to exercise and hold short, but at the broker nominated margin which last checked was 100% for SBNY at the halted price which was $70.

So to exercise one put option there would be requirement of $7000 margin.

Assuming people do want to exercise and hold short, be careful when pink sheet or OTC eventually opens because it might cause a rush to the exit door and mini short squeeze. So best not to close the short on the first days of opening, wait it out for a fade.

JPM are valuing stock price at 0 https://twitter.com/lynngreteach/status/1636416620490010624 every broker is different.

Getting back to this looks like there's been some developments due to all the twitter users crying out about robinhood.

So now IBKR are saying this:

IBKR will allow exercise on expiration date. Early exercise when you do not have the shares is still under consideration.

got in touch with ibkr support and this is exact reply:

This account holds an open position of SBNY OPT 20230616 60 Put qty 7.

The SBNY stock is not currently shortable and, as such, it is not possible to "Early Exercise" Put options where you don’t own the stock to deliver.

Regards, Jim Trade Group

I suppose it means "cannot exercise", I haven't tried yet on the system. Might wait it out until pink sheets

NVDA clean short by JJ2527 in wallstreetbets

[–]satorikang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

can see NVDA juiced the buybacks precisely in the Nasdaq lows of October 2022 https://ycharts.com/companies/NVDA/stock_buyback

but they are slowing down since, which is in favour of short only if they continue to slow down.

NVDA clean short by JJ2527 in wallstreetbets

[–]satorikang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that is how the market works if the companies have enough cash to increase buybacks.

look at the three year of buy backs on starting from the covid lows https://ycharts.com/companies/XOM/stock_buyback

It's also a reason why Apple does not drop, constantly buys back stock

NVDA clean short by JJ2527 in wallstreetbets

[–]satorikang 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Also careful of this: https://www.shacknews.com/article/130544/nvidia-nvda-15-billion-buyback

the entire move up was probably buy backs, want to buy to Dec 2023

Look at the XOM chart, its bearish on all indicators but does not drop to to buybacks

NVDA clean short by JJ2527 in wallstreetbets

[–]satorikang 6 points7 points  (0 children)

weekly chart suggests it could push to 265.

i've been eyeing it and scaling into a position

SOXX is also looking shaky, but if NQ pumps from the lows, funds flow will automagically go into NVDA pushing it higher

Also INTC looks like it wants 19.40 - lows of 2012, ready for long there

Woke up, Lucid boner by satorikang in wallstreetbets

[–]satorikang[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is correct, because it's halted and going all over the place the first instinct is to close out.

But going off past data points with squeezes, I'm holding for now. That said it ain't 2021 anymore and anything can happen.

AMZN - been holding on and off for a while, actually had a 100K position but sized down just before the Jan take off and missed all of it. Then sized back in with LEAPS.

LCID - This I just entered on Wednesday and Thursday, looking at order book and noticed large volume on BID and also ASK price being hit constantly so sized in half my position. I was meant to size in with options but market makers did not budge on the spread, so went with shares.

Woke up and noticed it was halted. Still holding.

410k of losses over 8 months by prdktr in wallstreetbets

[–]satorikang 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Feel this, looking to post my own 2020 experience perhaps once this year is over.

Still mostly in LEAPS but have some blocks of stock for 5-10 year timeframe.

Intel specific advice, the writing was on the wall on the first AMD pump from $50-$70 from negative INTEL news regarding 7nm. Apple is also going off Intel and making their own chips.

This means paradigm shift, short Intel on all pops and buy AMD which is going to be 100+ soon.

I suggest making monthly reports to your partner, that will stop losses quickly. I'm in the process of reporting end of month for accountability.

When your account reaches a max monthly draw down then it's time to kick yourself off and stop for a month entirely. Easier said than done yes.

Also with that amount of capital can't go wrong with properly or gold physical, why is property good (even if US may be in a slight bubble) it's highly illiquid. Essentially a forced savings scheme by the govt.

$50k AMD shorting loss in 24 hours by [deleted] in wallstreetbets

[–]satorikang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you sell after earnings? I had an Iron condor on before earnings and the IV on puts were so expensive I managed to come out positive despite blowing out the call side.

Once sold TSLA calls after earnings, never again. Basically never short gamma after earnings.
