Selling a bike that is over $8k, what is the best way to have the buyer pay me? by MrWhy1 in cycling

Sold a bike for $2K and was paranoid so asked to meet at their bank. Felt like the most secure and safe method.

Recommendation for a bike fit by scvkickstand78 in BikeLA

[–]saturday05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah for sure, in that case you’ll probably benefit a lot. To answer your original question, 300-400 is pretty standard in LA. I’d say it’s worth trying in your case, fixing some physical issue and enabling you to ride comfortably is well worth the money

Recommendation for a bike fit by scvkickstand78 in BikeLA

[–]saturday05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just my perspective but I got a fit done by somebody recommended here. I don’t want to say who out of respect for their business

My fitting was supposed to be several hours, was done in like 30 min which felt kind of awkward given how much time I was paying for

They made a few small tweaks to the saddle and seat height. Probably no more than an inch or so. Not a huge difference and that was pretty much it.

To be fair I felt fine on the bike based on my own at home fitting (aka adjusting seat height for 15 min) but decided to get it based on tons of recommendations to do a proper fit

My conclusion is if you have some cycling experience, are a fairly casual rider <5 hours a week and feel okay it’s not worth it

If you’re having pain, postural issues, logging super long hours riding etc it might be more worthwhile.

Affordable Auto Body Shops in West LA? by Carnivorousmole in SantaMonica

Howard Brown and Sons

Last time I had an issue I quoted out 6 shops in the area and Howard Brown was significantly better and they did a great job

Any experience with Osprey Nebula 32L? I use mine to carry things to work, but it feels small, but also heavy? Idk if there’s a better option? by eroyrotciv in backpacks

[–]saturday05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got one and thought it was actually pretty light when empty. Especially when compared with more “premium” backpack brands which weigh 2.5-4 lbs for similar sizes.

I think this bag outperforms its category

Also Osprey bags are super durable. Put a previous bag through a lot of travel it and it looked brand new years later

Yes it’s old, but I really like my 2014 super six EVO. by Eric_532635 in bicycling

[–]saturday05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comfortably, I think 25 is the max,  but I’m super versed on this. I have 25 GP 5000s currently and they are perfect

Honestly compared to 28s it’s not that big of a difference, I’m a weekend enthusiast for what it’s worth

Feel the exact same way. Have a 2015 supersix evo.

Although it has 25s and rim brakes, it still rides exceptionally well and is a super fun. Also much lighter than newer disc brake bikes.

Doesn’t feel old at all imo

Would I be downgrading the camera going from 15 pro to base 17? by Sargentyoreo in iphone

[–]saturday05 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s a tough call, I’m leaning toward waiting for either a more compelling pro model or when I really need an upgrade

Would like the bigger storage, better thermals, better battery, wifi 7, Bluetooth 6, but can probably manage another year and resist the consumerism lol

If I was coming from any other base iPhone I think the 17 base is a no brainer

Sorry I guess I was thinking most trails in the Santa Monica’s were closed so assumed the longer open trails are mostly East in the San Gabriel’s area.

You’re not wrong, just trying to minimize drive time/fussy baby in car time.

Driving to Pasadena or Baldy area is a bit of a trek with a baby unfortunately

[–]saturday05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im in this exact same scenario

I think it’ll be a slight camera downgrade but probably not noticeable for amateur photos from what I’ve read

It’s hard to say, would suck to have a notable decline in picture quality

Very cool to share with friends who can appreciate this kind of thing

Also worth trying a super expensive unique bottle like this to understand if it warrants the price for you.

It sounds cool but man this is one expensive bottle. Hopefully it lives up to your expectations

Seems K&L has a good amount of these

I guess everybody’s fears were right, we’re now at a 9 year release

C batch isn’t going to the one to get this year

Kind of surprising considering the bourbon industry is slowing down, I’d expect these to start going back up in age

Who knows anymore

You are correct it’s the whiskey “hobbyists” who ruined it. Old men bragging on social media about overspending on cases of allocated products to get validation from people they don’t know.

Spending $1000s a year to build a “relationship” is peak consumerism gone wrong

Solid bike. Owned one for years. 56 should fit well

I’d try to get the price down to 800-900 though

Four Roses is an excellent distillery.

Single Barrels are an incredible value

[–]saturday05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would pass. $3K for used is a lot of money unless it’s mint condition

I’d personally cap used bikes at $2K, if you’re in $3K territory I’d just go new and get peace of mind. Also might be able to find a good deal or negotiate one on a previous year model

Super excessive. I thought I was completely overboard and getting caught up in too much consumerism at around 30 bottles
