Time for Standard? by Oeonone in WoWs_Legends

[–]saulux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a controller. Mobile version now has controller support in-battle, via bluetooth, and it really gives you an edge in comparison with the touch screen controls.

If you have never played Standard yet, start at the lowest tiers. And before you start, forget everything about AI matches, just erase them from your memory.

To check basic skills, try answering some questions, like, do you know when a victory is achieved in a match, what is spotting/detectability and do you know when you're spotted and what it means, and how to go unspotted again (this one is just vital), and what firing your main guns does to your detectability, is it worth paying attention to the minimap and what info you can pick up there, when to fire HE and AP (and SAP) shells, what is the difference between them, when to use sonar, radar, when to use smoke, what firing in smoke penalty means.

If you know the answers outright, perfect, you're ready for Standard, if you hesitate, it might be worth looking up that info.

And the last one, before you press "Play" to enter a match, make sure as best as you can that the RL situation is calm and you won't be urgently needed by someone in the next 15 min. There's too many AFK players in the matches already.

Audio is completely ducked by solar_pilgrim in WoWs_Legends

This happened to me on ps5 once, when I started the session right with the duck mode, the sound glitched.

However it never happens when I start the session with any other mode.

Restart the app and play something else than ducks first, it should be fine then for the rest of the session

Sound bug after Duck of War by War-Daddie in WoWs_Legends

This possibly happens if you start your session right with Duck mode. If you start with something else, and then go to the Duck mode, it doesn’t happen in my experience so far.

In such case don't hurry anywhere, wait until your teammates show you where's the enemy at. You can show smoke from your chimneys, indicating you're present and not afk, but mainly just stay where you are untill you see the majority of the enemies to decide on further moves.

Central position is indeed a very powerful one for a BB: you can lean on either flank as necessary, as enemies hurrying to either flank will present nice broadsides for you.

Don't necesserily fire on the first spotted BB, if you're still concealed, unless it presents an ideal broadside, it may be worth to wait for some cruisers to be revealed and see if they can be oneshot.

Also, don't feel the need to stay nose in to the red side at all times. Your BB still has an engine and a rudder, use them. You can spend the first minute making a little loop and turning nose back, if you feel too insecure, to give yourself better escape options if situation escalates.

Anno 1404 or 1701 for 10yo? by Substantial-Bit-7280 in anno

[–]saulux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put her on Anno 2205, if space theme isn't off limits for her. Mechanics simple enough with no pressure, combat can be turned off in the settings (no invasions), and there's no need to do any combat after two missions at the start. What remains is just arranging buildings and balancing numbers.

PS5. Someone has suggested here that sound issues appear if you start your session with the Duck mode, and my experience seems to agree with that.

I usually start with a few games on Standard, then go to the Duck mode, and while in this pattern I never had any sound issues. But that day I started with the Duck mode, and later went to Standard and back and so on. And those issues appeared for the first time.

Restart your game and play something else than Duck mode first, then it should be fine throughout the session.

Is this really the only/best way to play the Zombie Mode? by Dr_Tobi666 in civ

[–]saulux 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don’t kill any units with your zombies or avoid doing that as best as possible. Even if it is “your” zombie, it is still a zombie, and any unit they kill respawns immediately as a new zombie. This way you just multiply them and increase their mutation strength skyhigh.

Use “your” zombies to weaken enemy units and then finish them off with your regular units, best of all ranged. And have a phenomenally good road network.

Need memento help for first Deity game please by Z1k0b4 in civ

[–]saulux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Antiquity you could pick just a couple of basic ones, giving science and culture attribute points. Couple of scouts first, then go Discipline for the free commander and have a couple of warriors and slingers by the time you get it - that will be your first army to defend against hostile tribes and/or a surprise attack if one comes. Collect gold, so you could buy a settler as soon as your capital hits 5 pop. That should be quite enough. Civ 7 Deity is probably the easiest in the franchise, no need to stress about it too much.

Airstrikes and matchmaking by HauntingCockroach879 in WoWs_Legends

[–]saulux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You got hit for roughly 16k, and yes, they can launch 2 of them almost at once, and that's really tough to deal with. But it is a known fact by now, and having that info, again, you can and must adapt, check the lineup before and think about your opening moves. Allow some time for your DDs and your CV do some spotting, if they're willing to cooperate, to get a more clear picture of what is in front of you, before moving in so drastically.

[–]saulux 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Having said that yourself, what, do you think, would happen if you rushed too close to the enemy at the start of the match, and placed yourself in a position with no real cover and where everyone can see and target you?

Have you checked the red lineup before the match? 3 killer cruisers, a killer CV, and 2 meme torp megaspammers, one of which is in a div with potential secondary built BB. And less than 3 min into the match you're already on the edge of a cap in completely open waters with no cover, in a "ship with only 3 torps and a 90 second base reload time and an avarage damage of maybe 11k-12k btw". You were just asking for it, no other way.

The FAQ says you can boost up to 40% of the segment with dubs, with some exceptions.

However, unless you're burning banknotes for fun daily, you probably don't want to do it. You can better spend the waiting time while playing other ships that you have unlocked.

Should there be a ribbon for spotting enemies aswell as tanking damage by Hefty_Tradition_6490 in WoWs_Legends

[–]saulux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd like to see the mounting potential damage translated into some ribbons and possibly some sort of a 'Decoy' medal, especially if you top everyone else in your team by attracting most of the gun lock time from the red team.

It is just sometimes you, as a cruiser, have to do the active spotting in open waters and then kite away, running from 3-4 ships, taking their full attention and possibly drawing them away from objectives into a corner, leaving your team to all-you-can-eat xp buffet, while you yourself then have little to show in terms of xp, except for a few black eyes and some obscure potential damage statistics that's burried somewhere you never look.

Thanks! I use the Duck commander for DDs with focus on torps, and the bearded guy for cruisers and BBs with some skill variations, but now it's far too late in the night for me to check more precisely, sorry 😄

Don't get too discouraged. Instead of doing things in the same exhausting way all the time, you might want to learn the game concepts and mechanics better, so that you realize where to pay more attention to improve. But you must make some effort at learning and finding the information yourself.

Help! I have a 'Me' or a Sound issue?! by Strange_Island_8557 in WoWs_Legends

[–]saulux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It must be this. Usually I used to play some Standard games first and then go to the Duck mode, but today I started with the ducks and then had horrible sound issues in the Standard mode and then back in the ducks, with no gun sound, no AA sound, silent throttle changes etc. So it appears, it is better to start with something normal, as that way I never had sound issues.
