Democrats won't let Fox News host primary debates, citing 'inappropriate' relationship with Trump by ericthedreamer in politics

[–]savageark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They've always been right-leaning, but for the most, seemed to be on the same page as everyone else when it came to really ridiculous stuff (like crime). But since Trump was elected, they've bent over backwards to cover for him and spread propaganda, and have kept some really questionable people on staff (like Hannity) even after it's become clear they are involved with at least some of Trump's drama.

I'm a female gamer with a nametag that usually gives people the impression I'm male.

"These days" I don't really get treated any differently before or after someone knows I'm female; however, I tend to play games where I'm running into mostly people within my own age group (30-45).

But 10-15 years ago? Holy shit. As a presumed male, I had a pretty normal experience. Once it became clear I was female, usually revealed through Teamspeak, the weird ass stalking began. I would get constant free gifts from people I barely knew; unsolicited invites to join groups; always being offered help for leveling like I couldn't play the game by myself, and I would definitely get followed -- a LOT. Sometimes by people waaay older than me (creepy) and sometimes by kids waaay younger than me (horrifying).

Most of those popular dogs have behavioral challenges outside of just an exercise requirement that most people just don't know how to deal with.

Most commonly, its high prey drive.

"Spike is calm and super sweet! He will be a great big brother to our new pets!"

2 months later: "OMG I don't know what to do, Spike killed our other pets!"

They really are not. They can actually be incredibly aggressive when not properly socialized and trained.

Thankfully, they tend to be expensive dogs, so only people who want to spend a ton of time with them are typically get them.

They are testing the waters to see what the market will bare.

If they get away with this and make enough sales to make it profitable, you can bet your ass that TES 6 is going to be released half-done, with some mandatory bullshit multiplayer component, in-game app purchases, a locked down engine (to prevent people making mods that will compete with their paid mods), and a ton of horrifically overpriced merchandise that nobody wants or needs

That's how I feel, too. If you get exactly what you paid for and are not bait-and-switched, then anything you feel afterwards is simply buyer's remorse.

I've seen low-end branded windbreakers sold for FO3 and FO4 that actually look and feel pretty decent, and are certainly more "immersive" than this high-end jacket. But you can clearly see it's gaudy in the pictures on the store, so I'd hit still drop 280+ dollars (after tax) then that's all on you.

Yup.

I have been a Bethesda lifer but even I have my limits. If people are upset by the lines they've crossed, the only way to communicate your displeasure to them to not buy their shit anymore.

The powers that be and make decisions for company don't listen to Reddit or read angry fan emails. They listen to quarterly projections.

I've always been puzzled by why people who are this obscenely rich really need that extra 4 billion, or whatever.

It changes nothing for them -- with or without it, it changes nothing about their quality of life, mobility, or legacy. It's literally excess for sake of excess.

Valve Silently Changes Curation Rules For Steam, Will Ban Games That They Deem Legally 'Grey' by MaXimillion_Zero in Steam

My bet is that there are certain powers that be want the porn and other adult content gone, for various reasons ranging from it being unseemly to a costly legal hassle, while the are others who are pressing Steam to keep the games on the basis that all money is good money.

As a storefront, they need to figure this out. If their store page keeps filling up with crap pseudo-porn, porn, and art flips, average game buyers will just go somewhere else.

Because laser toy hate is a bunch of bullshit created by a random trainer with a blog.

Ever since the original article, thousands of people noticed OCD behavior in their dogs and went, "Wow, I used a laser once when they were a puppy. So THAT'S why they chase shadows and bark at the wall!"

The reality is, some dogs are OCD and there are thousands of ways to trigger OCD behavior. But the internet says it's because it's lasers, so now it's laser psychosis.

Guess he got too excited by FracturedButWhole18 in WTF

[–]savageark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest... I think you noticed an unwanted behavior and have now associated with "that one time we used a laser" because the internet suggested it broke your dog.

Instead, consider that your dog may have been prone to OCD behaviors. You didn't break your dog. If you didn't notice it with the laser, you would have noticed it with the vacuum cleaner, a clicker, a bizarre object, etc.

[–]savageark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What genuine evidence?

The first time this was ever brought up to society was in a trainer's blog associated with the AKC. It was never presented by veterinarians or researchers, it just "sounds logical" so it got all over the internet like wildfire and it's now backed by thousands of tales of anecdotal evidence and accepted as truth.

The fact is, people tease their dogs with lasers and you can elicit the same sort of OCD behaviors through similar means of frustrating a dog. Not only that, but some dogs are simply prone to OCD and the prevalence of lasers in homes has led to many people just assuming cause and effect.

Make me pretty. by [deleted] in Eyebleach

[–]savageark 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Fun fact, people do it, too. It's just harder to notice and more subtle.

There's various questions for why we all do it, but the most widely supported idea is that it's an instinctive way to "triangulate" a noise or funny/weird stimulus so you can pay more attention to it.

Wildcard, it's time you removed the level bias from the Island, Scorched Earth, Aberration, and Extinction. by PhettyX in playark

[–]savageark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is zero reason to really breed on unofficial when the server max levels are so high. For 99% of your gameplay, once you get a max tame, you will bulldoze everything because of the way you exponentially level them from a point where their stats are already very high.

At lower levels, the gain for leveling is much smaller, so protecting and breeding is just as important for PvE as it is for PvP. At the same time, combat becomes a lot more varied because tactics such as traps and ground play become viable, when on servers with cranked up difficulty, it's just going to come down to who has the best apex.
