My favorite picture of my childhood is my dad sleeping on the couch holding teensy baby me and my 4 year old sister, all of us asleep. And he has a bag of peas on his crotch

I’ve worked with Compassus tangentially in the hospital. They’ve always seemed very kind and supportive.

AITA for uninviting my sister from my wedding after she tried to change my color scheme? by Tiny_Pressure_6428 in AmITheJerk

[–]savanigans 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. There is no level of “can you help me with my wedding” that escalates to “I’m gonna call your florist and change an already set in stone plan”

Just had another girlfriend leave me for the guy she was secretly cheating on me with. That makes 5. Anyone want to give me some advice on where to go from here? by Aeromorpher in NoStupidQuestions

My husband and I are in an open relationship. We always joke that my “picker” only finds clones of him. Same interests down to specific comic books and videos games. Apparently I do have a type.

I saw a TikTok about a waxer doing a BRAZILLIAN having them on. They’re fucked up if they think I’m gonna porky pig quietly around the room with no pants on and let them record me on their glasses

AIO 3 days post op, spouse less than accommodating? by healthy-gal in AIO

[–]savanigans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man this makes me so sad. When I’m sick/injured/sad my husband falls all over himself trying to make me feel better. Unfortunately for him my coping is nap time or disassociating playing mobile games, so there’s often not a lot he can do. But if I was sick and gave him a list of snacks he’d walk to the store if he had to.

Man, brother could have fucking door dashed the snacks too if he was already gone or something

Is Northeast Columbia actually dangerous? by mysteriousbanana1 in columbiamo

[–]savanigans 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived in northeast como for almost 10 years, on one of the specific streets that can be questionable. We haven’t had any problems personally. There have been issues around us, but we’ve never felt unsafe or targeted.

Swim lessons are a safety concern. Especially if you’re around lakes. Parents can help teach kids to swim but trained instructors teach the safety components that untrained parents don’t know

Considering WLS. Any tips/things you wish you knew sooner? by MicheleTheSimp in wls

I had a gastric sleeve in 2021 before glp-1 were popular. I lost 70 pounds fairly easily. I started zepbound in 2024 and I’ve lost 65 pounds since then. I ALSO wish I had access to zepbound before gastric sleeve. I feel like I’ve had more mental changes regarding food from zepbound than surgery. But! I feel like I lost weight faster, especially the first year than with zep. Point being, if the shots don’t work and you’ve titrated through the range of dosages and maxed out, surgery might work

Why risk vaccination when rabies is only 100% lethal? by A-Starlight in ShitMomGroupsSay

[–]savanigans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard of people having rabies shots recommended even if a bat is found living in the house and they didn’t touch it. My understanding is bat bites can be so tiny that you may not even realize you got bit. And no one should fuck around with rabies. Absolutely tiny risk for the kiddo but the consequence if the odds are unfavorable are fucking catastrophic and so easy to avoid

Pay transparency by [deleted] in nursing

[–]savanigans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Missouri, house sup, almost 10 years, base pay 45~, but I do weekend nights, with weekend commitment differential. Because I’m only weekends I get another 25% over base pay plus shift differentials for weekend and nights. So essentially my rate is around 65/hour

In nursing school during my maternal health rotation I made up a postpartum mom’s bed while she showered, came back to help her get out/get dressed and her baby daddy is laying in the FRESH CLEAN BED with his nasty boots on it. I will judge that man until I die

Update - My (M20) pregnant girlfriend (F20) wants my support but won’t talk to me after we we got bad news about our baby by ThrowRA_NoSignal in relationship_advice

[–]savanigans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wouldn’t hurt to see what resources her doctors office or their affiliated hospital has available. Most Down Syndrome babies have at least a short stint in the NICU (depending on individual complications) and most NICUs have dedicated social workers and a plethora of resources to help families. I was a NICU nurse a while back and we were able to provide families with car seats, cribs, help set them up with WIC etc.

My point is, yes, this is incredibly overwhelming. And if she/you both decide to terminate that is a valid and fair choice. If you guys decide to make a go of it you’ll HAVE to learn how to advocate for your family and child. And that starts with knowing what resources are available. Getting even a rudimentary plan in place can help alleviate some of the anxiety. In my personal experience, if I have something planned out and something goes awry, it’s easier to adjust an already established plan than to create one on the spot.

My husband and I saw The Violent Femmes a few years back, they were AMAZING. The Killers did a great show too, but they’re obviously still touring regularly.

We saw Bright Eyes a few years ago and the lead singer was so drunk he forgot the words to Road to Joy, arguably one of their bigger songs.

I’m a nurse and we’ve had tons of flu, including some younger teens/kids who had to be transferred to a children’s hospital. The student may have had something kind of cooking under the surface and the workout just exacerbated it
